Fulfilling Wishes - Episode 11

 

“Do you need anything father? I can ask Ruthie to get it for you.”

“No, my son, I am fine.” Michael said.

They had returned home that Sunday morning and he was in his father’s room. Ruthie was downstairs, preparing their meal.

“So, what’s up with Maggie?” His father  teased.

“Maggie? She is not here but she said she will come today.” Andy replied, unaware that his father was pulling his legs.

“I mean, what are you two doing? I know all about your childhood hanky-panky, so what is it this time around?”

Andy smiled. “We are just friends father, just like I have told you.”

“I have seen  the way she looked at you, she still wants you.”
“And I have seen the way you look at Ruthie father, after all these years!”

His father shut his eyes and laughed aloud . “How do I look at her son? What are you talking about?”

“Father, I know that it is normal for you to feel something towards her and I have known these since I was 17, so it is okay to admit it. You two keep acting like childhood and you will never get to be together.”

“Ruthie will never get over Pablo, she loved  the man too much and I don’t want to compete with a dead man.”

“But you don’t even know what she wants.”

“I can’t give a woman access to my heart again, whatever we are doing, I am okay with it, it is better than admitting and let her hurt me or take me for granted. I think I have taught you lots of things son, you should have understood how love works by now.”

While they talked, the bell rang and the butler stepped in.

. Jackson and his daughter are downstairs.” The butler said.

“Good, send them to my room.” Michael replied and the butler left.

“You see, Maggie is here again, to see you.” His father teased.

“Well, she is only here to bid me farewell, I told her that I would be leaving once  you have been brought home, I need to go back to work soon father.” He stood, walked to the side of the bed and bent to kiss his father on the forehead. While he did this, the door opened and Maggi’s father came in. He was a lot taller, his hair was all white, he looked strong for a man in his early sixties.

“You bastard. You were so lucky to not have died, I would have followed you and dragged your wrinkly ass back.” He said as he entered.

“Well, I had to come back to see your wrinkly ugly face one more time. “ His father replied, the two men laughed before finally embracing.

“How are you doing son?” Mr. Jackson asked Andy who was going out.

“Fine Mr. Jack.”

“Wow! You have grown into such a fine man, I could barely recognize you.”

Andy smiled and excused himself.

“So, you are going back tomorrow?” Maggie asked, sipping from her cup of tea.

“Tonight actually. My boss has given me enough time, I really need to get going.”

“You are a good son, your father must be so proud.”

“He is.”

They drank in silence.

“So, are you still into housing?”

Maggie nodded. “Yea, there is a house in V.I which is available right now, it is really  beautiful, you should take a look, perfect for those that are starting a family together.”

He threw her a knowing look. “Really?”

“Yes. I will send you specs once I get back home, it just got to my notice before I left the house and I haven’t actually gotten the pictures yet, I will be in V.I hopefully in the next two weeks, would you like to check it out?”

He nodded. “Yea, I am actually tired of my house, I think I and Reeva could use a bigger place.”

“It is big, four rooms, beautiful scenery, by the lake side, those are all I can remember for now.”

Andy chuckled and observed her for a while.

“What is it?”

“You and housing? Is this going to be something you will be doing for a while?”

“Yea, I love doing it, I can always do my law anytime I want but now, housing is the main thing.

So are you going to tell Reeva about the whole, wedding later stuff or is that you are not having a wedding at all, I don’t really understand you.”

“Reeva only wants to be sure that someone is willing to marry her. She told me about the whole thing with your ex, Tony, how he broke up with her on the very day that they were supposed to be engaged.”

“Oh, did she tell you how she manipulated him into asking him to marry her?”

Andy nodded. “Yes, she told me but we cannot blame her, she wanted more, assurance and security and I just gave her that with the ring, once we move in together, everything will be fine. Wedding is not really a big deal,m Ruthie has been talking to me, so I might still consider the whole party stuff but once we move in  together and we start having children, why do we need wedding anyway?”

Maggie gasped. “You are so messed up Andy, I hope you tell Reeva this on time and see what she really wants.”
“I tell you, she is not someone who is bent on a wedding thing.”

“Maybe you don’t even know her. You two need to have a serious talk. I think you don’t even know each other enough. You didn’t tell her about your mum, about your father being in the hospital, why did you engage her anyway?”

Andy sighed. “Maggie, enough about me okay, it is my life, do you mind, minding your own business?”

“Look, I am not trying to mess things up for you but, I am just telling you what I am seeing in this relationship. It’s like you two are doing things on your own separately instead of together. Trust me, there is no girl that doesn’t dream of the day of her wedding and with the kind of that girl , if Tony was right about her, I can bet that shhe is already planning it without you.”

Andy’s phone rang. “Well, thank God, please excuse me.” He said, standing up, he was already getting tired of the discussion.

Skybae and Pristin watched as Reeva excused herself to speak with Andy on the phone.

“Do you think that everything is fine between them?” Skybae asked.

“I don’t know. I am as clueless as you are.” Pristin replied. “I will be catching the first flight back to work tomorrow morning.

. I guess my work is done here.”

“So, everything we came for is just over?” Skybae asked.

“We had come here to help prepare for a wedding, right?” Skybae asked while  Pristin nodded, “and we have done our part, so what else?”

“Well, we didn’t even buy anything.” Skybae replied.

“Don’t you understand what Mrs. Jones has been saying all this while?” Skybae asked, a little angry, “we can’t do anything yet until Andy is part of it.”

“Well, I thought that Reeva said...” Pristin started.

“Forget what Reeva said, once Andy is here, everything will be set.” Mrs Jones explained as she came in, “it is not ideal when we plan things behind the groom. I know my daughter, she can be manipulative, I am sure that we remember everything that happened with Tony and how she dragged him here, so, I don’t want her to make a fool of herself, you understand what I’m saying right.”

Both girls nodded.

“I feel she is pushing this thing a bit far, that day when she spoke with Andy, I bet that he never heard a single word of whatever she had said, I was there.” Skybae explained.

“Well, hopefully when Andy comes, he can tell us what he wants.”

“Too bad, we don’t even know when he will be coming.” Skybae stated.  Just then Reeva rushed in, all smiles.

“Guess what? She asked everyone in the room but no one could answer.

“Andy is coming here tonight!”

“Wow!” Everyone chorused at the same time.

“That is great news, will he be coming here tonight ?”

“He will be coming here.” Reeva cried.

“ I guess we are going to make an additional dinner tonight.” Mrs. Tracy said as she retreated to the kitchen.

“So you guys are back, thank God.” Skybae cried.

“Well, he apologized for jumping into conclusion and not telling me some things and I apologized for being such a selfish spoilt fiancée.” Reeva said proudly. “I am so excited; I have missed him so much. Once we are married, I will make sure he doesn’t leave for anywhere without me.”

“Even when he is going to the toilet?” Skybae joked and Pristin laughed.

“You are such a killjoy Skybae!” Reeva hissed and walked to sit beside her two friends.

“So, what do you think of Tony when you saw him today?” Skybae asked, Facing Reeva who was battling with the TV remote.

“Nothing, he looks pretty the same way to me.” Reeva replied.

“Do you know that he and Maggie broke up?” Skybae asked.

“Are you serious? When was that?” Reeva asked, a little surprised.

“When he came into the dinner today, I took the liberty of checking his facebook status and here is what I found.” She said, showing the two her phone. They were on his facebook status and it stated ‘single.’

“This doesn’t mean anything, you know that many people use that to be discreet.” Reeva stated.

“Well, I thought so too but if all is well, its been more than two years since they had been engaged, don’t you think that they should be married by now?” Skybae asked again.

“How is that our business? He broke up with our friend, if he likes, he can jump into the lagoon who cares?” Pristin retorted.

“Well, I do. I don’t know why but I just want to know about every little misfortune that befalls him.” Skybae announced and then scrolled through her phone, “look, I even checked Maggie’s status and she didn’t even have any single picture of Tony on her profile.”

“Well, they may have broken up like you have said but that doesn’t affect me.” Reeva said and stood up. “Andy is coming here tonight, I need to look so beautiful for him, I will hit the saloon and then the spa, are you guys coming?”

Skybae shook her head. “I am tired, I will rather stay here and prepare for my journey back tomorrow.”

“Typical.” Reeva hissed and addressed Pristin. “What about you?”

“Well, I’m your girl.” Pristin said with a wink.

“Typical.” Skybae hissed.
