Finding Solace - Episode 22
It was almost afternoon and she was still sleeping . The “weakling” symbol that I have used for her must have really been so strong on her. I shook my head. She was a lost cause.
I had brought her safely to the closest place I was able to find at such a night. It was a room, one bed, two chairs and a table lamp . It was affordable and somehow safe.
When she wakes up, she would be so hungry and not just for food, for details too.
I took another glance at her. Nobody would believe that the To-be-queen of all the werewolves in Africa was this vulnerable. Not that anybody would believe we actually existed anyways, we had kept that information sealed for many years, well, that was actually my job and I was so good at it.
She stirred and my brows were raised. Then she flung her eyes open. Shocked to discover she was tied up. That was a precaution I had to take. Anyone could get different reaction from the ‘Weakling’. Some might just ‘shift’ straight upon wakening and start attacking while others just get incredibly hungry for something, it was always different things though, information or just food or water and sometimes, sex. It depended on something they have actually suppressed for a while and that would actually represent their weakness . In her case, I had expected both ‘shifting’ and ‘hunger’ so I tied her up. Even if she was just regaining her memories, a ‘LUNA’ is not predictable.
She was calm at first, she pulled at the ropes and starred at me as if this was unbelievable! Then she stopped pulling, a worried look came over her face.
“Please, is Nick okay? Is he angry with me? Can I see him, can you bring him here?”
I scoffed. This was frigging’ unbelievable. Of all the things she could ask for. I stood up and walked closer to her with a cup in my hand.
“You need to drink this.” I stated, bringing the cup to her lips.
“Have you seen Nick?” She asked again, she sounded more concerned than I actually expected.
“Thankfully no and hopefully never will. Now drink this before I shove it down your throat. “I threatened angrily. She complied and gulped down the drink without asking what it contained. That should neutralize whatever effect the ‘weakling’ had caused her.
“So can you untie me? I am not your slave Noah! Besides, you know if Nick finds you doing this to me, he would butcher you!”
“Keep quiet!” I ordered, raising my voice a little. The content should digest and start working soon.
“Noah. Please, I don’t understand all these…”
Well,, that was better. I walked to her and sat beside the bed.
“Have you ever had a dream about a wolf-like animal? Or Have you experienced the heightening of senses like, hearing someone’s heart beating, perceiving the scent of another even when they are a hundred miles away….?”
She nodded curiously.
“Good. I am sure you have not realized that, not only can you do that but you are super powerful right now, super fast too. Like if you run a ten thousand marathon race a thousand times, you will end up winning each one while completing the races even before others could finish a single one.”
She looked at me as if I was insane.
“See, I hope the mixture you gave me was to kill me and not to believe in this nonsense!”
“You should keep calm and listen to me because tomorrow is the full moon and you are shifting tomorrow!”
Her brows were deeply furrowed. “Have you taken alcohol before coming here?” Then she looked so alarmed. “Did you bring me here to rape me Noah?”
I exhaled sharply. This was not working but I needed to try more.
“I didn’t bring you here to rape you Catherine. You are a ‘Luna’ my ‘Luna.’ I cannot rape you but I am to mate with you. Right now, I am the alpha of our pack and you are my mate. We need to come together during the full moon tomorrow as the true husband and wife we are meant to revive our pack.”
I studied her. Not a single reaction. To her, I was just completely mad.
‘You will not believe me , I know but I will continue so that by midnight when the full moon sets, and everything comes back to you, you would realize that I am on your side.”
She sighed loudly but I pressed on.
“People believed there are no were-wolves in Africa, there is no record of it but we exist and we have our packs, in Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Tanzania and here in Nigeria. However, we originated from Nigeria centuries ago. Your generation and my generation have always been the Alpha or the ‘Luna’ and now it is our turn.”
As far as I could tell, she was just listening to a bed time story with the way her eyes were glazed over.
“We are running out of history and we need to mate, raise packs and unify our strength once more.”
“Well, goodluck with that. Please, do you have Nick’s number?”
I was so furious I felt the cup broke in my hand and she stared at me in horror.
“You have always been so reckless so stupid, so selfish. That was what killed your family years back> You do not think about others feeling, but yourself. This was why you stupidly ran away a long time ago, putting all our lives at risk just because you didn’t want to accept who you are! But now, its either you die or take responsibility!”
If I wasn’t scared before, I was scared now. Noah’s voice was turning into a snarl of an angry animal, his face contorted; all thoughts of Nick vanished from my memory. I could see sparks of fire in his pupils, the skin on his face all pulled together and ….I gasped….were those fangs at his front teeth?
I felt myself shaking at the mere sight, it was just terrifying and my heart was pounding so loud but somehow, in this moment, I knew I didn’t need to be scared of him. That was just insane right? Especially when my brain was shouting ‘run, run, run’!
He became his normal self as he finished his sentence and then waited for my reaction.
“I am not scared of you.” I finally said, even without being sure why I shouldn’t be.
He looked surprised and chuckled. “Why not?”
“I don’t know.” I said cautiously. “So, am I something like that?”
He nodded. “Yeah, you are.”
“You said my family died?”
“Yea, you left, the worry killed your mother and the trauma of loosing wife and daughter killed your father.” He replied without battling eyelashes, I could sense that his heart beating shifted a little, it increased steadily than before.
“Do I have any sibling?”
“No.” He replied. His heart beating was still the same.
“Why did I leave?” I asked.
“You thought we were an abomination.”
His heart beating was reducing to normal now.
“So, what will happen tomorrow?”
“You will shift completely. Also, you will be very powerful , very angry and dangerous. That is why you need me, I know how to control you and then we can finally perform the ritual.”
“Why do you get to control me?” I asked again.
“Because I am your Alpha, the leader of our pack.”
“Our pack?” I asked and he nodded. “How many are we?”
I could sense he believed I was toying with him . “Right now, it is just the two of us, omce we come together,we will raise a pack.”
“So now, you are the alpha of a no-pack?” I asked, almost bursting into laughter but he looked grim.“So we would do that through the mating…?”
“Is it like having sex?” I asked curiously and to my disappointment he nodded.
“Yes but beastlier.” He said with a grin on purpose.
I gulped. Great! This was a nightmare. He turned around and was fixing something on table. I had the feeling he was still hiding something and wasn’t telling me the whole story. Suddenly, Nick’s face flashed in my memory and I terribly missed him.
I wasn’t sure but probably she believed everything I said. She needed to. She was a rogue who needed to be dealt with just like every member of her family.
Her father was the Alpha and being the first daughter, she was like a princess, a very powerful one of which thankfully she had no idea. He had raised chaos when he told the pack there was a cure and to my disappointment, they all wanted to find the cure for us to be human again. Why would someone want to be so vulnerable, so weak? Why won’t they want to live forever.

. Of course, they didn’t listen to me, I was a nobody.
I personally had killed all of them, lied to them that I got the cure, instead it was a poison but they had no idea. I could still remember their looks of horror before they finally slumped to the ground one after the other. Then I had called the hunters and they had burnt them all. Of course they never knew I was a werewolf myself, they thought I was a hunter too. Somehow, she had managed to escape that night and they had looked for her before they lost her. Then I realized how handy she could be for me. In the full moon, we will mate, and we would start a new pack together and finally , I could become the king, the Alpha that I have always wanted to be. Attacking her conscience was the first step, and she would never truly know which was the truth and which was a lie…thanks to the mixture I gave her.
Okay people. Comment o! Are we clear now?
