Brothers - Episode 18

 

Isabel just finished sobbing in the bathroom, she cleaned her tears and got under the shower, she let it run down her body as she thought about her life in the past months, how she had ruined it with her own hands because of lust..Richard had not told his mother what had happened, it would have broken the poor woman and as far as Richard was concerned they were still together....

She hated him for making her go through the tortue, seeing him everyday, remembering what she did to him, both living like strangers in the same house...

She finished and tying a towel, came out of the bathroom,  Richard had left very early in the morning as usual, he's been doing that for  3 months now and it got her devastated. She thought he had forgiven her and they were going to move on with their lives but it was not looking like it, she had decided several times to leave the relationship and the house but she was retained at the hospital so had to stay at the house till she got her footing, she had thought of looking for another job but the job was lucrative and it wasn't so easy finding another in Abuja . She decided then it was fate dealing with her, she had to face her nemesis, besides she knew she had done wrong and wanted to fix her relationship to the best of her ability, but Richard had become a shadow of himself, he was no.longer the guy she fell.in love with, she wondered at how much damage she'd done to him because no matter what she seemed to do in the house for him, he didn't notice.

Jessica had since moved on and Raymond and her were still working in the hospital, she recalled the conversation they had months ago after she came to the hospital when he had blocked her that he wanted to talk

"What is it Raymond, there is nothing to talk about "she had blurted" just stay out of my way"she warned

"What was I supposed to do uh." he began "I panicked..I ..I wasn't ready, I didn't know he was going to propose"

She glared at him "you are despicable Raymond...you led me on to believe you loved me"

"I do.."he said

"Get off my face" she said with dramatics

He held her hands "please Isabel..I still love you"he said

She searched his gaze"I hate you Raymond, I wish you were never born" she  left him there and walked away while he sighed and let her go.

Raymond tapped his pen against his desk as he thought about Isabel, it had not been the same since the whole issue panned out, she wasn't talking to him except when necessary though she looked miserable, his brother was obviously not treating her well since the event, yet she refused to leave him. He didn't blame Richard though he imagined what he could have done if it had happened to him instead, he couldn't remember the last time he talked with his brother, he didn't know how they were going to resolve this..he scattered the stuff on his desk then held his face and roved it.

Richard had been silent about the whole issue and Raymond knew with time he would retort, he just didn't know when and how.

​​​The company had been doing well although it was having some challenges which the board blamed him for, he believed everyone hated him now and had decided to find solace in alcohol and women but that did not fill the emptiness in his heart for hurting his brother and losing Isabel at the same time..was it all  worth it in the end....?

His phone rang, he didn't want to pick up being in a sobre mood but picked after several anxiuos rings, he  took it up and saw it was Rosa...

'Sir your attention is needed here now.."she said breathless

He snatched up his car keys..

"What happened.....What happened Rosa..."

But it was too heavy for her to say...

Isabel crossed her legs reading a magazine in the sitting room she turned a page as she heard voices and Richard walked in , this time though he had a woman with him, she wore a business suit and was on heels, looking around her eyes landed on Isabel who had dropped the magazine wondering who she was...

She looked around "This is beautiful Rich..you've done well for yourself" she rested her hand on his arm and he took it and smiled before he noticed her eyeing their hands together...

"Oh yeah..you should meet Isabel.

. This is Natasha Daniels, she's an old classmate of mine and is in town for a while"he said

The two women sized each other up, Isabel recovered herself

"Oh hi..I assume you doing business together"she said standing up to extend her hand for a shake

"Yes..he and I are venturing into something new and I'm here so we can discuss it"

"Yeah she had been abroad but had returned to start up an idea she's been cooking, I'm helping her on it" Richard said arms crossed

"I think you're more like a partner" she said hitting him as they both laughed

Isabel managed a tight lipped smile and decided to play host

"Well make yourself at home"

"Of course..this is a nice place" she commended as she sat and crossed her legs,  Isabel went to get drinks eyes on her as she and Richard talked and laughed, she kept her hand on Richards thigh as Isabel came back  with the drinks

" You so funny Rich..oh thank you .." she took it and sipped

"You know Nat and I were pretty close in school, glad we get to see again and work together" Rich said taking up her hand as they held gazes.. Isabel cleared her throat

"So which of the hotels are you lodging?" She asked to make convo as she sat on opposite settie

Natasha looked surprised as she kept her wine and looked at Richard

"I'm staying here of course, Richard and I already discussed it" she said in dismissal, Isabel looked at Richard who had a passive look on his face, she cleared her throat and looked down

"I'm not..I'm not sure I was told about that..?"she said with a chuckle looking at Richard

Natasha laughed and stood up"Richard and I go way back, I always stay with him whenever I come to town, relax woman I'm not about to snatch your boyfriend, I know he's yours"she stood up to inspect pictures while Isabel's mouth got dry...
