She walked in quickly and entered the kitchen, then searched frantically and dashed out to the sitting room. She paced around the sitting room for a while before moving close to the sofa. She stood and rested her hand on the sofa while her gaze was at the television.

"A little girl was hit by a car while she ran towards the road according to an eye witness. It's still undisclosed as to what was the reason she was being chased . She is lucky that the injuries weren't that serious; she only fell into coma," a young woman in a light makeup read out with her face fixed at the screen. She was the newscaster and her mouth moved in a way Esther found fascinating. The picture of the young girl was shown immediately and Esther looked dazed as she saw the face, "Ngozi!" she blurted out quickly and ran out screaming at the top of her voice. The gateman ran towards her, and they both walked back to the sitting room gazing at the television as Ngozi was televised laying in the hospital bed with some parts of her body bandaged. Not long after, the newscaster moved to the next news.

"You sabi the hospital name?" The gateman asked sharply.

"Na general hospital na. It's not too far from here

. It's just few minutes drive down Haruna street, then you reverse to your right. The fare is only fifty naira."

"Okay o. That's good. I don go back to my gatepost," he said and walked away whilst soliloquizing.

Ngozi's mother honked at the gate and nobody answered. The side of the street close to Oyindamola's house was deserted. Only few people passed in hour intervals. She honked again and nobody answered. She turned off the ignition and alighted. She walked to the gate and tried knocking but the gate opened swiftly. Oh, she thought to herself.

"Who is there?" She said and peeped in. Everywhere looked deserted as the wind blew ceaselessly. It was dark and she couldn't see clearly. She walked in and switched on her phone's flashlight and flicked it around the whole compound.

"Who is here?" She yelled again at the continuous slow breeze. Her voice echoed back at her. She heard the gate made a creaking sound as if someone was trying to lock it, she turned back quickly and  flashed her light, a girl laughed uncannily and something hovered into the boys quarter. She started drifting backward slowly till she got to the gate, she made to push the gate open and run away but it was locked. She freaked out in astonishment. She tried to turn and position herself very well, and noticed a hand yanked off her phone from her hand. It fell and smashed. She yelled and turned quickly in zig zag motion, and a hand held her by the neck.

It was past nine and Ngozi's mother wasn't back yet. Esther was worried and stood up after sitting on the sofa for so long. The dinner she prepared was getting cold. She waltzed out of the house immediately and walked towards the boys quarter. She knocked and Ochuko answered, "wetin, shey madam don return with Ngozi?" He said with a voice stuffed with food

"No, na why I dey worried. I'm really worried. I hope all is well."

Ochuko walked out from the boys quarter with a bowl while he scooped garri with his spoon and slurped it repeatedly.

"How I go sleep if my madam no come back today? I hope everything is fine," Esther said with a face written in worries.

"I been dey guess she don hear the news and go the hospital. We no fit tell. She fit sleep there or come back today "

"Arrgh, you get point," Esther said and smiled.

"I dey tell you say I get brain since," Ochuko gestured and let out a weird laughter.

"Na you sabi" Esther said, gestured and walked back to the house. She slept amidst worries and thumping heart till the next day arrived.
