Rory:

"Next two weeks Saturday Sir. We'd be ready for the grand opening then. Yes sir. Thank you sir. Okay." I end the final call to the last investor on my list and finally relax on the wooden chair in the cabin. It's already morning and I didn't sleep a wink. I was worried Amaya would wake up needing help and she wouldn't wake me seeing how she has been avoiding anything to do with me for the past 24 hours. She didn't wake up all through the night though and this god-damned chair just gave me a back ache for nothing.
"Coffee." I drag my hurting body to the counter and make myself coffee . The time on the wall says few minutes past seven when I'm done making the coffee. I take the cup with me as I stroll into the only room in the cabin where Amaya is still sleeping, looking all calm like the woman I remember marrying. Not the angry and hurt woman I've made. My hand ache to caress the bare skin peeking out of her blanket. I take a sip of my coffee instead and pull down the blanket to cover her legs.
"Yup, resist the temptation. You don't deserve to even look at her anymore." I reprimand myself. I walk back out through the sitting room, outside the house to clear my head. The clear and cool air of the mountains calm me loads.
Yes, I do not deserve the woman sleeping inside this cabin but I'll damn well do everything in my power to get her to be that happy and trusting woman who walked down the aisle to me just months ago

. She deserve happiness more than anyone I know right now and now. You make her happy then what next? Are you going to stay married to her? Can you? You hate this country. My subconscious disturbs me and I shrug. I just want her to be happy. Anything else that comes after that, I don't know but I sure as hell want to give her the power of choice this time. She should be able to choose what she wants now. As far as that doesn't involve getting rid of me. I want to be by her side.

Amaya:

"More sleep." I groan and turn in bed as my phone continues to ring on and on without stopping. What time is it anyways? I grab the phone off my bag just beside the bed and it's already past nine am. Wow. I slept for more than 13 hours. I don't remember when last I had this luxury. I stretch in bed and my phone starts ringing again. It's an unknown number.
"Hello?" I put my legs down and try to stand up but a sharp pain shoot up my hurt leg. I groan tightly.
"Tell me you are off your legs." Rory's voice is enough to wake me completely and also fluster me. I look down at the leg in question.
"Why are you calling?" I ask instead of answering.
"Oh I'm at the market. You said you needed a few things. I got the necessities. Just wanted to ask if you need anything specifically." He says.
"You don't have to, Rory."
"I'm already here Maya. What was it, you wanted to ask Watson to get for you?" I hesitate for a minute.
"Hello? Is it menstrual pads or something?" The words menstrual pads coming from such a manly guy is so awkward I start to laugh.
"Wow." Rory's voice from the other end of the line make me stop my giggling.
"What?" I ask
"It's been so long. Too long actually."
"Too long since what?"
"Since I heard that laugh." I momentarily lose my ability to speak as I'm stunned silent by his unexpected words.
"You really should laugh more often Amaya." I have to clear my voice to get it to work.
"I was going to ask Watson for some supplies." I say, changing the subject.
"Supplies?"
"Yeah. Some oil paint. colors, brushes, canvas, palette, easel, paint thinner."
"Wait, you paint?" He sounds surprise.
"What else would I need those things for otherwise?" I can't help but snap.
"Of course, yeah. I just didn't know that about you."
"What really do you know about me, Rory?" I ask. He's silent for a while.
"I know a thing or two." No you don't.
"Really now?" I ask
"So let me ask you, what's my birthday?" Even my father, as apathic as he is, knows this. The other end of the line goes quiet.
"I thought as much." I know he couldn't possibly know it but it still hurts. He couldn't care less.
"I'm sorry Amaya." Again with the apology.
"You know we got married without really following the process of courting and getting to know each other." He says and I find myself laughing mirthlessly.
"April 1st 1991." I state.
"You know my birthday." He says without question.
"You see when you care about someone, you find yourself curious about them. Even though you weren't forth coming to me, I still made it my business to know things about you. Don't blame your lack of knowledge on getting married so soon Rory."
"I'm such an idiot."
"I can't argue with that." I say and end the call.

Rory:

"I'm a fuck up." I say as way of greeting as Michelle connects the call.
"Rory. I thought you lost your phone and your morals." She says dryly.
"I'm sorry I didn't call for months. I've been going through somethings lately."
"You should be apologizing more to your wife!" Michelle scolds.
"I know. That's what I'm calling about. I'm such a big fuck up."
"What's going on Rory? I thought you both were in love but you just upped and left your wife for months?"
"It's a long story. I thought she was not trustworthy. I thought she was just like her father."
"What are you talking about? Amaya is an angel. A little too naive but she's so sweet. She's the kind of person you trust without fear."
"I thought it was all a game. Pretence."
"Why would you think that?" I clamp my mouth shut. I can't tell her.
"Is there something you want to tell me?" She asks again and I sigh. I can't keep secrets anymore. She might know just what to do to help me.
"I got married to Amaya to get William her father's shares so he could get his father's company back." The line goes completely silent.
"I knew something was fishy when your wife's father was Mr Gabriel." She doesn't sound surprise.
"You knew before now didn't you?" I ask.
"William told me a few months ago. When you just disappeared on your wife and I. I can't believe you kept this from me for this long. I was waiting for your call."
"I'm sorry. I didn't want you to think you're the reason for my suffering."
"Suffering? What are you talking about? I would be so mad if the woman you ended up marrying wasn't an angel like Amaya. She's a blessing, you idiot!"
"I know." I say without thought.
"Where are you now? You should go back home and make your wife happy. She's waiting for you."
"I'm afraid it's too late for that."
"What do you mean?"
"Amaya is here with me and she found out I married her for her father's shares.

. She's torn. She can't even look at me in the face anymore. Hell, I can't even look at me anymore. I even caused her to break her leg yesterday and almost lost our baby. She hates me." I scrub my day old stubble angrily.
"Wait, slow down. She's pregnant? And she broke her leg?"
"Long story."
"You know what? William is out of town for the week. Send me your location right now. I'll come to you." She says. I don't argue. I say my goodbyes and end the call before sending her a message on my location. I need all the help I can get
