  I’ve never seen Nancy so rough. She shoved the nurse aside and they started to talk. Her back was turned to us. 

  Suddenly, Nancy lost her grip on the nurse and she scurried away.
Brent moved faster than I to meet Nancy and pulled her in our direction so we could see her. 
  She was shaking mildly and tears were dropping from her face.

  I paused in my tracks.

  Is Maddy…? No, that can’t be, right?

  I hurried over to her and helped Brent pull her to a seat.

“Nancy, what did the nurse tell you?” I asked

“Why are you so shaken?” Tess asked

  I looked over my shoulder at Tess. Our eyes met and she batted her lashes at me encouragingly wih a little smile.

  Brent wiped Nancy’s face with his handkerchief and she calmed down a bit.

“I’m so sorry to have frightened you guys” Nancy said, suddenly looking worn-out.

“Whatever the nurse said, everything is well under control . Someone already gave His life to ensure that, okay?” Tess said, directed o no one in particular

“Okay, yeah” we all said at different times
 
  Nancy smiled and definitely looked better.

“I just felt so bad and scared for Maddy” she said 

“They were already over the worst before haemorrhage started”

“Oh!” Victoria, who’s been silent all this while, gasped.

  I turned to look at her

“I guess she understands” Tess said “but what in the world is that?”

“Her blood vessel ruptured” Nancy replied “and it is extremely dangerous”

In a room painted in white with a bed and several machines connected to someone on it, there are several people covered in sun blue coat with masks to7 their faces and caps to their heads. 

 Around are trays with different tools in them.

 There is panic written on the faces of some of them.

. They are scattered across the two sides of the bed. 

“Pay attention!” a male voice shouted from under the mask.

“Yes, Dr. Henry” the rest replied.

“I can’t see” a doctor said, directly facing Dr. Henry on the other side of the bed.

  A nurse rushed in with a small bag and began to pull out blood packs while another took them, replacing the used one.

“Increase the flow” Dr. Henry said

“Yes Doctor” the nurse replied and complied

“Listen up everyone” the doctor said, not handing off the body.

“Nurse Maddy will not die, not today, not in this operation room, not on our hands.” he said 

“So we will try all our best, God-willing, she will pull through this. This is not the time to be discouraged or to panic. We are walking out of here smiling, yeah?”

“Yeah!” they all replied, full of new energy.

“Dr. Doris,” he said “we drain the blood, enough for us to see and then stop the haemorrhage. We have to locate the ruptured ones in no time, can we?”

“By God’s grace” she replied 

“Do we have enough blood packs?” he asked

“Yes Doctor” Nurse Funmi replied

“We shall drain the blood and stop the haemorrhage” he said and released the instrument in his hand while another doctor put in another.

“Let’s start” he said

“Yes doctor” they all replied

 “Hey, what are you doing?” Tessie said and took the earpiece off Kennie’s ears.

“Heyyy” Kennie said in protest

 Tessie removed the earpiece from her own ears with a smile

“I like that song” she said

“You are now hijacking phones?” Kennie asked

Tessie scoffed. “I only hijack phones that are better than mine, dear” she replied

  Kennie stared a while before kicking her playfully

“I didn’t expect that!” she said

“Well, I wasn’t expecting the sudden earpiece removal” Kennie said

“Well,” Tessie answered “I had called you severally but you were drowned in the wonderful song”

“Oh,” Kennie scratched below his ear “sorry for that”

“It’s cool” Tessie replied with a mischievous look

“If…?” Kennie asked with a look of surrender

“If you’ll let me listen to that song with you”

“Thank God it’s not more than that” Kennie muttered under his breath

“What did you…?” Tessie asked but was interrupted by Kennie who quickly put the earpiece into her ear and pressed play
