  TWO YEARS LATER

“Honey,” a male voice called out

“Yes love” the woman answered.

“Please do quickly or we may be late” the man said

“Yeah, I’m…” the woman answered but was interrupted by the cry of a baby.

“Is that Bev crying?” the man asked

“She won’t let me finish on time because of her cries o” the woman said

“I had better come carry her” the man said

“Better” the woman answered 

“Thanks sweetheart”

  A woman appears wearing a white shirt with black trousers and carrying a small black bag in her right hand.

  A man approaches her, limping a little and opens his hands wide for a hug. The woman embraces him.

“Hey dear” the man says into her ears and she blushes.

“How was your day at the gym?” the woman asks

“It was great, better than the previous time” the man replied

“Thank God” the woman replied as they walked towards a car.

“Oh dear,” the woman said, pausing in her tracks “did you bring the bag I left on the bed?”

“The one with your dress in it? Yes” the man answered.

  The woman breathed in relief and they continued walking

“Thank you . I remembered later that I didn’t ask you to bring it” she said “I made a mental note to call during our break but I forgot to”

  The man opened the door for the woman and closed it when he entered before going to the driver’s side of the car.

“You didn’t have to do that, you know” the woman said “I know you are trying to exercise the leg but don’t stress it, okay?”

“Okay okay, madam.

“Oohh, it’s never too late. It’s my crush course anyway”

“Whatever!” the man made a funny face “I did it for our baby sef, not you”

“If it makes you sleep at night” the woman replied, sticking out a tongue at the man as he put the car into motion.

  A woman is seen wearing a long white robe with a big stomach, bulging forward. Holding a red dress in one hand and a black in another, she turns to her husband

“Do I wear the black or the red?” she asks

“Uhmm, anyone you like most” the man replies

“What about the black and red?” the woman points to the bed, dropping both dresses on her hands in the moment.

“Uhh, sweetie, I think the blue one will do.” The man replied cautiously.

“Really?” the woman moves to the wardrobe and holds it in her hands.

“This one?” she asked

“Yeah. You look really good in it” the man replied

  The woman blushed for a little while, but suddenly her demeanor changed

“Do you also think I’m bad at choosing?” she asks, looking sick

“Who said it?” he asks

“I did” the woman replied, sitting at the edge of the bed, looking sad.

  The man moved closer to her, holding her by the shoulder

“You are beautiful, my lady” he said “You are beautiful in all you do”

“Really? The woman asked, her face lit up already

“Hunhun” the man replied, nodding his head in the affirmative.

“I’m wearing the peach dress then” she jumped up, rummaging the wardrobe.

  The man shook his head with a smile plastered on his face.

  He took a shirt, wore it and started to button it.

“But baby,” he said, looking up “don’t you really think you should stay home?” 
He walked across to her, holding out his hand to her. She stated to fix the buttons into their holes.

“Why?” she asked

  He put the other hand on her big tummy 

“You’re so heavy now, and we are very close to the EDD.”

“Alright” she said, doing the buttons on the chest

“What then do you think? Will you stay?” he asked

  The woman grabbed him by the collar, moved his head closer to herself and shook her head in the negative direction.

“Oh okay, I get it” the man said as the woman freed him

“Let’s not forget to take along the baby items then” she said

“Okay” the man said.

“You’ll collect a thousand and five hundred naira, yeah?” a young lady asks a customer before her

“Yes” the customer replied.
The lady was answering the customer while a man entered with two girls.

“Welcome mummy” they both say in unison and a woman enters from inside the shop.

“Oh, you are here already?” the woman asks as the girls rush to hug her.

  She hugged them in return and her husband hugs her right after.

“Olowo ori mi, you are welcome.” She says “how journey?”

“How was the journey, mummy. Not how journey, huh” the eldest of the girls replied.

“Ooh ehnn, how was the journey?”

“It was good, thanks to God” the  man replied.

“Children, go change” the woman said “Your clothes are in the dressing room. I just put them there”

“Okay mum” the children replied and entered the room.

“How did the day go?” the man asked

“Great” she replied “Daddy Taiwo came for his supplies today. Which reminds me”

“Winnie!” she called “Winifred!”

“Yes ma” the lady came running.

“Don’t forget to give uncle painter his money on your way home and ensure you do all the things you have to do before leaving, okay?”

“Yes ma” she replied and left.

“Are you set?” the man asked the two girls who had appeared behind their mother

“Yes daddy” they replied

“Alright, let’s go” the man said and they all, including the woman, walked out of the shop.
