"Good day," I said, greeting Funmi, and the man sitting beside her. It was Raymond, that sat beside her. Funmi ignored my greeting.

"Hello, bro. How are you doing?" Raymond replied. I nodded in affirmation to his reply. I gazed at Funmi as she wanted to talk. She opened her mouth but stopped . I moved closer to the bed, they both sat on. I looked by the side, and sat on the chair lying at the corner.

"What's really the problem, dear? I can explain myself," I pleaded.

"Seriously, you don't have anything to explain, the proofs are all over the place staring at your face," she said.

"I know right. I treated Lola as your friend and mine, but I didn't know she will go to that mile. Nothing happened that day, I'm sure," I said.

"Oh, please, cut down the blames and accept you were just stupid. You pretentious human. You ruin my day. I have to take take days off from work," she yelled. I covered my eyes in disdain at what she uttered, then I stared at Raymond to observe his facial expressions.

"Okay dear, I'll be with you later. I am going back to the hospital to attend to some of my patients," Raymond said. I watched Funmi as she stood and hugged Raymond

. Raymond held her tightly and pecked her. Raymond's hug depicted some feelings, though I sensed Funmi was just being grateful with her reciprocated hug.

"Thank you for being here for me, even those I cherish as friends are not here yet. The devil I know is better than the angel I barely know," she spoke in proverbs. I was filled with rage. I knew she was referring to me as the pretentious angel she barely knows. I wanted to let out my anger while Raymond was there, but I kept my cool. Immediately Raymond left, Funmi waited for some minutes, then stood up and hissed. She wanted to walk away through the door, I quickly stood up and drew her back.

"How dare you? Get your hands off me," she barked, as her hands landed on my face.

"What's going on there?" Her mother shouted downstairs. I heard some footsteps as more than a person climbed up.

"What's the problem?" Her father asked.

"She slapped me," I said. "Just know one thing, Funmi, Wisdom is profitable to direct. I know you are not wise. I'm fighting for my marriage because you lack the insight to connect the dots. At the alter, we accepted the vow for two to became one. We are one. Nothing will separate our oneness. I'll be back, Funmi," I said and freed her. She had tears covered her face.

"You want to kill my daughter for me?" Her mother shouted.

"No MA," I replied.

"I'm wiser than you. I refuse to stay with a cheating husband like you. You always apportion blames instead of rendering apologies," she said. I wanted to reply but stopped. Words failed me, as my mouth seemed clasped with a metal.

"My son, take directive measures. Everything will be fine," her father said.

"All right, Sir. I'm going somewhere now. Your driver can assist me to take my children home to Bisi," I begged.

"No problem," I said and dashed outside the building to the place my car was packed at.

Immediately I got outside, I entered my car and drove off. I drove to Lola's house. When I got there, I packed outside the gate, came down and knocked. The gateman came out and opened the gate.

"Arrgh, oga, how is everything?. You just waka quickly the other day. I was calling you to greet you again, you just opened the gate and left. I hope everything dey well?" He asked.

"Yes, all is well," I replied.

"Thank God. Aunty Lola just entered the apartment with Aunty Pelumi now," he said again.

"Thank you for the information," I replied. I walked to her apartment and knocked at door when I got there. Her friend looked through the window and noticed it was me. She covered the curtain back and I waited about some minutes before Lola opened the door.

"You can come in. I hope you enjoyed the food you ate here the last time," she smirked. I smiled back at her, and played along.

. I entered.

"It looks like I haven't been here before," I said.

"Oh, really?" Pelumi replied. I laughed.

"What brought you here?" Pelumi asked.

"Last I checked, this is not your house. And I don't have anything to do with you. Or do I know you?" I asked.

"Oh, he is rude too. Serves him right," Pelumi said angrily and left the sitting room. She snapped at me.

"How is Dr. Raymond? I heard he's not feeling all right?" I said.

"Oh, he never told me. Really?" Lola asked. I ignored her question and crossed my legs whilst shaking it. She waited for some minutes and blurted, "why did you have to ask me about him? What's my own business?"

"Nothing. Mission one accomplished," I said and laughed.
