Returned - Episode 4

“I want you gone, Elizabeth . Don’t you understand?” I yelled at her, clenching my fist as I paced in my room.
“I don’t have time to waste talking to you. I’ve got better things to do. Please don’t dial this number again, for your own good.”
I was about to speak but she ended the call right there. Angrily, I threw the phone on the bed . Damn, when did she become so stubborn?
I stopped pacing and began to think. When she was gone, I felt really relived. I couldn’t imagine what could be worse than everything I did to her. As much as I enjoyed toying with ladies’ feelings, something about her made me feel guilty after everything. Although I didn’t admit it, there was no way I would do that. It would only make people see Vance Gaines as being weak, that was not allowed.
I heard my dad’s voice and walked out of the room to meet him.
He was fastening his wristwatch and was dressed.
“On my way to the airport, I’ll see you in a couple of days.”
I nodded and watched him leave. My dad was a business man who wasn’t usually around most times. I was used to such.
The next day at school, I climbed out of my car and was heading towards the class when Killian stopped me

. He was like my enemy except that we were in the same team. He and I were nominated for the position of the team captain last month. I won him by four votes and since then, he and some of his close friends have been putting their eyes on me.
“Hey, man,” he said, slamming his hand on my back. “So I heard your girl is back.”
I grimaced as we walked down the corridor. “She’s no girl of mine.”
“Word is that she’s looking even more beautiful and hotter than before, what’s your take?”
I sighed. “I didn’t notice.”
Killian laughed. “You’re such one hell of a heartless heartbreaker aren’t you?”
I tried to laugh as well.
“See you later, Cap,” he said and walked away. I walked into James.
“What did he want?”
I turned to open my locker as I replied. “Nothing, just the usual stuff.”
As we were talking, I noticed Elizabeth walking in, with a girl. They were both talking together. On seeing her, I could have sworn my heart raced a bit faster. Her wavy blonde hair was packed at the center of her head and rolled into a bun. Those soft pink lips I had kissed few times echoed the blush on her cheeks. She used a pair of tiny earing on each of her earlobe which glinted as she walked. She was in a burgundy polo along with a pair of black Hollister skinny jeans.
“Oh, men!” James said, looking at her. “Is it just me or has this girl become more beautiful since she got back?”
That statement alone made me slam my locker and without any response, I walked away from him.
“Hey, hey, what was that for?”
I shrugged. “Nothing, if you think she’s so fine, then why don’t you ask her out?”
James looked surprised and then the surprised look turned into amusement. “Are you serious?”
I frowned. “About what?”
“You aren’t jealous, are you?”
I scoffed. “Jealous? Are you crazy?”
Without waiting any further for him to utter any more dumb words, I walked away.
The day dragged slowly until it was yet another time to go home. More people spoke to me in school, it made me feel better. I almost felt as if everything was normal, well, almost, my best friends were still not speaking to me.
I was passing by in front of the school when I by-passed two horny teenagers, who were aggressively making out. I pulled a disgusting expression at the scene.
They really needed to get a room, I said to myself. The blonde girl was straddled on top of the guy who…
Wait a minute, I know him.
The mystery guy looked more like Vance . The lady’s face was all over his, so I could be wrong.
My face morphed into pure disgust. Not wanting to see any more of this very disturbing scene, I looked away. Matt was blaring the horn of his car as he packed right in front of them. He couldn’t see them.
“Hey, need a ride?”
I momentarily looked back at them. It was Vance , alright, they could already tell they had company as they rapidly pulled away from each other. I gulped. Vance ’ eyebrows quirked in an angry fashion and his eyes flamed in fire once he acknowledged my presence. I grimaced towards his direction but instead rushed towards Matt’s car.
That son of a bitch hasn’t changed one bit.
I bade Matt goodbye and watched as his car disappeared down the road while I turned towards the house. I had just taken two stops when the honking of a car distracted me. I turned around but wasn’t surprised on seeing the black car I had seen earlier. I folded my hands as he drove like a crazy man, he stopped right next to me and climbed out.
“We need to talk!”
Vance ’ face was inches from mine and for the first time, I could see just how pissed and how angry he was.
There’s nothing for us to talk about,” I replied vehemently. He held my arm in a tight grip.
“I think we do, and you can’t tell anyone of what you saw today!”
“Of you engaged in some lip-lock with whatever her name may be. Now why the hell would I do that?” I pushed myself away and detached my arm from his tight grip.
His dark glare bore hells through my skull.
“Just for once, can you do as you’re told and don’t pretend for one second that this doesn’t affect you!”
I blinked rapidly, unable to digest the word that just came out of his mouth.
“What the hell is your problem?” I hollered as I shove my hands into his chest. “What business does it have to do with me? You’re such a conceited prick, you really should understand there are lots of things that are not about you! That thing,” I gestured at the space between us. “Whatever crazy thing happened between us those years ago was a mistake. I was stupid to have fallen for you in the first place, you were nothing but a big fat douchebag and nothing has changed. As long as I am concerned, you’re dead to me. So you see, there’s no reason for me to be jealous, get that into your skull!”
It’s been building to this. Ever since the incident happened, he and I have never talked like this. I was prepared for this, to say what I just spoke but right now, I wasn’t ready for the outcome.
For what seemed like eternity, he said nothing. But then he did, “It appears you’re yet to get over the past,” his voice was cold and my heart lodged into my throat.
His words pierced my soul but I managed to stabilize my breathing.
“You have no idea how I’m feeling so I suggest you get the hell out of my face!”
I could already feel the tears welling up behind my eyes as I glared at him. He was fully aware that he was walking on a sacred ground.
I wouldn’t cry…no, I would never give him that satisfaction.
I turned away but he blocked my path.
“You know I’m right. Stop pretending like you’re over it…”
It was just too much.

. My heart was beating so fast as I heard him speak. I tilted my face to face him but I knew it was a very big mistake because as soon as I locked eyes with him, everything around me faded away. His cold expression broke me and there was nothing I could do to stop it.
“Look, Vance . I could care less if you sleep with a dozen girls per day. I don’t care. This conversation is certainly unnecessary and I am done speaking with you.”
Saying this, I pushed him away and walked into the house. As I got in, I sank to my knees, my whole body shook. Thankfully, my mum wasn’t around. I had promised I wasn’t going to cry but all I could do was cry.
WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT TEENAGE LOVE. DAMN! I ACTUALLY TRIED NOT TO PUNCH MYSELF WHILE WRITING THIS. HAPPY SUNDAY FOLKS. I DON'T WRITE ON WEEKENDS BUT THIS TIME IS AN EXCEPTION.
