Brothers - Episode 8

 

"Are you okay?" Jessica asked Raymond when they were left alone at the backseat of the car while Richard and Isabel sat in front...They had decided to hit the club after then and the night had been fun so far. 

Richard for once did not hit on any girl, but there was a sizzling tension between Raymond and Isabel, and if Jessica had noticed she didn't say anything till now, Raymond was busy pressing his phone but he looked at her

"I'm fine, why?"

"You've just been quiet" she said

"Well I'm not Richard"

"I mean exceptionally"

"I'm fine"he said

"Okay...just know you can talk ro me about anything" she said rubbing his arm, he looked at it...Isabel turned to look at them

"So we were thinking of the carribean for the vacation"

"Dubai I'm thinking would be cool"Jess said

"We've been to Dubai"Richard said

"I think we should just check it up, I'm thinking there are very nice places one can do vacation in Nigeria" Raymond said not wanting to be so far away

"Its a vacation Raymond , we supposed to travel"Isabel said with an eyeroll

"I'll talk to my agent, maybe he'll have something"Jessica said then began whispering to Raymond again. Isabel turned back forward and tried not to think about the way Raymond had been looking at her lately, if his brother had noticed, he hadn't said anything...she met his gaze again at the mirror and looked away deciding to focus instead on Richard..

" This is our stop...thanks for a terrific night"Jess said

"Yeah we should do this again"Raymond said

"Sure thing bro.."Richard fist bumped him, Raymond pecked her and got out of the car...there was silence as they both drove off

" so when next are you on call?"he asked

"Sunday..and the rest of the week"

"Me too I have lots to do this weekend, glad we could do this now"

"Yeah" she was silent again

"Tell me something positive Frank" Richard said as he leaned back on his chair as Amaka gave him a foot massage

"I've tried to reach him severally but he's playing games, he finally talked to me then requested he met with you in person"

"What did you say to that, that's not gonna be possible, I'm not supposed to be seen with him, what game is the bastard playing"

"Guess he's a tougher nut to crack than we expected but he's the best shot we got"

Richard leaned forward"so how soon can you fix a meeting..."he said not having a choice, Amaka knelt beside him and loosened his belt

"As soon as I can , maybe this friday"

"Do that...we have a lot to loose if I don't talk to him, just hope that girlfriend of mine does as she's told" he cut the call and kept the phone....then relaxed to her ministrations.

"So if the patient's having seizures we should be thinking about a tumour in the brain among other things"Alex said

"Especially as he's never had a seizure" Isabel said nodding

"His age too is a factor..."Raymond said then tapped his pen" let's do a CT then take it from there..."

Taking down notes, Isabel left with the other junior doctor Loretta and Alex sat on the table looking at Raymond

"How far have you gone with the project?"he asked

"Would soon be done..have to present to the department in a week"

​​​​​​"That's tough I do not envy you my man, what about the company?"

"It's alrii, my man's on top of the game with it, I barely have to do anything "

"That's cool, but your father should have given it to Richard, he has more managerial skills seeing he has his own company"Alex said crossing his arms

"My father was a wise man, whatever he did, he had his reasons for them, besides Richard's cool with it"

"Really, so you both are no longer fighting"

"No we not"

​​​​"Nice, you're brothers anyway, how's Jamima my sweety "he asked with a smile

"She's fine, back to school...I told you she's underaged, except you're a pedophile"

" Isabel is engaged "Raymond said painfully

"I don't see a ring"

"My brother is going to marry her.."

"I guess, I just don't want her growing old waiting for the wrong man"

"Its not your job to save her, she loves my brother"

"That's a big problem"Alex said.

After he left, Raymond sat down thinking, knowing he was right, Richard had Isabel wrapped around his finger, and knew it. Everyone knew he was cheating on her yet she remained in the relationship, the door was knocked on and Isabel poked her head in

"can I come in?"

"Uhuh"

He was barely doing anything and needed the company...

She came in"can we talk?"she asked sitting down

"What about?"he asked looking up at her when she didn't say anything else...

"What exactly do you need me to do, get to the point?"

They finally met that Friday at a local bar where no one of their status might find them together

" Mr Jacobs you know a lot about this company, the finances, books and all" Richard leaned forward"I want you to set my brother up"

"That would not be easy to pull off, your brother is a very honest man, everybody knows that, even the board is behind him"

"I'm offering you two million"

"That's a trifle amount for what you're about to do?" Jacob finished his beer and stood up"I won't be a part of this, you can keep your money"

Richard chuckled knowing everyone had a price.."Five million.... if I had the company, I'd be offering more but I don't "he leaned forward"What do you say Mr Jacobs, work with me and reap the benefits, I'm sure my brother does not pay you up to half of that" he said.

Jacob looked at him then sat back down.

*hmm, so what do you think Isabel told Raymond, did Richard notice the tension between them, Is Mr Jacobs going to agree to it?
