Salvation (An Arranged Marriage ll) - Episode 35

 

Aroofa.

I sip on he water again, placing the glass cup atop the table and trying to make sure my trembling hands don't topple it.

I'm fifteen minutes early for I and yoel's coffee date.

Yes, coffee, I'm a wimp, after postponing said date for a week straight I finally settle on coffee.

Coffee screams buddy right? It says no strings attached arrangement right?

It's has just the right amount of casual and nonchalance, right?.

Bloody hell I'm over thinking this.

I sip on the water again.

"if I had known you would have been this early I would have arrived sooner" Yoel's voice says from behind me and the glass in holding slips from my hold.

He catches it before it hits the ground and I blink.

"Wow, vampire reflexes" I say and he smirks, placing the glass atop the table and wiping  the little that spilled on his hands on a napkin.

" Alas, You've found out my secret, my real name is actually Stefan Salvatore and I've been running from my evil brother" He says and I snort a laugh, my body relaxing.

"Does this mean you have to kill me? I'm not ready to die" I say and he shakes his head.

"Kill you? You are too beautiful to be killed, I would rather get to know you and then make you fall madly in love with me" He says with a wink and I smile.

"You look beautiful today" He says and I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Well, thank you, you don't look bad yourself" I say and he smiles.

"You haven't ordered have you, tell me what you want and I will get it for you" He says and I bite my lip.

"Uh... A pumpkin spice latte"

"One pumpkin spice latte coming right up, any other thing? Pastry? Feel free to tell me, I have a sweet tooth"

. I will let you choose" I say and he nods before stepping away from our table

I try not to follow him with my gaze, if won't do for anyone to recognize either of us.

It's the main reason I choose this hole-in-the-wall coffee place.

He comes back with my order and a basket of chocolate donuts. Yum.

"I hope you like the donuts" He says and I nod.

"Oh, I do, I love chocolate" I say and I suddenly wonder why I sound like a shy girl, I'm normally not this shy, Yoel Trey has got me tongue tied

"What did you order?"

" A Caramel macchiato with extra syrup" He says before adding with a wink "... I told you I had a sweet tooth" He says before selecting a donut with pink sprinkles and biting into it.

I select one with green topping and bite into it too, but I almost choke at his next question. 

"So, what took you so long in having dinner with me.. Or should I say coffee?" 

I swallow, patting my chest as I look at him. 

"Wow, you don't hold back" 

"Where has holding back gotten anyone? You only live once you know" He says and I frown, dropping my donut, wiping my lip and turning to him. 

"That's weird coming from you, i recall you shuting me down the very first time I tried not to hold back with you" I have no idea where that came from and I regret it immediately. 

"You don't have to look as if you've made a grave mistake, it's nice that you are saying what you think" He says and I nod.. 

He takes a sip of his drink before answering me. 

"I'm older than you by a lot Aroofa" He says and it's the same old tune. 

"You are five years older than me, it means that you were probably still in diapers when I was born, that doesn't count" He blinks at my words as if surprised that I countered his reason with only a few words. 

"Well... It counts to me.." He says, obviously floundering for excuses, really? 

"Anything else?" 

"You are at the peak of your career, a scandal, any scandal at all is bad to your image at this point in time" 

"Yoel, you are on a coffee date with me in a public place, it's obvious you don't think that way, seeing as you are seated across from me, you aren't a bad person and it will be hard for the media to paint anything between us In a bad light" I say, sipping my drink and suddenly feeling on a roll. 

"You need to concentrate, you won't do that if you are in a relationship with me" At this point I feel insulted that he's grasping for excuses, I lean back. 

"Are you serious about all this points or do you just not find me attractive?" I ask and he leans forward immediately, as if he has to prove a point to me. 

"You are the most attractive woman I've met in a long time Aroofa" He says and pleasure sweeps through me. 

"Then why...." 

"I'm not ready for.. It isn't you Aroofa, it's me".

"You are not ready for a relationship? A romantic entanglement? A woman? Are you gay?" 

He laughs and I try to hide a smile, his laugh makes me want to laugh too. 

"I'm definitely not gay Aroofa" He says with a laugh before becoming serious "... I, I'm scared to invest in a relationship right now" He says and I'm surprised at how truthful he is. 

"Do you want to tell me why?" 

"It's nothing much, a divorce a year ago is the main reason I'm very scared" He says and my eyes widen. 

"You were married?" 

"For a whole month"

"It isn't in the media, it doesn't come up in any search" I should probably not be admiting to him that I've done a google search on him right? Priorities Aroofa. 

"I spent a good deal of my money wiping it out of existence but if you dig deep enough I'm sure you will unearth something" 

"Did she hurt you?" 

"No, she only cheated on me and cursed my dead sister" 

"She hurt you" I state "That's why you are scared" 

He smiles sardonically. 

"I'm sorry that happened to you". He nods. 

"You must understand that I like you a lot Aroofa and I would love to be in a relationship with you but all I ask for is time, you don't have to...." 

"I can wait" I say eagerly "... How long? A day? Two?" I ask cheekily and he smiles. 

"What do you know, you might not have to wait at all" He says and I smile. 

"Let's be good friends Yoel" 

"That's not the only thing I want from you" He says. 

"Me neither"
