Mirage - Episode 11

 

Minerva

  The gate magically opens and I don't wait to consider how. I Just quickly slip through before it starts closing again. Am already free to get to my destination; the reason I came back but I am still standing in front of the gate wondering about that stranger who i now know to be Jerry. I am sure I saw him bring down a big guy just hours ago and just now, he was like a weak nerd . Something is fishy and I want to know what his deal is.

  The gate starts opening again and I quickly hide behind the pointless trees dad had professionals plant on either sides of our gate. I hear footfalls pass me and I count to twenty before I look out to see the guards running towards the road. I smirk and come out of hiding only to be startled by Jerry resting on his car opposite the tree I was hiding in, grinning like he just won a trophy.
"My God! How long have you been there? You almost scared my ghost out of my body."I slap his shoulder.
"Ouch! Why are you always hurting me? Didn't you see me taking a beating in there because of you?" he asks rubbing his shoulder like it hurts.
"Look! I don't know why you let that guard treat you like that. I saw how you took out that guard this morning so what is up with you?" I point narrowed eyes at him

. I can see he's trying to hide the fact that he's fidgeting.
"Hey! Miss! You can't leave without us. Your dad is not going to be happy." I hear behind me and we both turn towards the noise to see two of the guards running towards us. I look from them to Jerry and give him pleading eyes.
"Count me out. I have been beaten enough for one day" he says and enter into his car. I hear the engine start and I curse the bastard in my mind. The guards are so close now. No where to run to. Who knows when I would get another chance to find out about my mom.
"Hey, what are you waiting for?  Get in!" Jerry yells just as the guards are just few feets away from grabbing me.
 I quickly open the door and jump in.
"Go! Go!"I yell. Both guards stand in front of the car motioning for us to stop the car and get off. I see Jerry smirk then step on the accelerator. The car picks up speed and the guards dive out of the way. I see the particular guard who humiliated Jerry fall on his face as he kisses the dust.
"1-1"Jerry says and I chuckle.
"So where to peanuts" he ask me and I think on whether I should let him take me there. He may be suspicious but I have never felt alive and safe with anyone else. This might be a trick to kidnap chief's daughter and even though I can totally take care of my self, one more security ain't bad right?' Come on Minerva, who are we kidding? We just want to be with this guy for much longer' my subscious smirk at me and I give her a mental middle finger. I just need this guy as protection. Nothing more.
"No 8 St Charles Thomas street" I read out from my phone.
"Do you know where this is?" I ask and he nods. 
"Its a notable place"

 Twenty minutes later
"Here we are" I announce and I hit park in front of the seven storey building. 
"Woah. Please tell me No 8 is that small building over there." minerva says as she alight the car. Her eyes are as wild as saucers.
"Don't tell me you haven't seen a building this tall before? Weren't you in Canada for a long time" I ask, puzzled.
"Well I have seen taller buildings. Obviously" she says with a smile that looks like a grimance. I see sweat on her fore head. I walk to her side of the car and feel her head.
"Peanuts. Are you okay?" I ask and she nods so fast I fear her head might fall off.
"Okay. So I'll leave you here. I gotta go now" I say and she grab my hand before I can walk back to the driver's side of the car.
"Stop!" she yell panicked. Her hands are totally shaking.
"What is it?"
"Can you go in with me? Look, I know this might sound strange but seeing  this building just sent chills down my spine."  I look into her eyes and see pain and fear. What's going on?
"Okay. Fine." I breathe out. I really can't leave her like this.
 
She doesn't let go of my hand as we walk into the building. The ground floor is a mall just as I thought. I actually thought this was a shopping expenditure for her but the way she is gripping my hand tells me this is something more.
"So, where are we heading to first? Clothes, make up, shoes or bags?"I ask her.

"So, where are we heading to first? Clothes, make up, shoes or bags?" Its like I have heard this same sentence before. My head feels light and my vision starts to get fuzzy. The words echo in my head and It's starting to hurt really bad. I grab a hold of my hair with my left hand still holding on to Jerry's hand.
"Minerva" I hear a distance voice whisper and I turn to see my mom holding my hands. She's smiling at me.
"So, where are we heading to first? Clothes, make up, shoes or bags?" She's saying.
"Mom?" I sob out
"Minerva. Stay here. Mommy's going to be back for you okay." she's whispering. I can barely hear her. She trying to remove her hands from mine but I hold on tighter. I am crying.

. Heart wrenching tears. I can't let her leave me alone.
"Minerva! My God peanuts!" Why does her voice sound like Jerry's? my head is banging. I shut my eyes against the pain. I feel liquid touch my eye lids and I force my eyes open. 
"She's awake! Peanuts. You scared me. Can you see me? You just lost consciousness as soon as I asked you where you want to start your shopping. I had to bring you upstairs to the dispensary. You have been sobbing and calling for your mom though."Jerry rambles. I see a nurse standing beside him and I shut my eyes and open them again. Was that a memory of my mom or was I hallucinating. Who was after us?
I have to find all the pieces of my memories.
