Mirage - Episode 43

Noah:

"A van just pulled up outside. Everybody stay alert." Maro rushes inside the uncompleted building and inform us. Adrenaline fizz like champagne in my blood.
"Minerva" I whisper.
"Noah, I know you want to rush out there and get her but you have to think with your head and not your heart. Maro will go out there and collect Minerva from them. They know him as one of chief's men so it would be easier and bloodless." She says and I nod but grumble under my breathe.
"Fine. Be careful with her Maro."
"I am just going outside to get her. Just five minutes and she will be in your arms" he assures me and I nod. They came which means they think their boss sent the message. The rest of the plan should go smoothly right?
The question is answered for me when seconds after Maro leaves the room we hear two gunshots. Sylvia and I fly off the concrete blocks we were sitting on and move stealthily to the front room in the building. I peek out through the window and see no other person but Ivy. She's wearing a police uniform and I pity the rightful owner. Her hair is standing in all directions and she has Minerva in her grip, with a gun placed to her temple. I see Minerva's father beside them

. His hands are tied together and the end of the ropes are in Ivy's hand.
Ivy paints the perfect picture of a deranged murderer with blood smearing her face while holding a man and his daughter captive.
"Noah!" She yell and I loathe her with a passion. I look to the other side of me where Sylvia is standing, shaking her head for me not to move.
"Come on! Are you going to leave your dear wife and father in law out here with me?" I hear her chuckle and I gnash my teeth severely.
"I have to" I whisper to sylvia but she hold my shoulder to stop me from moving.
"Let go of me Sylvia. This was how I left her on that yacht and I still can't forgive myself!"
"Noah, if you go out there she would kill you too. I can't get a clear shot of her with the way she's holding minerva like a shield. We have to think of a plan."
"There's no time for that! Can't you see? Minerva can't even stand upright. Do you know what she has been through in their hands?" The emotion in my voice is clogging my lungs.
Sylvia sees the determination in my voice and nod her consent.
"Go" she says and I nod then walk out of the building with my hands up in surrender. My gun hanging on my index finger. I throw my gun at Ivy's feet as I come out fully.
"Oh, baby. There you are. Where's the other woman?" Ivy bark at me and Sylvia comes out too.
"Minerva. Are you okay?" I ask but get no answer. She looks limp as Ivy hold her against her body and her eyes are dull.
"What did you do to her?!" I spit at Ivy.
"Nothing. This was how I saw her. I think they drugged her to keep her unconscious." Ivy explains.
"What do you want ivy?" Just let her go okay?" Sylvia says from behind me
"But what about me Noah, what about me? I love you more."
"Ivy, do you really want me knowing I love someone else?"
"I will take you however way you come. My love is enough to keep us together."
"Alright. Fine. You can have me. Just let her go then the both of us can leave the country and start a life else where"
"You will?" She asks stunned.
"Yes baby. We can continue our wedding plans. Just let them go. I will move closer to you with every steps they take towards Sylvia" I say and point to Sylvia who is looking at Ivy with dubious eyes. She nods at this and push Minerva away from her and motion to chief to move towards Sylvia. Chief badmus doesn't waste time as he starts walking fast towards Sylvia while Minerva limps to where I am slowly. She looks like the wind could just blow her away and my heart goes to her. Ivy is busy looking at me with doubt in her eyes as I get closer and they move farther away from her.
"Stop!"she yells and I pause just few feet away from her.
"You are lying. I see it in your eyes. You are leading me on. I am going to kill everybody!" Ivy yells then point her gun at Minerva and her dad. I turn back in horror to see chief badmus push his only daughter out of the way just to get away.
"No!!!" Sylvia and I yell and turn to Ivy whose face is screwed up in pure disgust.
"She's your daughter, you monster!" Ivy yells before pulling the trigger. Chief badmus falls to the ground with a thud while Minerva is just sitting on the dusty ground, motionless as she stares down at her father's lifeless body beside her.
"You just saw me kill someone. He deserved that, right Noah? I am not evil. I am just fighting for our love" Ivy ramble on while looking between me and the body she just dropped. For the first time I see that she needs help. She's not sane. Maybe I pushed her to this by not seeing her feelings for me and taking care of it.
"Listen to me Ivy. You are not evil. You just need to stop now. Many people have died because of this. Do this for me babe. You need help and I swear I will get you help" I say, meaning every word.
"Remember how we were back then before all these? We took care of each other. Stop this and let me take care of you Ivy" I continue. I seem to be getting to her because I see the quivering of her hand and the way she keeps sniffing as if to keep the tears at bay.
"Ivy" I whisper her name and move closer to her.
" Noah move!" I hear Sylvia yell and I turn to see her pointing a gun at ivy.
"No!!!" I push Ivy out of the way as the shot is fired.
We roll on the dusty floor and I end up on top of her, shielding her with my body.
"Noah, what are you doing? She's a monster" Sylvia moves closer to us with her gun still pointed at Ivy while I cover her with my body.
"Sylvia please don't shoot" I implore.
"She doesn't deserve your pity Noah, look at her" I look down at Ivy who is in tears. She wipe her tears off angrily and push me off her. Ivy lift her gun up but not at anyone. She puts the gun in her own mad and my eyes go wide in shock.
"Don't do it Ivy. Please" I sob out. There's a defeaning sound of a gunshot and blood splatter all over me.
"Ivy!!!!" I scream with all my might. I move to her annihilated body and shake her. She can't possibly be alive with her brain splattered out like this but I am in shock. I keep shaking her.
"Ivy" I cry out. I see Sylvia crouch down beside me. She squeeze my shoulder comfortingly. I turn to her and she wrap her hands around me in an embrace. I really need this right now. I sob on her shoulder while she pat my back.
"She was already too far gone, Noah. You tried to save her even after everything.

. You are the better man" she whispers into my ears. I finally pull away from her.
"Your princess awaits" Sylvia points to Minerva who is still sitting beside her father staring into space. All the women around me are hurt and it is all my fault. I stand up to my feet and drag myself to meet Minerva.
"Baby. You are safe now." I hug her fiercely but she doesn't reciprocate. She's still under the influence of whatever they gave her.
"I just called an ambulance" Sylvia announces and I nod. I don't know what I would have done without this wonderful woman and Victor. Speaking of which where is that man?
"Victor should be on his way back from the police station where he went to give his report on how Ivy almost killed him. I am glad he wasn't here to witness this blood fest" Sylvia answers and I realize I asked out loud.
"You were so worried about Minerva you didn't notice when I let him leave. This wasn't supposed to go like this" she says and I nod. I hear the wailing of an ambulance siren in the distance and I know all will be well soon.
