Brothers - Episode 1

 

Richard laughed with his friends, as they cheered hitting glasses, it was the bachelor party of one of his homies Chuks who was getting married the next day to his fiancee, Jennifer.

"I can't believe Chuks finally got chained" he said sitting on the cushion

"When you get the fever, you know it" Chuks replied as they all laughed

Richard saw his phone ringing  and looked at it

"Who's that, the girlfriend?" Prince asked with a smirk

"Shut up"he stood up and walked away from his noisy friends" hey Is...?"he said

"Are you coming back tonight?"she asked, he had left her at home as usual, they had had a swell time before he had left for the party "missing you already" she said

"No we uh....I might not return" not with all the chicks he had at his beck and call tonight "don't wait up" he said

" Okay"she sounded disappointed "I guess I'll just go back home" she cut before he could reply.

He stared at the phone then went back to the party as Prince popped another bottle of Champagne

"Where's your brother, why isn't he here?" Chuks asked as he sat down again

"He's on call" he said regretfully..his brother was usually always in the hospital so it was safe to assume.

He and Raymond were not on speaking terms as usual, the last time they talked Raymond had walked angrily out of his office. One would think they would be close because they were identical twins but it was not the case with them.

They both were busy with their lives and had been at logger heads since they were children, fighting over everything, their mother had reasoned that as they grew older, things would change but it didn't, especially as their father recently passed and the will was being contended.

They had always had different circle of friends also and were polar opposites, the only similarities they had were their physical attributes

. Richard found it annoying to be able to look at someone who was his mirror image yet did not see him eye to eye. He couldn't believe he shared the same placenta with Raymond, because even in career they had chosen different paths. 

He was the CEO of his own company while Raymond was a Medical Practitioner, his girlfriend Isabel was a medical doctor too and he had met her while she was still in medical school and had mistook him for his brother. He had then thought she was  the most beautiful thing he had ever laid his eyes on and hadn't hesitated to collect her number, it was almost love at first sight because they had clicked immediately and a month later he was asking her to be his girlfriend.

They had been dating off and on for three years now and he planned to propose soon, had even asked for his brother's help with that since they were quite close, but he wondered why she was always calling to check up on him almost as if she was scared he was cheating.

Prince passed him another drink as the girls arrived, he knew the party just got started as a girl came to sit on his thighs and he forgot all about his girlfriend.

"Hey boo.."Jessica said, 

"Baby sup...sorry I've been busy with work and all" he roved his hair glad he was even able to pick her call, he just got out of theatre, he had seen her missed calls when he came out of surgery

"Okay, wanted to tell you I'm going out of town"she said

Raymond frowned, his girlfriend was always travelling "where?" he asked wondering

"Dubai...I'm sorry but it was so sudden, I just landed this and I couldn't say no"

He sighed "Okay, but when would you be back, we had plans for this weekend".

" I know, but this is my job, maybe two weeks?"

He sighed, his girlfriend was a model and he didn't know how he could cope with her celebrity life sometimes but he loved her and they were just a year old, he couldn't start complaining now...

"Fine, just lemme know when you land"

"If you pick, busy bee" she said, "I ll bring you pictures of my beautiful self, I love you baby "

"I love you too" he said as he cut and sighed, he was going to be alone for another two weeks. But that would give him time to face his brother in court concerning the will.
