Michelle:

"God, I hate coming back here." I groan as the cab drop Rory and I close to the beach house.
"I know you don't like it here but you just have to be patient. I think the bloody man would be able to help in our revenge. We just have to get him to talk." Rory assures me.
"You see what I mean. You guys have all the fun when I'm stuck here." Rory has the guts to chuckle.
"Come on Mara . It's almost dawn. We have to get you in bed before anyone notices you're not in it."
"Fine, but if that useless help of mine do anything silly again just because she thinks I can't see her, I'm going to spank her ass!" I snap. Rory starts laughing so hard I can't help but join in.
"Just the previous day, I watched her stuff her purse with a bit of my breakfast." I narrate.
"Didn't she steal the wall clock in your room?" Rory chuckles and I shake my head.
"You're insufferable. I'm lamenting about having to play blind and you are laughing at my predicament, you blind jerk." I snap as I pull my window up and quietly slip into my room. Rory doesn't follow behind me. He stands by the window as I turn around to face him.
"She's the perfect help you need

. She's too gullible to notice you can see her." he points out. I nod and grab my blanket to shield against the cold room
"That's the only reason I haven't gotten her fired. But someday I--"
My door suddenly flies open behind me and I Rory is gone in a heartbeat. I don't turn around to check who it is. I have a good guess already.
"I heard you talking to someone." The irritating voice of the body guard dad insists should be with me says suspiciously and I can't resist rolling my eyes before I blink it shut.
"Didn't I warn you never to step your feet into my bedroom." I state cooly.
"I was just doing a routine check around the property."
"tell me, how would you like a routine termination from your job?"
"I'm sorry but you can't fire me from doing my job. Please step away from the window." I feel him come beside me to look out the window before pulling it down to close it.
"Was there or was there not someone in this room before I came in?" He breathes down my neck and I resist the urge to shove him.
"Are you accusing me of having an imaginary friend?" I ask instead.
"No."
"What then are you insinuating?" I dare him to say he's suspecting me. There's a brief silence before he speaks.
"Wait, is that blood?!" his fingers graze the under of my nose. Sh*t! Thought I wiped that off.
"Bl--blood?!" I stutter.
"I'm pretty sure it's blood." I hear him sniff.
"what the--"
"I was trying to get water last night and I walked into the wall. I don't see how any of this is your business though." I cover up.
"You walked into the wall." he trails off suspiciously.
"yes, i did. Now will you get out of my room. Or you want to routine check my nakedness!" I snap. The idiot doesn't move for a second before I hear his footsteps leaving and the door slamming shut.
"Idiot." I mutter.
"Not so much of an idiot huh?" Rory whispers from behind me
"How did he not see you? He checked out the window. I swear, I thought my heart was going to fall out of my chest."
"I'm faster than him." Rory shrugs.
"He's getting suspicious, Rory. The other day he dropped a cup beside my feet while I was in the kitchen and I almost tried to catch it, forgetting that I was supposed to be blind."
"We really need to get rid of him then. But how?" i toss the sheets back on the bed before flopping down on it. My mind plotting on how to do away with my nosy bodyguard.
"I got something." Rory says thoughtfully.
"Let's run him down." he continues.
"Run him down?"
"He can't be your bodyguard anymore if he's hospitalized."
"You want to beat up my bodyguard?"
"no. He just have to get hit by a car." Rory grins and I finally catch on.
"oh..." I trail off.
"yes, ohh"
"you are so evil." I tell him and his grin only gets wider.
"He's one of the bad guys if he works for your father. And I'm not going to kill him. Just put him in an hospital long enough for your dad to employ someone else. Someone you can fool." Rory explains and I nod.
"I can't say i feel bad for him." I say truthfully.
"ofcourse you don't."

*******

William:
"My love, you've waited for so long haven't you?" I drop the single rose on the grave and sigh. Emotions are already clogging my throat.
"This bad husband have missed three birthdays. I'm so sorry Dawn." I sob as I sit on the ground beside her grave.
"I'm here now though. We can blow out your candle together." I light up the lone candle on the cake I made at home just for her.
"I wanted you to be the first to try my cake. It's the only good thing I learnt in prison." I grimace as a soft wind passes and the candle goes off. It just triggers the release to all my pent up regrets and pain.
"I never should have asked you to stay with me. It's all my fault that you are in here. Away from our daughter. Aurora is such a blessing, Dawn. You should hear her talk." A sad smile touch my lips.
"I'm sure even in death, you're always watching over her. You were with her when i was lock up for all those four years weren't you?" a lone tear falls on my cheekbone and I brush it up.
"I said I was never going to cry but baby, I'm always brought me to my knees in agony whenever I think about how you died. Alone and without me. But don't worry Dawn, I'll make sure to get justice for you. The Williams. Your father. I'm going to make them regret everything they did to us. I'm going to make sure our daughter doesn't have to go through the same because of money. You see that money baby, I'm going to make it. And in blocks." The tears are already coming down in torrent and I don't try to stop them.
"ofcourse, I'll find you here." my mom smile sadly as she looks past me to Dawn's grave stone.
"what are you doing here?" I ask her.
"it's her birthday. You told me to always bring her roses." mom drops an identical rose on the grave.
"Aurora couldn't be here today. It's a school day." mom says quietly to Dawn's grave.
"You would think now that William is out he'll finally be here to take care of your child but he's hellbent on leaving again." mother spits.
"mom!" I exclaim.
"Barely a week of being with us, he wants to leave his child and mother again." mom turn sad eyes to mine.
"mom, you know I have to do this. For Dawn. For my baby and for you."
"How does running to the States help any one of us?"
"I'll be able to earn more there than here."
"you can earn as much here son."
"I can't mother! Look at me, I only own a waec certificate. Who hires an ex convict who's on parole and with no certificate?"
"but--"
"please mother. I just need you to take care of Aurora like you have been doing a fine job so far at. I have to do this. Even for just a year. Just till I have enough money to open my own bakery."
"You have always wanted to be a surgeon. You can still go to school now. I'll support you." I stand to brush the tears staining mom's cheeks. The wrinkles are testimonies of mom's age.
"I can't let you work that hard and long. Just give me a year.

. Please mom."
"I can't say no to you can I?"
"I love you so much mother." I hug her tightly. She's barely to my chest and I realise how much time has passed.
"I'm sorry for never being able to give you life finer things William. I should have sobered up enough to work hard back then. I should have fought for your inheritance for you. It's your right and All this might not have happened." she sob into my chest.
"We don't need their money. We just need to surpass them. That is the best payback we can serve them afterall." I assure.
"I'll never know what I did right to get a son like you." mom gives me a warm smile as she pulls away from me.
"I know I'm pretty awesome." I joke to lighten the mood. Mom chuckles and smack my shoulder lightly.
"I guess you are. Come on, lets go pick Aurora up from school. It's gonna be pretty hard telling the girl you have to leave again." mom says and I nod. I guess I have to say goodbye to my baby girl as well.
