Earlier that morning, Noah and Thato had headed out to a destination unknown to me, because I'd woken up to notice their absence, leaving Milo as my trainer for that morning's session.

"Okay banshee, give me ten more push-ups," he demanded, leaning over me.

At this, a slight groan had escaped my lips as I tried to do as ordered; my arms felt nothing short of sore.

Letting out a sigh, Milo had then crouched down next to me. "Come on Lulu, just two more and we'll pretend you made it to a hundred, and not tell Noah anything, okay." He whispered with a wink.

And despite my burning, aching muscles, I managed to carry off the final two before rolling onto my back . And it was only once I'd gotten a hold of my breath, that I grumbled an appreciation into the soil, thus inciting a light chuckle from Milo.

"You're welcome." He mouthed. Nonetheless, his gaze refused to shift from mine..

It really wasn't the first time I'd noticed him look at me like that, and I honestly wondered why. At first, I'd thought it was basically because we just met; I'd thought I was a new face he was trying to get accustomed to

. However, at that point, I was beginning to doubt the authenticity of that notion.

"What?" I inquired. "Why do you look at me like that?"

Instantly, he'd shifted his gaze to meet that of the muddy ground, looking my way only sporadically. "I'm sorry if I creep you out," he apologised. "But.. you just look so much like Shiela." He emphasised yet again, just like he'd said on our very first encounter, and for the briefest of seconds, I wondered what the connection between himself and my mother really was, but that was nothing more than a mere thought. I hadn't dared to venture any further.

Instead, I merely gave a weak smile in return.

"We used to be so happy living together with her.. " He continued. "Until those monsters attacked us!" He spat angrily. I could almost feel the pain in his words, buried deep into the memories he was sure to never let go of.

Short of words, I'd allowed the silence that followed for a few seconds, only blurting out sometime later. "Milo, can I ask you something?" He nodded, a cue for me to go on. "If there are other packs of shape-shifters, like you guys claim, then where are they?"

"In their respective territories, just like we also are," He started. "Our setting is similar to that of the human society. We're differentiated by our beliefs, culture, and things of the sort, whilst stepping into another packs' territory is like deliberately asking for a duel."

"Does the same applies to the Vampires? Are they also divided into packs?" I pushed further.

And I'd noticed the creases that immediately formed between his brows. "Like we told you earlier, we just recently found out about the Vampires. We really don't know much about them. As far as we know, there's just one pack, the same ones that attacked us.."

"Okay," I whispered, rubbing my nervous hands together.

"Lulu Madiba, there's nothing to be scared about, trust me," He assured. "Last night, you brought your potential to life.

. You did something that even Shiela was never able to do. Last night, you healed Thato, and seriously that's a big deal."

"Healed him from what though?" I inquired, bringing the previous incident back to play. Thato had really seemed to be in grave pain, but one thing was for certain, it wasn't something physical. I hadn't seen a scar or a bruise, or any other thing of the sort..

Milo heaved a short sigh. "Let's just say that our special abilities has its disadvantage. Thato can see through the future, but whenever he sees anything, it is always accompanied by what you saw last night; he starts experiencing intense pain... It usually last for a few hours, and in those moments, we just have to hold onto him to avoid anything unfortunate." He explained.

But I was as curious as ever. "So what did he see this time?"

"He saw the Vampires," came his simple response. "According to him, they are coming for us."

"What?" I shrieked. "So what are we going to do?"

"Wait... We're just going to wait for them," Noah's voice echoed from behind me.
