Fulfilling Wishes - Episode 12

 

“You know what gladdens me?” Skybae asked as she passed the salt bowl to Mrs. Jones.

“What is that?” The older woman asked while collecting the bowl.

“To know that you understand my point exactly with this whole wedding thing.”

Mrs. Jones chucked and added a pinch of salt into the sauce she was making.

“I know my daughter, better than anyone else and I know that you both often disagree on what actually makes a lot of sense . I wouldn’t want to waste time on planning a wedding which might not happen any moment from now.”

“Yea, I understand.” Skybae replied and was about to talk but was interrupted by the bell that rang.

“Who could that be?” Mrs. Jones asked.

“Are you expecting someone?”

“Just Andy and he can’t be here yet, Reeva said his flight is in the night and that means, at least, around 8:30.”

“Well, let me go get it.”

Some minutes later, Andy, Mrs. Jones and Skybae were sitting down, he had a cup of tea in his hand and looked really exhausted.

“It is so good to see you again Mrs. Jones and you too Skybae.”

The two ladies smiled.

“You took us by surprise Andy, thought you would be coming in the night, why did you get here sooner?” Mrs

. Jones asked.

“Well, I thought I needed to surprise Reeva and since my father is well now, I didn’t want to lose one of my clients that is supposed to see me tomorrow.”

“:Oh! Money summoned you then.” Said Skybae and they all laughed.

“So, have you called Reeva yet?” Mrs. Jones asked.

“She told me she is at a spa, that was minutes before I boarded my flight, I want to shock her when she comes in so please, do not tell her of my arrival yet.”

“Wow! Nice one! She loves surprises.” Skybae stated.

“So how is everyone at home, your dad?”

“They are fine, thank you Mrs....”

“I think it is okay for you to call me Tracy Andy.”

He blushed. “Okay, thanks Tracy, I will not forget that.”

Out of curiosity, Skybae decided to ask what has been bothering her.

“So what exactly happened to your father?”

“He had an heart attack.”

“Wow! I am so sorry. How old is he exactly?” Tracy asked.

“64 precisely.” He replied.

“Is it something that has been happening in the family?” Skybae asked.

“I don’t understand.”

“I mean, is it a common thing in the family?” Skybae asked again.

“If you are asking if it is a blood thing, well it’s not. The doctor said it was out of too much stress and lack of stress. Once he takes some time off, he will be fine.”

“Hmm. Glad he is okay.” Tracy said.”Well, what about your mother? We don’t know anything about her.”

Tracy and Skybae watched as his look changed. “Well, I urm, she died years back.”

“Wow! I am so sorry.” Tracy quickly replied and continued. “What happened exactly?”

“I would rather not discuss that Tracy, please, these are personal stuff and I would like to keep them with me.”

“I am so sorry.” Tracy apologized. “I never meant to upset you dear.”

“It’s okay.” Andy replied, gulping down his drink.

While, he did this, Tracy went to the kitchen to bring out a plate of biscuits.

“Thank you, your biscuits remind me of someone at home, she makes them exactly like this.” Andy said as he took a bite.

“Well, I am glad you love them.” Tracy replied and took a seat. “So, now that you are engaged to my daughter, what else?”

This was the moment that the two ladies had been waiting for and this would determine if Reeva had been right or if they were actually right about them not being on the same page.

Andy chuckled as he ate more biscuits. “Well, I just got this new house at V.I which I would love her to check out once we get back, I hope she will like it.”

The women exchanged glances.

“You mean , you will be seeing houses, like the houses that you two will raise your family in?” Skybae asked.

“Well, hopefully but, I’m hoping we can move in together soon.”

 The ladies exchanged glances again.

“So, you two won’t be shopping for tux or gown or shoes or any planner for anything?” Skybae asked again, she needed to be sure.

Andy chuckled, looking at them suspiciously. “I don’t know what we will be needing tux or gowns for but if she needs more gowns, we can always buy more.”

Tracy smiled, she had been right but Skybae was not convinced, she still needed to be sure that the guy knew what was happening.

“Okay, while you go shopping for house and all, you damn know that that ring on her finger meant she is engaged and will soon be married right?”

“Yea, sure, I do.” Andy replied, “I put the ring there.

. Once we move in, maybe in a year or two we can finally talk about if we are going to have a proper wedding but I don’t think that is actually necessary.”

Skybae watched as he said all the nonsense he was saying and she knew that she needed to say something, just as she opened her mouth, the door opened.

“Andy! Darling!” Reeva screamed and rushed into his arms.

While this was happening, Tracy and Skybae and gone into the kitchen.

“Oh my God! These two are different people. They both want different things. What are we going to do?” Skybae cried in a whisper.

“Well, at least, let’s be happy that we haven’t wasted a dime on preparing anything. Clearly, these two are stranger and they still have a lot to talk about and to learn.”

“So, what do we do? Do we tell Reeva?” Skybae asked.

“We need to make her see that they are two different people, if we tell her, she might get manipulative again and we both know that that doesn’t always end up well.”

Skybae nodded while Pristincame in.

“Well, excuse me, I need to go make one more room ready for our guest.” Tracy said before leaving the ladies.

Skybae watched as the woman left the kitchen and stared at Pristin who was looking as if she had just discovered the truth about something.

“Why didn’t you call us that he was home?” She asked.

“We needed a time alone with him.” Skybae replied.

“I don’t understand, what time?”

“Mrs. Jones was right, Andy has a basket of secrets about his family.”

Pristin gasped. “Really? Hope he is at least sure about the wedding?”

Skybae sighed.

“Uh-oh, when you sigh, it is never a good thing.”

“Well, you are right. Andy has no intention of getting married anytime soon. You can’t believe that he is talking about in a year or two.”

“Oh goodness! That is a long way off!”

“Exactly my thought.”

“Reeva would never succumb to this.”

“I know, she is too excited about all this wedding thingy.”

Pristin thought for a while. “So what do we do?”

“Her mother said that we need to make her detect the difference in their plans, she needs to see it herself without anyone telling her, maybe once she sees that she will know what to do.”

“But how do we do that?”

‘Tonight, after Dinner, make sure you follow my lead, and one more thing, you are the nice one, give Reeva a hint to discuss his family tonight so she can see for herself where something is wrong and if she still loves him, they need to find a solution first.”

Pristin sighed. “Why do I feel as if we are trying to ruin her relationship?”

“No, we are not messing up her relationship, we are just showing her clarity.”
