Look at the empty bottle over there. She replied and showed me the empty Eva water bottle in the nearby bush.
Let’s get going sir. We still have a long way to go. Adewale cut in. we scrambled and resumed climbing till we got to the 4th spot at the 475th step, then to the 5th at the 580th step. At this point, I felt exhausted . My legs were knocking against each other as though I just completed a fight match with Klitchko in the ring. Eventually, we got to the 660 steps and was taking a panoramic view of the entire village; 495m below the hills summit.
Here we are! We’ve gotten to the top of the hill. Adewale said. We walked over to where he stood and we see the beauty of the whole Idanre kingdom. Let’s move further. Adewale shouted
This is the ancient building. It is the old primary school at Oke Idanre known as “Igbo ore” local authority school, Oke Idanre as established in 1896 by the Christian missionary society members, CMS.
Felicia and I walked into the building to see things for ourselves but we were paranoid while taking some pictures because of the fear of snakes which might be hiding under the benches or inside the roof of the building. Those CMS members were led by Gilbert Thomas Katta.
Where is he from? Felicia asked
From the United States of America. Adewale replied quickly while walking away

. After some few minutes of walking, we got to a place called “Ese Ogbeji” (which can be interpreted as a place meant for one passerby at a time)
This is a place called Ese Ogbeji. Adewale enlightened us as we both walked through the bush path. It’s a secured entrance for people coming into the village. This is also the court of law which was constructed in 1906 (he showed us the building on the brink of entry into village)
“Welcome to the olden day. Village of Idanre. Adewale shouted, beaming with smiles like someone who won a jackpot.
See, see, please I am tired. My legs are shaking. I screamed
But boss, where can we get water here? Can’t you see? Felicia asked frustratingly
Felicia, you better save up your energy? Probably you will be the one to lift me down back to the car down the hills.
Am I mad? Felicia asked and laughed
Mr. Man, please, is there no river here? Where I can at least get water to quench my thirst? I asked looking up to Adewale
Well, there is a water around here called “Omi Apa ara” the thunder stream
Please show us the way.

. I need some…
Few minutes’ walk, we got to a part on the rock where water was coming out from the rock. The water looked unclean though but I had no choice.
Furthermore, this water is reserved for warriors back in those days. Warriors were meant to take from it before going for war. I would advise you wait till we get down. That water isn’t safe nor good to drink. In my obstinence, I bent down to dip my right hands in it while I used the back of my hands to wipe away the dirt on its surface. As I used my hands to take some waters in my mouth. I did that for 7 times. Not until I got filled that I beckoned Felicia over. She bent down too and scooped some water into her empty bottle before we proceeded.
Water, they say is very powerful. Had we listened to the tourist guide, we would have avoided the consequences that entrap us.
