Synder-Ella - Episode 6
“Hey son?”
“Father.” Henry said before sitting down at the table with his father.
Four guards were standing behind his seat while two maids waited at the table.
He looked at them and frowned, then looked back at his father, who observed him.
“Is everything okay?” The king asked.
“Sure father I’m just wondering what we need these guards for, I mean, even the maids, father, don’t they have anything better to do ?”
The king gritted is teeth and dropped the fork into the tray.
“You are a prince, and these are things that royalties require.”
“But the maids already served us food, so why are they waiting on us again Can’t they go and have some fun and probably once we are done, we can actually send for them to pack the plates?”
The maids exchanged glances but remained quiet.
King John stared at his son as if he had gone mad, but he waved his hands and the maids with the guards dispersed.
Henry smiled, “thanks father.”
“Oh, no, don’t thank me yet, believe me, if not that the doctor actually confirmed that you are my son, and because I love my wife, I would have called you a bastard.”
Henry gasped, “father! I just don’t want so much attention, is that a big deal?”
“Yes, it is a big deal, for oneday when you become a king, war can come in from any angle, be it your bed, your dining or anywhere, you need to be guarded at all times. I don’t just understand you, even when you were a child, you will take your food into the wardrobe and eat it, what is the problem with you? What are you afraid of?”
Henry was quiet, “maybe I am not a royal born father

“Then you are not fit to be a king!” The father stated, getting angry.
Henry shrugged, eating from the yam and eggs in front of him, “maybe I don’t want to be king father.”
King John stared at his son in horror, he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“Seems that child of a carpenter has filled your head with nonsense!”
“No father, he is the only one that understands me and he is my friend!”
“Friend? How can you have a pauper as a friend son?”
Henry sighed and stood up, “father, you wanted us to have a dinner together and we just did, most times, it doesn’t usually end well but I love you always for reaching out to me, now if you will excuse me, I need to go make sure that my mother isn’t locking him up in the cell.” With this, he stood up and began to walk away while his father watched.

Some minutes later, Henry ran into Peter, who was just coming out of the palace...he looked like he had seen a ghost.
“What did my mum say to you?” Henry asked as soon as they got close.
Peter swallowed, “well, quite enough for me to never step into this place again.”
“You know that is not possible, I need you and I’m afraid with the way my father spoke, I wouldn’t be surprised if the guards were asked to lock me in tonight till the day of the banquet which I’m afraid is just in two days time.”
Peter sighed, “Henry, I’m afraid, there is nothing for me to do for you. however, I have made an arrangement with some people to help with the kidnap stuff. So, they will wait at Peesam Square Junction where they hide to catch any princess they see in sight and you must give the signal by talking with that princess, anyone you fancy will be the one you will walk up to, and the deal will be done.”
Henry nodded, “okay. Thanks so much for doing this.”
“After this Henry, no more favour. The queen was really convincing...” he said and began to walk away while Henry watched him, wondering what his mother had told him.
