Finding Solace - Episode 28

NARRATORS POV

He heaved a sigh of great relief as their car came to a halt, he pulled the brake slowly and waited as he watched the two stepped out of the car and then Rasaq went to open the boot, brought out their bags of weapon.

WoW! This is about to get so real!

He made sure there was a considerable amount of distance between them so there was no way he could be sighted. Later he also stepped out of the car, he had no weapon so he just took his torch and closed the door quietly.

He saw them as they disappeared down a left path, he followed slowly, covering his torch with a hand so they would not see the flicker of his light. He decided to put off the light. The full moon was bright enough for him to see.

He saw the light from their torches on another car , close to where they were headed. When they got there, they opened the door which was unlocked, then they said something, closed and brought out their guns before walking down further.

When he finally got to the car, he waited to see if they were still in sight, they weren’t

. Then he quietly opened the car and he shrank back in horror.

A man in the driver’s seat was resting his head against the wheel. Everywhere was covered in blood which was drying up already. There were scratches on his  cheeks and neck, and his cloth was torn into pieces. Then he saw a brown Gucci bag which looked familiar, at the back seat. Holding his breath, he took it out and closed the door behind him.

Inside the bag was the Samsung he had bought for Fiona.

What was Fiona’s phone doing in Yvonne’s bag and could  this be the driver that had brought her here?

He took the bag with him and hurried along. He could no longer see the two men and everywhere was now pitch black.

For the first time, he was completely aware of his stupidity. He didn’t want to call Rasaq incase he messes up things for them.

This was really a bad idea. He never should have come here at all.

He flickered his torch around him. Tall dry trees surrounded the area with few grasses.

He needed to go back.

He turned around and stopped as he saw something. His heart was thumping so loud. He listened, there was nothing, then he realized it was his own shadow.

He finally relaxed and continued to walk carefully. Trying hard to be as confident as he could be but then he stopped again as he heard something snap behind him.

Please be nothing..please be nothing….

He could feel a stream of sweat running down slowly along the center of his back. He held his breath as he heard another snap.

Something or someone was behind him….

His fingers were curled into a fist, nails digging into his palm…

He slowly turned around.

What he saw was the exact picture of his nightmare. Standing before him was the biggest and  blackest wolf he had ever seen. It was tall with shiny yellow eyes. Blood was dripping from its mouth and it growled angrily at him.

Fear engulfed his existence, torturing his guts,, churning his stomach intense cramps.

The wolf stepped closer while he took a step backwards. He was terrified and calm at the same time. He held his breath, afraid of breathing.

The wolf snarled at him, baring  its blood-stained teeth, it looked angry and just as it took another step towards him, he saw a white flash in between them. It was another wolf.

Its skin was as white as the snow. Its stance was confident and body muscular. She looked angry, facing the other wolf.

Nick wiped the sweat off she regarded him fleetingly, wagged her tail slightly  before facing its partner.  

This was not happening!

It gave a loud growl. Its thick pelt of  silver fur had risen and stood sharply on  end. Its hackles raised in defense and it bared a set of razor teeth. It stood low to the floor so it looked as if it was ready to pounce on the other.

Nick stepped further back as the two wolfs leapt on each other. Growling and whimpering. He was confused, Why did the other wolf save him?

Just then, there was a loud bang like a gunshot, followed by a loud howl. Nick watched as the other black wolf, moved back and immediately disappeared into the woods fast.

Nick was still confused but he saw the white wolf lying down, whimpering there was blood on one of its hinds. It was hit. That could mean that the hunters were around.

Nick looked around, he could see the light from their torches getting closer.

. He looked at the wolf which was still lying down in pain.

That instant, the wolf looked at him and he could swear a wave of familiarity and trust came over him.

Those deep blue eyes were looking at him with….pleading eyes. It was like déjà vu.

He walked slowly, closer and bent down, looking at it.

He wasn’t afraid even though he couldn’t understand all these. Those eyes, he had seen them before but how…

The lights got closer. He wasn’t sure if they had seen him so instead, he quickly removed his jacket and threw it over the wolf, then quickly bent in front of it as if trying to tie his shoes.

‘What the hell are you doing here?” The no-name man asked.

“Thanks guys, you just saved my life. The wolf has gone that way.” Nick said, pointing to the other side.

“Why are you bending like that? Are you hurt?” Rasaq asked suspiciously.

“No, I am trying to be okay, I was almost eaten by a wolf!” Nick retorted.

“Okay. Just go back home. We don’t need distraction.” The no-name man said before disappearing into the woods again.

He just saved a wolf’s life for no reason. Maybe he was really having a nightmare. Then he turned around and shrank back, losing his balance, he fell to the ground.

Lying in the sand , his jacket covering the chest and part of the vulva was a naked but wounded Fiona.

OKAY! That just happened. I think I loved this episode. What do you think?
