  MADDY

  If someone told me two years ago that I would be the last to marry of all my friends, I would tell the person to get lost. But here I am, the last but not the least . I am grateful.

“You can open your eyes now” Tonia said and I complied.

“Wow, thanks Tina. You are a wonder” I said

“You are a real beauty” she replied.

“Here, slid into your shoes” Cassie said, bending to put my legs in the shoes.

  Antonia and Cassandra are the friends I made at a group, Love Right Community. I have indeed learnt a lot since I began to recover. This second chance God has given me, I must use it right.

“Hello,” Cassie waved a hand in my face “you can resume the thinking on your husband’s chest. Abeg pause it for now”

“Hun” I replied, giggling like a child.
I didn’t believe my friends would want me back, especially Kennie and Nancy. Despite all I did to them, they still found it in their godly hearts to forgive me.

  I am graced.

“Please let her think o” Tonia said 

“Tonight is gonna be magical”

“That’s all you can think about, you fish” Cassie answered.

“Who is the fish, you donkey?” Tonia said

“Who is the donkey, you rabbit?” Cassie retorted.

“Eh eh, you people have started now.” I said “It is my night na, which one is the fight bayii?”

  They both laughed and clapped hands with each other.

“Abi your night?” Cassie asked with a wink

“I thought you were better” I said, rolling my eyes.

  My phone vibrated and I picked it up.

“Hello?” the person on the line said.

  Oh, it’s Victoria

“Hello” I answered and put it on speaker

“Are you guys coming or we should join the groom with the pastor?”

“Vicky, calm down, we’ll soon be on our way” Tonia said into the phone.

  We heard some shuffling and then a shout

“You guys had better start coming before I come drag you here with my car!” 

“Oh, Tess!” I said and face palmed

“Give the phone to Nancy dear

. We’re already on our way” I said

  I heard a hiss, obviously from Tessie

“Nancy is not here o,” Sherifat said “She went to…”

  Then silence

“Hello?” I said into the phone

“Ehn ehn, she is coming on her way” she said

“No no,” I said “she is coming or she is on her way”

“Okay jare, thank you”

  I’m sure she is noting that in her jotter right now. I smiled to myself. She is a great woman.

“Hello, my dear” I heard Nancy’s col voice

  I am just so graced. I am surrounded by wonderful people.

“Thank you bestie” I said

“For what, honey?” she asked

“For everything” I replied, while Tonia and Cassie pack our things into the car

“Thank God dear. You know what?” she asked

“What?” I responded

“I am so proud of you dearie, I really am” she said 

“See, you are a wonderful woman, beautiful all-round and Ken is so graced to have you”

  A lone tear ran down my cheeks.

“No matter what, you’ll forever be my bestie” I aid “I love you, Nan”

“I love you too, Madison” she replied

“No no no” Tonia yelled “No tears, don’t spoil my hardwork”
Nancy and I laughed.

“Okay” I replied

“My love, start coming now” Nan cy said “I can’t wait to see your beautiful face.

  I heard some noise on the other end.

“Wow! Okay, on my way” I said and she ended the call.

“Let’s go now” I said, packing my gown with my right hand

“There, let me help with that” Cassie said

“I must put some finishing touches on that face o” Tonia said, while we entered the car.

  Tonia sat beside me while Cassie sat in front, casting glances at me from the mirror.

“Set?” the driver asked and I turn at the voice

“Uhh, why are you here now?” I asked

“Shall we pray then?” he asked

NANCY

“Sherry” I tapped Sherifat beside me

“Where is Teni’s dad?” I said “I saw him some time ago seated with Brent”

“Ooh” she said and brought out her phone.

“As a result of his deep appreciation for the kindness of your husband and Maddy’s,” she said “he has decided to be the official driver for Maddy”

“Oh My God!” I exclaimed “That is an honour”

“Thank you for everything, Nancy” Sherifat said “My husband and I are really very grateful”

  After Sherifat left that day, Ken and Brent decided to relieve the church of money matters a bit. They both paid off the bills and later established a business for her husband.

  So, he is now a PA of a businessman who Brent introduced him to and also has motorcycles that he lends men who drive them and bring back some allowance at the end of every week. Also, Sherry’s business has bloomed, unlike before.

  I am thankful for what God has used my husband and Maddy’s to do. I am grateful that it has yielded great results.

“We thank God” I said with a smile.
