Agent Ghandi POV

It was really a smooth journey right from the US down to Nigeria. I was still looking for a taxi to take me to a hotel in Ikeja when Agent Shawn’s call came through telling me Agent Ola’s leaving his position. What the f**k! Why at this time when I needed a sound sleep after some hours on air? I got a taxi, I sat at the back sit and brought out my tab and truly the signal from Agent Ola’s tracking device was moving. I set up some other applications and connections on the tab to get to the exact location where he was . After 15mins of searching, the device stopped and indicated the current signal is coming from Osun state! Oh my God! And the journey from Lagos to Osun state will still take like 4hours minimum.

The cab took me to Hilton’s hotel. I still asked him to wait while I dropped my bags before proceeding to Osun. Within 10mins, I was out sitting at the back of the cab.

Agent Ghandi: How can I get to Osun right now?

Cab driver: Ah, by this time of the day? Oga, you for wait till tomorrow morning o.

Agent Ghandi: this is a matter of emergency. I can’t wait till tomorrow. The main reason why I was sent here was because of something I had to pick up in Osun.

(Still in the cab)

Cab driver: All motor parks would have closed for the day oga.

Agent Ghandi: What can you do for me? Can you drive me down there?

Cab driver: Oga, I can’t do that o. I have my family to meet up with tonight and moreover, I don’t do night work o jare.

Agent Ghandi: How about giving you S2, 000 dollars

Cab driver: 2,000 what? The driver exclaimed!

Agent Ghandi: Yes, 2,000 dollars! Will you take me there now?

Cab driver: Oga, let me get enough fuel.

Agent Ghandi: (Looking at the time) how many hours will it take before getting to Osun?

Cab driver: It depends on the exact location but it shouldn’t be more than 3hours.

Agent Ghandi: That might be too late for me.

Cab driver: Errm

. Oga mi, If you don’t mind, there is another way we can use to get there in the next 50 minutes to one hour.

Agent Ghandi: Don’t tell me I am still going to the airport again

Cab driver: Actually, it is a traditional way of getting to your destination faster that might cost you an additional money sir.

Agent Ghandi: Alright fine…I’m going to make it 2,500 dollars. Are you cool with that?

Cab driver: Ok then, wait for me.

I watched the cab man with a polythene bag in his hand while I was still watching him, I still kept my gaze on the tab with me which still shows the signal is still on the move.

Oh God! Help me. This is my first assignment! I prayed silently still feeling tensed.

Some few minutes later, the driver got in and started driving. In as much as I was interested to know what the driver had done but I still can’t keep my eyes off the tab to keep monitoring him. Within 30minutes, I could see we were at Guru Maharaji, close to Ibadan. How did he manage to pull that stunt? Were we flying?

Then the signal stopped. What?

Agent Ghandi: Driver, please be fast! I couldn’t sit comfortably anymore. Agent Ola had stopped moving.

Cab driver: Oga, you better be thankful. Don’t you know we could still be in Lagos by now but thanks to my little trick, we are now in Ibadan.

. Just some few minutes away from Osun.

We were in Ife within a twinkle of an eye. But at this point, the signal I was getting was reducing by minutes. Driver be fast! I shouted.

Cab driver: Oga, where exactly are we going gan? He asked getting impatient

I showed him in the tab so he could navigate his way through the map it was displaying. Some minutes later, the signal went off. Immediately, I quickly got hold of the location the signal disappeared.

10 minutes later, we drove down to where the signal was lost and all I could see was waters. I came down from the cab to see things clearly for myself. I tried checking the tab again to ascertain the location I got the last signal from then Agent Shawn’s call came in.

Agent Shawn: What the hell just happened?

Agent Ghandi: I can’t explain. I am at the location right now and all I can see is water.

Agent Shawn: Are you really serious?

Agent Ghandi: I am freaking serious Shawn

Agent Shawn: How could you have lost him when you’re already in Nigeria?

Agent Ghandi: Hey man, we weren’t in the same location! I had to get myself here as fast as I could man.

Agent Shawn: The only way internal signal could be lost is only when the person is dead. The signal still has power to work only one hour after the person in question is killed.

Agent Ghandi: So what are you insinuating?

Agent Shawn: Agent Ola is gone. He is dead. You failed on your first big assignment!
