Synder-Ella - Episode 29

 

Synder tossed and turned on the mat she lay which was quite big enough to contain the both of them but he sat on a stool, resting his back against the wall. The room was lit by a silver lantern which illuminated the room.

“After a long day we had, you know you should lie down.” She said, finally.

Henry smiled, they had just said a goodnight to their host and his wife and they were in their room, he had chosen to sit on the stool because he was a gentleman right?

“I am okay, besides, I do a lot of gymnastics in my sleep so I don’t want to hurt you.” He joked but Synder only smiled and finally positioned herself into a sitting posture. That way, they were both facing each other, while she was on a mat, he was on the stool.

“You are trying to be a gentleman right?”

He nodded, “of course, why else would I be doing this?”

“But you were no gentleman hours ago when you jumped into the lake nakedly,” she chuckled.

“Well, I knew you were not going to look at me so, I was pretty confident,” Henry replied and they both smiled.

Now, they were both quietly starring outside the window, quietly, enjoying the cold night breeze, mesmerized by the beauty the stars formed in the sky . Through the ocean of darkness, the stars materialized, illuminating the dark moonless night.

“This is beautiful,” Henry whispered.

“Yea, it is, I wish I can just go out right now,” Synder said with a smile.

“Me too, but we are warned that once it is seven, we must not step out.” Henry reminded her.

“Yea, I know

Henry smiled, “you have a good heart princess. So tell me.” He said, drawing his stool closer towards the edge of the mat.

. “Have you ever done this before?”

Synder smiled, “done what? You mean get kidnapped?”

“No, no, I mean, go on an adventure?”

Synder laughed, “are you kidding, this is an adventure to you?”

“I have always wanted to go on one,” Henry replied but Synder shook her head.

“To me, it’s just, I don’t know, I mean, being here with you, there is a purpose right?”

Henry smiled and stood up without answering, “come with me.”

Synder frowned, “what are you saying, come with you to where?”

“Just come, we are not going out, I just want you to see something.” He said, standing up and extending a hand to her, smiling, she took it and they both walked towards the window side, while he stood behind her, he put both hands on her shoulders. She always loved it when he held his hands like that.

“Have you ever seen a falling star before?” He whispered to her, the way his voice sounded close to her ears sent some tingly feelings down her stomach or were those butterflies?

“No, I haven’t,” she replied.

“Fix your eyes on those stars...there is a star that always falls at least every minute. You can see it if you try not to blink. Once it falls, close your eyes and make a wish.” He whispered to her.

Synder didn’t know what he was doing but whatever it was, she was loving it. She did as she was told but she was finding it difficult with him standing so close and then his hand was around her neck, sending warmth all over her...
“Can you see that?” He asked...

“Yes, I can feel that, Imean, see that.” She replied, clearing her throat to concentrate on whatever he was trying to show her.

Henry chucked quietly, he knew what he was doing alright and he could see she was enjoying it just like he was. “Now look at that....” He pointed and they both silently watched as one of the beautiful sparkling stars began to drop...

“Now make a wish.” He breathed into her ear and she closed her eyes. The only thing that kept going in her head was-kiss me, kiss me, kiss me...”

“Now open your eyes....so what did you wish for?” He asked, trying to hide a smile but she only shrugged while trying hard not to blush, “just that my friend should be safe.” She lied,

“So you didn’t secretly wish that we kiss?” He asked softly, starring into her eyes and trying to hide a smile.

Synder frowned and turned away shyly, this was so stupid, this was the second day they would be spending the night together and why was she feeling so....

“No, I didn’t...” She said, retreating back to her mat.

“Oh that’s a shame, I could have made your dream come true...” He said jokingly and moved back to his stool.

Some minutes later, they were both quiet as they heard the sound of drumming just like Mr. Garuba had said they would hear once the festival started. Quickly, he went and shut the windows, by the time he got back to his stool, he realized she was looking pretty shaken.

Without asking anything, he went to the mat and lay beside her, their foreheads almost touching....

“Don’t be scared, I will protect you okay?”

She nodded, feeling a little bit relieved and thankful that at least he was there with her...she was beginning to depend on this man, for the first time in her life, she had someone to lean on and it felt so good.

“Please, can you hold my hand?” She whispered softly as the drumming got closer and someone began to chant in a loud voice...

“A I wooooo, eni ba foju woro, oro a gbe”( You cannot behold him, he would beholds Oro will die..or something like that.”)

“Can you hold my hand...?” She whispered softly to him again but he only smiled.

“I can do something even better.” He said and with the way he was looking at her and the way her body was responding to the sound of his voice, she knew what he meant and she closed her eyes. She felt him lean in closer until his soft lips were firmly on hers and the sensation that accompanied that, was enough to drown the noises outside....

SO I'M TRYING TO REMEMBER WHEN I HAD MY FIRST KISS...THINK IT WAS IN THE RAIN, LIKE UNDER HIS UMBRELLA JUST LIKE RIHANA'S SONG,  BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ROMANTIC...OR MAYBE IT WAS  EXCEPT  EACH TIME I REMEMBER,  IM ALWAYS LIKE,,,TOBI, WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING KISSING A GUY IN THE RAIN, WHAT IF THUNDER HAD FIRED YOU BOTH...WELL,  THANK GOD THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. LOL.
