Rory:

"Someone's frowning. Again." I startle backwards at Michelle's sudden appearance from the side of the house. I didn't even hear her come in.
"Calm down, cowboy. It's just me." She hand me a glass of wine and direct me to a chair in the cabin. I take a sip of the drink and let myself relax into the chair.
"You were gone for a while." Michelle breaks the silence and I find a small smile playing on my lips.
"Yes I was." I say without explanation.
"So?"
"So what?" I feign ignorance . The woman has the guts to punch my shoulder.
"Ouch!"
"You're hoarding information from your marriage coach. Stupid man." She raise her nose snottily. I can't help but tweak her nose playfully.
"Stop it!" She giggles like old times and I take my time to savor the sound of her laughter. She finally gets her laugh in control. She pat her bulging stomach lightly. I take her hand and when she notice my serious look, she frowns.
"What?"
"You are happy right?" I ask. She falter in her smile but picks it back up again.
"You don't have to worry about that anymore." She put her free hand on mine and pat it.
"I did something right then? I didn't just hurt Amaya for nothing right?"
"You can make it all better. I know your marriage can be salvaged." I shake my head.
"She threw the Rolex watch and my flowers into the trash." Michelle's smile freezes on her face and she cringes.
"Wow

. Amaya doesn't seem like someone who would do that." She muses.
"She has a right to. She's hurt. Plus pregnant. You pregnant women act impulsively." I add the last part to lighten things up.
"That's so not true." Michelle slaps my shoulder way to hard and I try not to fall off my chair. She's still strong.
"Of course. I'm saying nonsense." I patronize her and she shake her head at me, telling me she knows I don't mean one bit of what I just said. She doesn't call me out anyways.
"So, are you going to stop now?" She asks.
"Never. I'm only just beginning. She's my woman. She's my family." I say with so much conviction. Michelle nods her approval.
"She is. We are a formidable duo, Rory. I bet you Amaya won't be able to stand against your charm and my genius brain."
"You think so?" I want to be hopeful.
"I know so." She clink her glass against mine and finish up her drink. I do the same. I can feel my confidence and hope on things getting better building up. Good. I like this feeling.
"So what flowers are you sending tomorrow?" Michelle interrupts my thoughts. I think on this for a few seconds.
"Blue Violet flowers. It says trust, affection, intuition and love." I did my research.
"Awwwn." Michelle swoon and I find myself blushing a little.
"Google is my friend." I brush off her sappiness.
"Who would have thought Rory could be romantic? No one should say no to such efforts." Michelle says and I really hope she's right. I plan to send a Louboutin stiletto with the flowers. Michelle and I settle into a comfortable silence as Michelle pours us more wine and we enjoy it in silent companionship.
The door opening quietly shatters the peaceful silence. My face brightens at the thought of Amaya coming back but it sure freezes on my face as I come face to face with Watson. I frown.
"Where's Amaya?" He says without preambles. My hands tighten around the glass. Michelle must notice the shill in the air. She watches me carefully.
"What are you doing here Watson? I told you to remain in the city and watch the firm." I say cooly.
"I just have to see Amaya real quick. Is she in there?" He starts to let himself further into my house and I snap up to my feet to block his path with my hand. He has the temerity to push my hand away. What's his problem? He glares at me with hard eyes. I glare right back.
"Go back while you still have your job, Watson." I grind out. He scoffs and tries to go further into the cabin. Amaya isn't there, yes but I don't like how he's acting. I've been trying so hard to not say anything for too long.
"I don't even care about the job anymore. You can shove it." He points his finger in my face as he spits. I notice his shaky hand then the scratches on his arm. I drop my hand from blocking his path. Watson runs pass me into the bedroom.
"What's going on?" Michelle mouths to me. I shake my head and subtly signal for her to leave. She hesitate a bit but nods.
"Be safe." She quickly leave me alone and Watson doesn't waste time in coming back out of the room. He looks frantic. I think it's time I do this.
"What are you doing, Watson?" I ask him.
"I need to be with her right now." He seethes. I shake my head.
"And by her, you mean my wife."
"She's not yours!" Spittle drip down his chin and I'm reminded of an unpleasant memory.
"Just like Jessica wasn't mine all those years ago?" He's ranting endlessly but at the mention of Jessica, he freezes up. Yes, Watson. I know who you are. I've known ever since I hired you.
"Wh--wh--what ar-- what are you talking about?" He's going to pretend not to know Jessica?
"We lived as brothers for years, Watson. You think I wouldn't recognize you? You think me a fool?"
"Rory I--" I raise my hand up to shut him.
"We are family. I don't want a repeat of last time." I see him close his eyes when he opens them again, they are a little more steady.
"Amaya is my wife. I know Jessica wasn't mine back then but she was my sister. Remember how obsessing over her ended? You hurt her. You can't hurt Amaya."
"I didn't hurt her, damn you!" He grabs the bottle of wine Michelle and I were binging on earlier and throws it to the ground. It shatters into a million pieces. I'm thankful Michelle isn't here.
I let Watson rant and rave until his breathing comes out in short rasping breaths.
"I didn't mean to. I love her." He sobs and I find myself hugging his shoulder. I ignore the use of the present tense in his claim of love for Jessica. She's dead but I guess his love is still very much alive. That's why he's using love instead of loved. Right? A creepy feeling creep up my spine.
"You should have told me you knew who I was." Watson mutters after a while. I pull away and watch him. His shaking is subsiding a little.
"I know you. You'd have run away again. Like you did after that incident with Jessica. Jessica's gone. You are the only family I have.

. I wanted to keep you close and not run you off." A little tears sting my eyes at Jessica's name. I still feel I killed her no matter what my logical side tells me.
"Jessica is dead." Watson echos and there's this strange look he gives me like he's guilty of something but it's gone in a flash.
"When you brought Amaya over to the cabin days ago, was that to get revenge? I know I wasn't really a great brother back then." Watson smiles sadly at me and shake his head.
"I have to go." He says. I hold back him arm and he hiss in pain. I notice I pressing on the scratches on his arm. He withdraws his arm when he notice my attention on the scratches.
"I have to go." He says again.
"How did you get those scratches?" He avoids my eyes and instead, turns away from me.
"Be careful of the one person you don't suspect." He says over his shoulders then continue on his way out. I try to grab him again. He slips out of my hold easily and turns into a run.
"Watson?!" I call after him but Michelle comes in at this moment and he nearly collides into her. She barely manages to move out of Watson's way and he doesn't even stop.
"Watson!" I call again.
"Amaya got a text. I saw her phone outside." Michelle calls from behind me and I bring myself to a halt. Watson takes this opportunity and disappears. Will I see him again?
