The Odds Are Against Me - Episode 31
"Which stupid mission did you just completed?" She said angrily, standing up and pointing at me, "don't come here and be making up trash. Respect yourself!"
"I'm making up trash abi? Whatever makes you sleep well at night. But, how did you know Raymond in the first place?" I queried.
"I don't know Raymond. Don't disturb me with your bugging questions," she said angrily.
"I am not disturbing you," I said. I stood up from the sofa I sat on, and moved to where she sat and positioned her head towards my face.
"Leave me alone," she struggled.
"I'm not leaving you alone. Just look into my eyes and search for that love you once had for me," I said. She stopped struggling to get away from my grip and stared into my eyes.
"Err... What are you trying to do?" I said and looked away.
"Afamefuna. It's not the love I'd for you, but the love I have for you. This love is real," she said in a low-pitched voice with a face riddled in pity. I looked at her face, and saw a lady in love. Her face overwhelmed my feelings. I couldn't mutter a word. She dragged my body towards her and I didn't restrict

. She brought her face towards mine and our lips locked together. We kissed. I felt nothing. She pulled her lips away after she was done. I immediately got a grip of myself. I looked back to check if Pelumi was there, taking pictures of us, as usual.
"There is nothing to be afraid of, baby," Lola said and tapped me by the shoulder. I looked at her.
"You love me truly, Lola?" I asked.
"Yes, I do. With all my heart. I'll do anything to be with you," she said. "This kiss was the best I have ever had. Not like you kissed really well. But I was lost wandering in the utopian world, whilst kissing the man I loved with my body, mind and soul."
"Really?" I said and scratched my head.
"Yes, really. I need one more favour from you, but as a lady, I won't be too forward to ask," she said. I grinned and she reciprocated my grin.
"I know what it is," I said and cackled.
"Okay?" She replied.
"You want a sex from me and I'm ready to fulfill it, if you can make my marriage work," I stood up with bulging eyes.
"Okay, so I should tell your wife that I planned it?" She said.
"Not all that. You planned it with Raymond also," I said. If she tell my wife that she planned it, my wife might believe her and still be having things to do with Raymond. I knew he was an accomplice, but I was not entirely sure. I wanted to get to the root.
"I didn't plan it with anybody," she said.
"I knew you have always had it in your mind to execute that plan or a similar one because you have never wished me marital bliss. Maybe it was just a coincidence with Raymond and you both planned it. Or can you explain how possibly Raymond knew about my wife marital crisis and was the first to visit when she hardly shares her confidential stuff with people. When she does, it's always to her close friends or she simply shares it to them first before any other person!" I shouted.
"Please, don't come here and be shouting. Respect yourself," Pelumi said as she strutted out from the sitting room she had been in.
"How dare you interfere in my conversations?!" I shouted back, stood up immediately and moved close to her. I slapped Pelumi.
"How dare you?" She said angrily and wanted to slap me. I held her two hands and pushed her to the sofa. She fell.
"I'm calling the police right now. You can't come here and think you can harass us because you are a man. You, worthless thing!" she yelled and snapped, while writhing in pains as she wanted to stand up. She made for her phone.
"Please, don't call the police. We will settle everything here," Lola ran and held her. Lola collected her phone and she hissed.
"No, allow her to call the police. I have a voice recording evidence for admitting that you both blackmailed me!" I shouted as I brought out my recording that was on immediately I entered and played it.
"See me in the court of law," I said, and started walking away. Immediately I wanted to open the door, Lola ran towards me, held my trouser and started crying, whilst confessing that Raymond was an accomplice. She begged I shouldn't stress the case. I pushed her away from my grip and she fell on the floor. I dashed outside the building. I entered my car and drove off.
***
I drove home. My gateman opened the gate for me, and I drove past him, ignoring his hailing, while I packed my car at the garage. I came down and walked sluggishly.
At the door, stood my wife. I was shocked. It was quarter past seven P.M. I used the handkerchief I had at my right hand to clean my eyes, in order to confirm if I was seeing well.
"It's me, Funmi," Funmi said.
"What?!" I yelled.
"Yes, it's a long story. I was all wrong. I overreacted.

. It's a case of a bitter ex boyfriend"
"Well, there was a crime case in our office and security unit extracted people's call conversations to know who committed the offence. Nobody knows about this, call recording in our office except every Managing Directors. Though the crime didn't happen in our office as there was no extract of evidence from the calls, but they found out Lola and Raymond's sinister plan and called me," Funmi said. Raymond worked as their office's medical doctor and made the call while in the office.
"All these happened today. I owe you apologies and I needed to be here immediately, my husband."
I moved closer to her and hugged her as she shed tears. I looked by the side, the gateman was staring at us, while Bisi stood at the corner with a full grin.
"It's also my fault I could have stayed clear from a hungry predator," I said.
We held ourselves tightly. I bent down, carried her up and entered the sitting room, then to the bedroom.
THE END
Thank you everyone. The ride was worth it. I'm really happy that you all followed till the final, even when I derailed with updates. This story is the most tasking one I have ever written, but I came through.
I love you all. Yass!!! Anticipate the sequel of "She did it."
