Ngozi ate her food slowly while she sat face to face with her mother. Their eyes locked together occasionally and Ngozi drifted her face away anytime it happened . She wanted to talk each times but words usually failed her.

"I know you are angry. I'm sorry, girl. But...I was really hungry. You can pay her visit when you are done eating,' she said and let out a beaming smile while the fork she had on her hand dropped and clinked with the ceramic plate making disjointed sounds. Ngozi flashed a smile, "thank you mum." She abandoned her food, drifted the chair backward and stood up, then walked close to her mother. She gave her mother a hug, and encircled her tightly.

"Why are you so excited about seeing Oyindamola? You both saw each other yesterday before I drove you home. So why the fuss?"

"Nothing mum," she replied wryly.

"Are you sure? Well, it could be that nobody was at home when we honked at their gate. Maybe her mother went to get her from the school."

"Oh, you have a point, mum

. But, what about their gateman? Her daddy?"

"Well, it's none of my business. I barely know them." Her mother stood up and sashayed into the room. Ngozi still sitting down on the dining chair, meditated for a while before standing up. She walked into her mother's room. She opened the door and her mum was sitting looking at the mirror. She turned immediately Ngozi waltzed in and concentrated her full glare at Ngozi.

"What's the problem?" Her eyes rotated around.

"I think I'll pay her a visit tomorrow. She might still not be back today," she said and arched her brow. Her mother nodded in an affirmation and gesticulated for her to leave. Ngozi hopped out of the room into the sitting. She changed the station to her favourite TV show and smiled happily at every dialogues.
Oyindamola opened her eyes and it was already morning. Everywhere was brightly coloured. The day was bright and the birds cawed. She looked forward and it was a dimmed cave ahead of her. Her stomach rummaged in hunger and she growled in pain. She staggered up. She got to the cave and peeped through. She shouted and her voice echoed back at her. Droplets of tears tickled down her eyes. Just take me away death, I'm tired, she thought to herself and used her hands to wipe the tears away. She flung her hands in the air, as she tried to peer through the cave. The wind started blowing nonstop and immediately, heavy rain descended from the sky and poured down making her wet; she shivered inside her soaked cloth.

. She limped quickly into the cave and she felt a hand dragged her forcefully as they scampered through the tiny paths inside the cave. Her head and eyes rotated in a clockwise motion and she felt dizzy while breezily moving. Her body brushed through the wall of the cave leaving marks on her body. Her cries was low pitched. The eerie hand flung her to the air and she landed at the dusty main road. Her eyes were close as she laid lifelessly on the ground.

A man that hung a hoe on his shoulder with a hat on his head, holding a bow and arrow walked by and saw her stilly body.

"Arrghh, Ayinke mi, come and see," he shouted. A young girl of about sixteen ran out from the path at the opposite bush were the man had walked out from.

"Ki lo nso, baami?" she asked.

"Mi o mo," he replied. "Arghhh, Egba mi o, I think something bad happened in the other bush," he said and stressed it in his Yoruba accent.

"I think so, baami. I think she is still alive," she said pointing.

"Yes, I noticed she just breathed now," he bent down slowly and touched her chest. He dropped his equipments on the floor and lifted her up, then placed her on his shoulder. Ayinke bent down and picked the equipments and followed her father slowly while they walked down the path.
