Baami dropped Oyindamola's body on the floor and patted her softly to check how she was feeling. Her body was extremely hot. Baami wasn't his name but that was what Ayinke called him indicating 'my father.'

"What are we going to do, Ayinke," he asked.

"I'll boil water and use it to massage her whole body. Maybe when she is awake, I'll ask if she wants to eat anything; she looks tired out and hungry . I think she is still alive; God help us." Ayinke walked to the back of their house and after about some minutes, she walked back with a steaming bucket of hot water. They lived in a plastered hut covered with zinc. The clayed soil used to mould the block could still be seen from underneath the house, where the cement had scraped from. She dropped the bucket down and dipped the wrapper into the bucket, then brought it out and placed it on the part of her body with a slight cut. Oyindamola moved quickly at every pains of it. She winced slowly.

"She is alive," Ayinke thought to herself and felt relieved. Baami had already walked out with his equipment to fetch not so lucky bush meats that would come her way.

After Ayinke had finished massaging her body, she took the bucket and walked away. She returned with a plate of food and dropped it beside Oyindamola

. She stayed there and watched her for about some minutes before she finally opened her eyes slowly. She looked frantically and wanted to move her body. It hurt badly as she grunted.

"Don't be too forward please. Move slowly. You'll be fine," Ayinke said softly. Her petite body gave her off as a sixteen year old girl but she was nineteen and ripe for marriage by the custom of her community.

Oyindamola scanned her eyes through the whole surrounding. Everywhere looked different. The room was slightly dim. She guessed maybe she had been taken to be sheltered by the hand that held her inside the cage.

"Who are you?" Oyindamola asked on s low pitched voice.

"I'm Ayinke. We saw you on the floor lying half dead."

Oyindamola drifted her face backward to take another look at Ayinke, "I hope you are not a spirit," she said tearily. She wanted to lift her hand and it fell slowly. Her stomach grumbled in hunger.

"I am so hungry. I haven't eaten since...." What's is today's date? She asked as her voice went from high to low.

"Monday."

"Really? Since Saturday," she said tearily.

"Okay, I brought a plate of food for you."

"Thank you," Oyindamola tried to sit up from the cold slab she laid on. She finally sat up after several attempts and her body shook vigorously. She picked up the spoon and it fell from her hand. She used her hand to devour the plate of rice until there was nothing remaining in it. Ayinke smiled calmly as she watched her finished every piece of rice and licked the plate.

"Arrgh, Ayinke mi. I caught three bush meat today. Oluwa ese o."

"Aww, baami.

. The pot of soup would be filled with meat today. I'm so help," she said and held her chest tightly. She ran out from the house to welcome her father.

"Let's go in," Baami said and gestured to Ayinke. She took the equipment from him and they walked inside the house. Baami and Oyindamola eyes locked together.

"Bawo ni? I hope you are fine."

"I am not. I'm still hungry," she said and her eyes blinked slowly.

"I thought you were suppose to give her food," He said turning to Ayinke.

"Baami, I did. I think she hasn't eaten for two days. She seems too hungry."

"Give her another one. I'm going to roast one of the bush meat for her," Baami said and walked out of the house to the back of the house where the kitchen was located. Ayinke came back with a pot of rice and dropped it at the front of Oyindamola.

"Don't worry, you'll regain your energy back. Everything will be fine."

Oyindamola ate gluttonously and gulped down a big cup of water and exhaled.

"I want to sleep," she muttered.

"It's okay," Ayinke said and walked out of the house with the dirty pot.
