Love Eternal - Episode 3

 

My eyes blink open and white lights almost blind me, I blink them close quickly. 

My body aches and my jaw won't move, where am I? 

I try again to open my eyes and this time the lights aren't as burning as it was a moment ago. 

I try to move my body but it doesn't respond

I open my mouth to call out but my jaw remains unmoving. 

A beep begins to go off somewhere and I wish someone would turn it off. 

At the end of that thought the door opens and in steps a white clothed man who obviously is a doctor, behind him are two nurses. 

He throws a blinding smile which is just as bright as the fluorescent lights were a moment ago. 

I open my mouth to speak, this is all confusing, I can't seem to juggle my brain and make it produce a memory of how I ended up here. 

"Ha, Miss Light, its good to see you awake" The young looking doctor says. 

I blink at him and he sends another smile my way. 

"Your friend would be glad to hear that you  are awake, she has been so overwhelmed with worry for you" 

Ruby? Why am I here? 

I try to move my jaw but it hurts and only a croak comes out of my mouth. 

I try again and this time I'm able to make a few words. 

"Where am I?" 

"An hospital" He answers cheerfully as the nurses behind him work to check my vitals. 

"Ho.. How.." My voice dies out at the end but I take a deep breath and continue 

"How did I get here?" 

His face darkens and the cheerful smile he has been holding looses some of its light. 

He turns back to the nurses, giving them instructions, the IV in my arm is removed and my bed gets propped up. 

He turns back to my waiting stare.. 

"How did I get here?" I ask, my voice stronger this time.

"Miss Light, .

. You've been through a lot, it would be best if you rest and recuperate, I will get someone to call your friend, Miss Ruby ..." 

He begins to turn away but I hold his hand, 

I hold his stare and his eyes hold mine. 

"Tell me doctor.. How did I get here?" 

Maybe it is the desperation in my eyes because he smiles and places his hands on the one holding his. 

"You've been through a lot Miss Light, you were brought in a very critical state, we didn't think you would make it" He says quietly and memories bombard my head. 

I took too much sleeping pills, damn, why did I have to do that? Why? 

I slowly let go of his hand and his smile drops a little before going up ten notches. 

"It's best if you rest Miss Light , you've been through a lot and although you've made a full recovery rest is always the key" He says and I nod. 

The door swings open in a shadow of jeans and a long sleeved shirt, Ruby is standing there, clenching her cellphone and looking like she's about to break down in a minute. 

"Ruby.." I call, suddenly feeling much better at seeing a familiar face. 

"Luna .." That's all she gets out before bursting into tears and throwing herself into my arms. 

"I thought I would loose you" She sobs"... You've been asleep for so long and... And.."She sniffles and the good doctor takes that as a cue to leave. 

" I'm good, Ruby, take a look for yourself "I say and she lifts her sobbing eyes to give me a once over before bursting into tears again.. 

I give her time to gather herself as I stroke her hair, knowing that I almost made a mistake, why did I do that? Why did I take too much pill. 

I have bite my lip hard, knowing that maybe subconsciously I had wanted it all to end, but why? Who would take care of my kids? Who? They need me. 

Ruby finally lifts her head to take in my face. 

"I was so scared, I called you and you didn't pick up, walking into your room to see you almost not breathing ..." she flounders, pain coating her words. 

I begin to shake my head, trying to make her understand that I didn't want to, I just.. 

"I just needed the nightmares to go away, they.. They are exhausting" I explain and she looks into my eyes before bursting into tears again. 

Axel chooses that moment to enter the room and he looks as worried as Ruby is. 

"Lulu.." 

"I'm fine.. I'm fine.." 

"You are never staying alone again, you made me so worried" He says and I know my friends must have been so scared. 

"I'm fine, it was a mistake" I say. 

"A mistake that almost cost you your life!, You've been asleep for a whole day! " Ruby shouts, suddenly very angry, Ruby might be 5 ft 4 and tiny but she's a force to be reckoned with. 

"Do you know how hard it is to see you in another hospital room? I had to look at you in an hospital room for a year Luna, do you know how hard that was?" 

My eyes slides to Axel in silent request for  help and he shakes his head, not willing to stop her. 

" I'm sorry Rubic Cube "I whisper and she takes a deep breath. 

" You can't die Luna, you just can't... "She says and I nod. 

" You have to stay alive, we have to watch Arthur die first, we have to get you Harmonie and Night, you can't harm yourself "

" I will never "I say, a silent promise. 

" Good, that means we have to get you a job first something to keep you occupied"She says and I nod. 

"Good, we have to get you back on your feet Lulu, please be strong" She says and smile. 

"I promise" 

How hard can it be to get back on my feet?
