Brothers - Episode 21

 

Jacob was released and came back to work. He was assigned to work on the figures he had initially altered, It took a month before they were able to get back in business but they were able to recover back the assets the company had initially lost.

"I believe we would no longer be having challenges from Royal lines.." Sonia said

"No that has been effectively dealth with" Richard said

"I'm happy this has all ended and we can now put it all behind us, thank you for the support and not pulling out during the time of crisis" Raymond said, knowing some of the investors had pulled out during the ordeal

"We have our differences but business is business, we are bound to face some challenges" Charles said

"Thank you all the same" Raymond said then looked at Jacob who was tidying up some files "we would no longer be needing your services Jacobs.."he said with a look, Jacob looked at him then Richard who looked at him passively

" are you..firing me?"

"I think that's what its called.."

"What..you can't do that ." he raved then stood up "do you know I've been here before you were born.." he shouted

"Good to know that" Richard said as he was bundled away by security

"So that's a wrap, thank you gentlemen...and Ladies." Raymond said as they all shook hands till it was just the two of them in the board room, they hit hands and hugged

"We did it bro.."Raymond said happily

"Wish father was here.." Richard said pulling away

"Glad he's not...to see what we initially did with his company.." Raymond said sadly then looked at his brother "I'm glad we are back"

"Yeah....we finally decided to grow up"

A cocktail party was thrown to celebrate the recovery that weekend, all the company  workers and board members were present with their dates. After they had moved around and socialized, Raymond finally hit his glass to draw their attention

"I will like to make a toast, to my Father, bless his soul who was the brain behind this company and my Mother who was solidly behind the idea.." He looked at his Mother who smiled at him then continued

"To my brother..and everyone who had made sure they were behind us during this period of trial knowing that we would come out victorious, stronger than ever." he paused"...My father wanted me to be in charge..for his reason...which may have been that he feared Richard would not be able to handle the business well but you all can attest to the fact that he has worked tirelessly this past month  to make sure that this company comes to where it presently is today..." he was still saying but Richard raised his hand that he wanted to say something, Raymond quirked his eyebrow but gave him the floor. Richard walked to the middle and looked around

"You all know me, I'm the troublemaker of the duo.." Laughter followed "that same trouble was given to my father, yes I was the lucky one always around him but I gave him lot of issues..I did learn the ropes of the company and his wisdom in handling business...but one day he asked me.." What would you do if I gave you my company?" ,I replied "I would sell it" because all I was thinking about then was my own gains, I thought that if I sold it I would be able to expand mine..."he paused as persons looked at each other in wonder "well that was the selfish me talking, I realize now that my father felt his company was not safe if he Willed it to me which was why of course it was given to my brother .."he turned to look at Raymond who was gaping shocked at the revelation "Father loved this company to bits, he called it his baby.

. I knew that, I was just a selfish bastard and I'm sorry...truly sorry"he turned to look  at the others again "why am I saying this.. My father did the right thing in giving to my brother, I imagine what I would have done with it otherwise.. I don't want it, I don't deserve it, my brother is the head and I would support him, because we are family and family stick together no matter what..besides what time would I have handling both companies, I'm about to start my family, since Isabel has agreed to marry me.."he said and that broke the tension as everybody smiled and clapped, Isabel walked to him and held his hand, smiling with the ring on her left hand flashing for all to see, he kissed it then told his brother "I didn't want you starting a speech about how i was the better man for the job, because I'm obviously not" he finished and there was silence again as everyone waited for Raymond to talk

"Wow, that was a long speech"he said,  laughs.." And quite revealing too...I've fought with my brother for so long, I think I stopped knowing him.."he paused for effect "I am going to quit my job.. " he said, there were murmurs".. and focus on the company.. "he continued "seeing how much of a responsibility my father entrusted on me.." he paused again" I think he was wrong, I'm the less responsible twin, to think how I've put this company as a second option... "he stopped then looked around" if you would all work with me, we would take this company to the level my father dreamed of.." There were claps and excited screams

"I love you bro" he told Richard who came and hugged him, there were more claps as Raymond spied their Mother who had tears in her eyes as she looked at them.

He wished his father was there but knew he was turning in his grave.

*This story is about forgiveness of the seemingly unforgivable event..cheating. The strongest relationship (Jessica and Raymond) can fall apart because of unforgiveness.

Family is always family no matter what differences we may have, let's always remember that.
