The Emerald Chase - Episode 10

 

Mrs Arthur and Erica screams their lungs out as Benjamin watches in horror as his son drops to the floor, dead... "You bastard!! You killed my son... You killed my son!!" Mrs Arthur picks up a flower vase on the glass table and throws it, hitting the side of Stone's head drawing out blood... Stone touches his temple and feels a liquid trickling down his face... . Blood!!!. He frowns and rushes towards her. "You b-tch....." He stops and turns to Chief Benson waiting for approval. "Sure go ahead.. Have fun!" Benson smiles and watches in amusement as Erica and her father cried as Stone began hitting her mercilessly.. "Are you willing to talk now? Or you want you and your family to die.... You better start talking because I don't have time to spare. I could as well while away time with your pretty daughter here" "Don't you dare lay your filthy hands on my child you animal!!" She screams. "Oh really now? And why shouldn't I?" He provokes her and begins to caress Erica's face.... Mrs Arthur flares up and runs towards him..... She slaps him across the face twice and kicks him in the groin as he groans in pain... "I would rather die than see you touch my daughter!!" He remained on the floor for a few minutes and when he regained his composure, he had a dangerous look on his face, his eyes dark with fury.... "B-tch!!" Benson curses and hits her with the base of his gun sending her tumbling backwards....

. She fell heavily on the floor and hit her forehead at the edge of the glass table and then went still. "Please stop!! It's enough...I will tell you everything you need to know.. I will give you the video please don't hurt anyone else please..." Benjamin cries. "Too late dear friend...you have wasted enough time already... If you refuse to tell me where the video is, then fine.. You might as well die with it....like they say, Dead people don't talk.. Say hello to Jesus or better still say hi to the devil" he says and without a second thought, points the gun at him and pulls the trigger.... He drops, dead...

"Dad!!!! Mom!!! Michael!! Wake up!! Dad!! Mommy!!" Erica cried out, running frantically from her brother to her mother and then to her father.... She was shaking tremendously as her eyes darted to the five lifeless bodies on the floor, blood spilled everywhere... "Sorry girl... You are just too pretty to die like this but hey it's not my fault.... Your parents had refused to give me what I wanted.. When you get to heaven, blame them.. Have a safe trip" Benson shrugs and fires twice at her.. He watched her limp body drop to the floor, dead, her eyes wide opened... "You know what to do... Burn the whole house down" he instructs his men who walk out towards the car parked outside the main gate.... "I've wasted enough time here already" Benson mutters as he walks out...

Once they were out of ear shot, Elvis wipes his tear stained face and runs into the house.... He looked at the dead bodies, wondering whom to go to first.... Suddenly, he heard coughing... It was faint at first but then it continued.. "Elvis!" The faint voice came. "Mama!!" He screamed amidst tears and rushed to her... "Don't cry my son.... Take this.." She pauses and places the emerald necklace she was wearing earlier into his palm... "Give this to your younger sister, Lucy. Protect her my son..... From now onwards, Lucy's name should be Emerald, just like this necklace. Her name should be Emerald henceforth.. That name should always remind you both of today... Love and protect each other my son.... I don't know what's in this necklace but when you both are grown ups, press this button.." She pauses and points to the tiny button behind the locket of the necklace... "This necklace will lead you to the truth.... Don't open it until you are fully grown ups to face the world... Promise me my son.... Promise" she chokes as blood continued trickling down her forehead..... "Don't leave me mom... Please!! Not you too!" He cries wrapping his arms around her. "I will always be with you son.... Go now.... Take your sister with you... Go now..." She urges but he continued to shake his head refusing to let go... Mrs Arthur smiles painfully and kisses his cheeks as she felt her life slowly ebbing out of her.... "Go!!" She whispered... She could hear footsteps getting closer.... "Go my son... Go through the back door... Go! Run and never look back!" she pleaded and watched him run out occasionally looking back until he got to the kitchen and run out through the secret door... Soon, she could hear something being poured on them and all over the house. She knew the smell quiet well...

. It was petrol... She could hear them laughing as they locked the door from outside and released a match into the liquid on the doorstep.... Almost immediately, it caught fire and she watched on helplessly unable to move as the flame kept getting nearer and nearer before engulfing her in it's heat and burning them all to ashes.. Chief Benson watched as the house together with the dead bodies burn,leaving no trace of evidence.. Regret, sympathy, pity, pain... He felt none....

Elvis turns and watches the house where he grew up with his entire family being burnt like animals.... His sister was crying and he couldn't do anything about it... "Run my son.. And never look back" his mother's last words echoed in his mind. He grips his sister and run as fast as his legs could carry him never looking back. "Go!!! Run!!" The words continued to echo and as little as he was, he run, faster and faster searching for shelter in the shadows of the dark, under the mercy of predators, but yet still he tightened his grip on his sister and run for his life, the big ugly tattoo he saw on one of the men, never leaving his mind.
