Returned - Episode 8

 

HEY LOVERS, SO SORRY ABOUT THE MISTAKE WITH 6 AND 7. I'M TRYING TO RUSH SO I CAN WRAP THIS UP ON TIME BEFORE I GET TOO BUSY AND KEEP YOU ON HOLD.  SO TO CLARIFY THINGS. 2 YEARS AGO, VANCE CHEATED ON ELIZABETH WITH HER BESTFRIEND AND SHE FOUND OUT. NOT ONLY THAT, HE HUMILIATED HER. THIS WILL BE FOUND IN CHAPTER 6, SO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW. NOW IN 7, HE BROUGHT HER HOME COS IT WAS RAINING . SO WE CAN CONTINUE FROM THERE. I opened my eyes….

Everything seemed a bit blurry but I was able to identify the pink color of the wall of my room. I yawned while looking at the clock. It was some minutes past six in the morning. I had slept that long?

I tried to remember what happened the previous night but all I could recall was coming home from school and nothing else after. I frowned, that was really strange.

How come I couldn’t remember anything after?

There was a warm scent I could deduce around me. It felt strangely familiar.

“Mum?” I called out but there was no answer.

I straightened up, only then did I realize I was wearing the same cloth I had worn to school and aside that,  I was wearing a brown leather jacket. Frowning, I pulled it off, staring at it and wondering where it came from

. As I held it closer to my face, the familiar scent hit me and I realized it was the scent of a cologne…when I realized whose it was, I dropped it on the floor.

How come I’m wearing that bastard’s jacket?

My memory was all fuzzy but I was able to remember he picked me up on the road but everything else faded away. How did I get to my room? When did I wear his jacket? Oh my goodness! Was I drunk?

I tried to breathe into my palm to inhale my own breath but there was nothing like alcohol except the bad mouth odor from just waking up.

“Hey, honey.”

My mum opened the door, she was already dressed for work. “I’m off to work, you should call your father, he’s been calling you all night.”

She stopped and stared at me while fasting her wristwatch.

“Are you alright, darling? You should pick that jacket up, the boy was kind enough to let you wear it. Don’t ruin it for him.”

I gasped. “Oh my god! Mum, did you, did you see him?”

She frowned, you mean the Gaine boy?”

I nodded.

“Of course, you should have seen how he carried you in, I was surprised. He said he didn’t want to wake you up that you were so drenched. He’s really sweet…”

“Mum! He came into my room?” I asked, raising my voice.

“Yes, chill! Would you have preferred he woke you? Learn to appreciate people, perhaps it’ll make it easier for you to have a boyfriend. Oh, by the way, I invited him over for dinner tonight.”

I gasped in horror. She did what?

Before I could speak, she was already gone.

Oh my goodness! I really couldn’t believe this was happening!

All through the class, my mind was not at rest. All I could think about was how to convince him not to come to dinner tonight. Why would mum even do something like that without consulting me first?

He was always sitting at the back of the class whenever he wasn’t ditching class, so it was easy to avoid looking at him.

Hours later, I sat in the cafeteria with Camille, Rose and Emily  sat in the next seat. I was finally beginning to accept that things would never be the same between Rose and I anymore, strangely, I didn’t care anymore.

“So, what are you going to do?” Camille asked. I had just filled her in with everything that happened, she was my new BFF.

“I don’t know, I might need to find him and give him back his jacket. Then threaten him to not come for dinner.”

Camille laughed. “I don’t think Vance  would succumb to your threats.”

“Well, I still got to try,” I replied, looking around for him in the cafeteria but couldn’t find him. He must be somewhere locking lips with some poor girl, I screwed my nose in disgust and then stood up. “I’ll be right back.”

I took my leave and had just walked out of the cafeteria when I heard my name. I stopped and was surprised to see Rose.

“Can I talk to you?” she asked.

I nodded. “Of course.”

She sighed. “I’m sorry for being hard on you…I was just really angry about everything…”

I smiled. “It’s alright, I’m very sorry as well.”

“I’m happy you’re back,” she continued and embraced me. “I’ve missed you.”

“Missed you too,” I replied but then saw Vance  leaving a class with some lady on his arm. “Rose, please, I need to do something, could you please excuse me?”

Without waiting, I rushed out after Vance . When I found him outside, just like I expected, he was kissing the same girl I had seen in his car. That idiot would never change.

I watched them for a while. How could he not care anyone could work in on them? I held his jacket in my hand the whole time so I just threw it over both their heads.

“What the hell!” shouted the lady as he removed the jacket and they saw me.

“You really have a problem, stalker!” she spat at me, folding her arms.

“I’m not here for you, slut,” I retorted. The lady gasped and stepped closer to me, to my surprise, she slapped me.

Before I could think of returning it, Vance  slapped her back, catching us both by surprise.

“Don’t ever touch her again, now leave.”

The lady gasped, stared at us both but left nonetheless.

I was shocked, I couldn’t explain what that was all about. He was wiping his lips with his handkerchief and facing me.

“You wanted to see me?”

I cleared my throat. “Well, I…Urm…” Damn the guy for getting me so confused. “My mum said she invited you to dinner.”

He nodded, stepping close to me, too close, I had to step back. “Yes, is that a problem?”

“Yes, you can’t come,” I replied, trying to look into his eyes.

“Why not?”

“Because I’m uninviting you,” I replied. “I don’t want you there.”

“And what if I show up?” he demanded, folding his arms and giving me that look which was always making my legs go weak. What was it about him that made me so vulnerable?

“I just don’t want you there,” I retorted.

“Your desire not to see me there further peaks my interest.” He gave a devilish grin and stepped closer, so close I could almost feel his breath on my face. Something leapt in me.

. “I’m definitely coming, it will be a delight to see you miserable,” he then walked away, slightly brushing past me.

I turned to leave but then saw Matt, he had a look of disappointment on his face. I felt slightly ashamed as I walked towards him.

DON'T KNOW WHY IT'S VERY COMMON BUT IT IS. PERHAPS THERE'S A VIEW OF GOOD WITH GOOD BEING BORING AND BAD WITH BAD SPELLS A COMPLETE DISASTER. SO, GOOD AND BAD KIND OF BALANCE THE WHOLE THING....I DON'T KNOW, WHAT DO YOU THINK?
