“I am so stressed out, do you mind if we start going home now.” Pristin said, stretching her arms. They were in Reeva’s office.

“Well, since the person we are waiting for is already here, we will be out in a few minutes. Besides, I need to get to my mums and you girls are coming with me.”

Skybae frowned. “Really? Well, I don’t mind, been a while I ate Mrs . Jones food.” She had just gotten to L.A that afternoon and had gone to Reeva’s office straight.

“I am trying to see if I can get an official leave on time to prepare for the wedding.” Reeva explained.

“What?” KEMI, who had been quiet all the while said sharply. “You want to take a leave. Isn’t the wedding in the next three months?”

Reeva nodded.

“So, why take a leave now when the whole thing is still away?” KEMI asked, and then raised her hands up to show that it was not her business.

Reeva threw her a cold glare. “I need it to get ready.”

“I think she is right.” Skybae admitted while Pristin scoffed loudly.

“Look, you know I will tell you the right thing.” Skybae declared and continued. “Look, you will be placed on a paid leave normally for your wedding, it is official, so why being too hasty about it

. Give it time, you can still prepare, that is why we are here and you must know that I am flying back first thing on Monday. So what about Andy? When is he coming back?”

Reeva shook her head. “I have no idea. I think he is trying to convince his father to allow him to marry me ever since I disgraced myself in his house few years back.”

This remark made everyone laugh.

“I wouldn’t blame him. No one would want his son to marry a drunkard for a wife.” KEMI remarked, ignoring the scold that Reeva sent her immediately.

“So are you saying that since that horrible moment, you have not seen him?” Skybae asked.

“Sincerely, I have not even spoken to him on the phone.” Reeva confessed.

“Ah!” The rest chorused.

“Look, what would I say? Hello, I am sorry I ruined your shoe, please let me buy you a new one or what?” Reeva asked with sarcasm.

“No, how about, sir, forgive me for the last time but  I really love your son and I will be glad if you can give me a chance to prove to you.” Skybae retorted.

“There has not been a chance okay?” Reeva said, standing up and packing her docs. “Everything has been crazy. Work has been crazy...”

“For two years since you graduated?” Skybae asked and Reeva stopped.

“I hate you when you are always trying to be right Skybae.”

“Well, at least you admit that I am right.”

Reeva packed the documents to a side of her table and left her desk to sit with her friends on the guest seats.

“Look, I am scared of this man okay? What if you are in my shoe?”

“If I were in your shoe, I would never have gotten drunk in the first place.” Skybae retorted and KEMI laughed out.

“God ! I hate you two! You both fit each other so well.” Reeva stated and then faced Pristin. “Pristin, I know you are with me right?”

Pristin nodded.

“What if you are in my shoe?”

Pristin thought for a while. “Well, if I were in your shoe, I would have created a time to make peace all this time and now that I am getting married to his son, I will do everything to make peace even more. Look, why don’t you ask Andy to take you home?”

“Great idea.” Skybae said. “Reeva, now that you are engaged, I think it’s  time to get introduced formally.”

Reeva frowned. “Well, I did talk to Andy about introducing me to his father but...”

“But you didn’t put enough pressure on him right?” Skybae asked.

“I hate you for knowing me so well. Do you mind backing off a lil bit?” Reeva shouted with a scoff.

“Well, I am just trying to be helpful, because you wouldn’t want your father-in-law, to stand up when the priest asks for someone who doesn’t want the couple to be joined together.”

This calmed Reeva down a little bit. Skybae was right and she hated her for it. In fact, she had no idea how they had become friends in the first place, she was always right.

“Okay! I will do that.” Reeva replied and everyone clapped.

“Out of curiosity though, do you know what happened to his mom?” Skybae asked.

“Well...” Reeva started, “I have no idea.”

They all starred at her as if she was crazy.

“You have no idea of what happened to your fiance’s mum, either she died or got divorced, kidnapped?” KEMI asked, she couldn’t believe her ears.

“Well, I asked him often but he always had one reason or another to just make me change the question.” Reeva replied. She was saying the truth. She had indeed asked him so many times but he always ended up changing the topic and then she would later forget that she was even asking anything.

Her friends were quiet.

“That is really strange.” Skybae remarked.

“Why don’t you ask him again?” Skybae suggested, “at least, now that you know what he always does anytime you ask him, then you will be fully prepared this time and even if he changes the question, you are going to let him know that he always does this and that you are tired. If he can’t tell you sensitive things, that means he doesn’t trust you.”

“You think so?” Reeva asked.

“Yes.” The rest chorused.

“Do you really want to get married to someone who doesn’t trust you? Who can’t share stuff with you?” KEMI asked.

Reeva thought for a while. “I really don’t mind.”

“Ugh!” The rest scoffed.

“You are hopeless.” Skybae remarked.

“I still think you should ask him.” Skybae said.

“Okay, I will. I can’t believe I never thought of that. Thanks guys.”

“So, have you decided on who will be your chief brides maid for the day yet?” KEMI asked.

“Do I even need to think about it. It will always be Pristin.” She replied.

“I know. She is the only one who will kiss your ass without complaining.” Skybae retorted.

“You are just jealous.” Pristin said, laughing.

“If I make either of you two my chief bride’s maid...” Reeva said, standing up and  addressing Pristin and KEMI, “I might end up killing someone on my wedding day and believe me, I don’t want to have blood on my hands, especially on my wedding day.”

The rest of them laughed while she went to pick her bag as Skybae and Pristin did the same.

‘So, greet Mrs. Jones for me.” KEMI said as they all waved to her and left the office.

“So, how is the tour going Skybae?”

“Oh! Its going on just fine Mrs. Jones.” Skybae replied.

They were at Mrs. Jones house and on the table was a large plate of pancake and cups of hot coffee which Reeva’s mother just brought in.

“So mum, out of curiosity, the first time I introduced Andy to you, what were the things you asked him?” Reeva asked, reaching for a cup of tea.

The woman frowned. “Is everything okay?”

“Sure, I just want to know somethings.  I got to realize that there are some sensitive things that he might be hiding from me and which he must have probably told you and that is why I am asking, now.”

“Well, why don’t you ask him?”

“He is not available now. He went home.”

“To see his father?”

“Yes. So please, has he ever said anything about his mother to you?”

The woman leaned back and shook her head. “No, he only told me about his father. I tried asking about his mother but if I can recall correctly, that was when he had a call, he excused himself and we never got back to it.”

The three friends exchanged glances and then sipped their drink all once.

“Do you suspect him of anything?” Mrs. Jones asked but Reeva sighed.

“I don’t know mum. My friends believe that he must be hiding something and they also think that I am a bad fiancée if I don’t know everything about him.”

“Well, they may be right.” Her mother said.

“But, we are right Mrs. Jones.” Skybae said. “I mean, how will she get to trust him or know him completely if she doesn’t even know his mother.”

Mrs. Jones smiled. “Well, dear, you are right. But I feel, Andy is trying to hide some things that he may see as embarrassing. He might have a reason why he chose not to talk about his mother and I will suggest that you should not put much pressure on him. Even if you are going to ask him, try not to sound as if you are suspecting him of anything. Besides, trust me, once you are married,  you become part of whatever thing he is hiding or planning. You will become his last resort and I know that you love him.”

“So much mum.”

“Them give it time, let him come back, be sweet, be romantic and then ask, but if he avoids it again, then maybe you need to do a little digging to see what is actually wrong.”

“Well, I agree.” Skybae admitted.

“So, I guess we can all eat this innocent pancake right?” Skybae asked and they all laughed.

“So I spoke to a wedding planner, do you think you and your fiancée are ready for all this?” Mrs. Jones asked.

“Oh mum! We are. I called him yesterday and asked if three months is okay, he said okay that I should go ahead with it...”

Skybae looked up. “I am not sure that he heard what you were saying that time Reeva, you asked about the credit card and then the wedding, but, network wasn’t clear remember?”

Reeva scoffed. “Skybae, I spoke with him, I know him okay? Once he comes back and realizes that plans have started, he won’t have a choice than to go with it.”

Skybae shrugged and bit on her pancake noiselessly.

“So, you were saying something mum....”

. Jones observed for a while. “Do you know what? I think I need to speak with your fiancée instead.”

“But why?”

“I just feel, I need to hear what he has to say about this wedding thing.”

“Mum, forget it, he is in!” Reeva said affirmatively. “Besides, why will he engage me in the first place? For a show off?”

Her mother sighed. “I just want everyone to be on the same page.”

“We are.”

“Do you trust him?”

Reeva smiled. “He has been my best friend for four years mum, who else would I trust. I do.”

“Okay then.”

“Besides, once the marriage is done. Whatever comes before is for better or worse right?”

“Exactly, that is why I am thinking, maybe we need to be patient.”

“But that is why we need to hurry up. Mum, please, I am this close to having my dream wedding, please don’t ruin thing or pull things back, please. I rely on you completely on this?”

The mother sighed and faced Reeva. “I trust your judgement.  No offence Skybae.”

“Oh, none taken.” Skybae replied.

“Well, I would say...” Skybae began before shifting her attention to Reeva who was pleading with her eyes for this one time support.”Let’s do it.”

Reeva sighed with a relief and threw her a kiss.

“Well, let’s do it like this, we are going to plan the wedding, so once your fiancé comes and you two conclude, you and I can work on the rest, your friends would have the most difficult part which is the planning., everyone should get a pen and paper, we have a wedding to plan!”

“Yaay!” Tracy screamed excitedly.

Skybae was confused. “But, we are still going to hire a wedding planner right?”

“Of course, we will but first, let’s do the basics, so that you two wouldn’t have to come here for nothing, Besides, I have a good wedding planner that we can call.” Tracy said.

“Okay mom, let’s do this!”
