***** Emerald continues to stare. Darren sighs. "Listen,about yesterday, I'm sorry... It was disrespectful... I'm sorry..can we talk now?". "No... I'm a very busy person... It took me a great deal of effort to get to where I am Mr Adams... And I value my time as well.. I took time to come and see you and I was met with a totally disrespectful scene.. Right now, I'm busy so I suggest you leave.. . At my leisure time, I will call you to talk business... Goodbye". Emerald says and walks out on him before he could utter another word... Only God knows how she resisted the urge to turn and look at him one more time. ********* Emerald lazily drags her tired body to the couch and sits while Tonia carries the numerous bags containing different foodstuffs and decorating materials they had bought earlier.... It was a windy Saturday morning and they had spent several hours moving from one shop to the other to buy things needed for a birthday party.. "If this is your boyfriend's apartment then why are we here? He might come here any moment". Emerald says to Tonia. "No.. Steven won't be back till later in the evening". "Okay... Let's start cooking.... Then we can decorate the place" Emerald says getting up. "You are not so cold like you seem..

. You are really a nice person... I think I like you already". "I like you too Tonia... You are my first official friend" she grins. "Seriously? You never made friends? Like never?". "Well yea... I spoke to a few people during and after school but we never became friends.. Like official friends". "Wow!" Tonia mutters as she pours some flour into a bowl, and breaks several eggs into it.. "Yeah" Emerald says and begins to slice onions on a chopping board in front of her.... ********* "What's wrong Steven? It's been several years since i celebrated birthdays with you and you dont seem happy" Darren questions his childhood friend. "That's not the case okay... My girlfriend hasn't called to wish me since morning... It's getting late already.. I'm so mad right now". "Cummon dude.. She might be caught up in some important work". "Important work? Today is Saturday Darren!!!.. I'm supposed to be her priority". "Let's go to your apartment, play some music and have some drinks. Who knows, she might probably be waiting for you in your bedroom" he winks.. "Yh shit!! How could I forget? cummon!!" Steven exclaims happily getting up as Darren follows laughing. ******** "I can hear the sound of his car.. Put the lights out!!" Tonia whispers as everyone rushes to get the place in order and someone puts out the light.. ********* "The lights are out Darren, see.. No one is home.." Steven frowns as they walk towards the apartment.. He fumbles for his keys in his pocket and inserts it into the keyhole.... He pushes the door open and stops in his tracks when the lights suddenly come on and a loud "Happy birthday" could be heard from across the room. He didn't even have time to access the beautiful decoration when he spotted Tonia walking towards him dressed in a beautiful floral yellow and white flare v-neck dress... Her hair was neatly packed in a pony tail... "Happy birthday baby" she whispers into his ear and kisses him.. "Wow!!" He exclaims clearly dumbfounded. "Do you like your surprise?" "It's... Beautiful baby" he breathes as he rests his eyes on the beautiful drawings on the wall with balloons hanging over each painting with inscriptions written on each... He had never seen anything like that before.. "It was my friend's idea.. She was the one that drew all that and painted it". "Friend?" "Oh yea.. She's my new friend.. And she's not like the rest of my friends.. This one is cool and sweet.. You'll meet her soon.. She's changing in your guest room. You'll like Emerald when..". "Emerald?" Darren cuts in. "Yes.. And oh.... You were the one that came looking for her yesterday right?" Tonia asks turning to face him. "You got yourself a girlfriend and you didn't tell me?... Well Tonia, this is Darren, my one and only good friend who has been out of the country for several years" Steven introduces them... "Nice to meet you... Oh ermm.. Let me go check If Emerald needs anything.." She turns and stops "oh there she is!!".

. Darren turns in that direction and sees Emerald walking towards them dressed in a bright purple lacy off shoulder dress.. Her head was bent down as she was adjusting the hem of her dress.. She seemed uncomfortable.... Then she raised her head, throwing her hair backwards over her shoulders as she stood straight and their eyes met... Darren's mouth drops open in awe as his heart catches in his chest at the glorious sight before him... His heart does a double flip. Damn!! ******* Frederick pushes his phone into his pocket and smiles.. Darren had gone to a birthday party and he was sure was going to that party too... He smiles,knowing very well the reason for which he was going there wouldn't be good... A/N So Frederick is going to that party... Seems Emerald is In for a big surprise......
