Brothers - Episode 7

 

Isabel got out of bed and wore her robe, glancing back at Richard who was still sleeping, it was two weeks after their anniversary and she wondered at the game he was playing when he had asked her to get closer to his brother

"I don't understand, we already close" she said then looked back at him

"I mean closer, I need to know what he's up to....his every move"

She chuckled then turned to look at him

"I think you should ask his girlfriend for that info..besides why would you need to know what he's doing." she placed one hand on her waist

"Because I need to know...he's closer to you than Jess..." he said with a duh then went to pour himself a drink "makes me worry but I trust you.." he said

She stared at him wonderingly

"What's this about?"

"Nothing" he shrugged sipping

"I thought your fight was over but now you want me to spy on him?"

"I didn't say.... spy..get close"

"Okay.....to what end?" she walked towards the fridge and went about bringing out the food to put in the microwave, she didn't know what he was playing at, she liked Raymond, he was a good guy and she couldn't wait to be a part of their family but Richard was a different kind of person, she didn't know why he couldn't just let go and it was just money

"you should be able to at least tell me what's going on if I'm going to be a part of this" She said

"You're smart....you can figure that out" he said with a shrug.

She turned to look at Raymond at the clinical meeting as he focused on the presenter, wondering if he too had something up his sleeves for his brother, her phone buzzed and she saw it was Jessica, she decided to call her back later, maybe they two could resolve this squibble

"Hey Jess. . sorry I was at the clinical meeting"she said when she got out

"Really, been tryna reach that boyfriend of mine but he wasn't picking, thought to call you instead"

"Yeah he was at the meeting..how's the modelling going."

"It's fine .how's work?" 

"Cool"Isabel said taking up a case note  from a nurse to write on "Is it me or our dates have something going on?"she asked, maybe Jess knew something

"I have no idea about that..but I thought they all cool?"Jess said

"They were but I'm thinking its all a fascade...don't know why they are fighting, its just cash"

" you know men and testosterone "Jess said," just wanna be the winner of the lame game they are both playing"

Isabel laughed" we should meet up, its been damn long we hung out?"She said

"Yeah, we could go out with the guys, the four of us, we might be able to do something about the sizzling tension"

"Go figure, girl power "Isabel said with a chuckle

"So would Friday be free?"Jess asked

"Yea am not on call friday, Raymond isn't either, we could meet up"

"Alrii...see you then babe"

"Alrii..take care" 

Isabel cut and smiled, Jess was cool and she envied her relationship with Raymond, it seemed perfect, Richard was just...speaking of which, she remembered she had to see him for a case, she went to his office and knocked, he said to come in, she opened the door and  looked in

"hey Is.." he said glancing up "come in"

He was busy with his laptop as usual

"Sup.."he said still typing

"I uh..was wondering what antibiotic we should place that patient on"she said sitting down, he looked up

"Who...?"

After she briefed him, and he responded, he resumed typing while she stared at him

"So Jess called"she began

"She did?"

"She was tryna reach you"

He paused "I'll call her later"he said

"What are you doing?"she asked leaning forward

"Working on my project..

. Its hectic"he said

" Thats usually how it is"she was silent then "So uh, ....are you and Richard cool?"

He looked up "yeah why..?"

"I was wondering.."

"Yea we cool and all, just have our lives" he said then when she didnt reply, he paused his typing and looked at her

"Why..d'u think he's up to some thing?"

"No..of course not" she said with a chuckle "wonder why you would think that..." She tapped on the table

Raymond wondered at himself, of course she'd protect her boyfriend

"Jess and I were planning a weekend date, just wanted to know if you were cool with it" She continued, oh so that was it..

He  leaned back on his chair "yeah, that would be nice"

"Yeah"

She stared at him wondering why Richard would want to hurt him, they were brothers and she hoped their get together would help them realise that..

Deciding he needed to concentrate, she stood up to leave, after she left, he leaned back on his chair and blew out a breath.

They all decided to meet up in a restaurant, a band played in the distance as they walked in together into the joint

"Can't believe we are doing this Ray, been so long".Richard said after they ordered

" yea we've all been busy"Raymond replied

"I don't think I've talked to Jess since forever"Richard said

"You have Isabel to distract you" Jess said rolling her finger around her wine glass, Raymond cleared his throat and leaned forward taking up his wineglass, he raised it up

"To brotherhood....and friendship"

They cheered and hit glasses, Raymond decided he missed his brother as they all talked and chatted as the  night wore on

"I think we should take a vacation..just the four of us, what do you say Ray?" Richard said his arms stretched out on the chair

"Uh..we would have to fix a time we are all available, I have my leave...maybe then" Raymond agreed, work was hectic too, he needed a break and a time together with Richard to figure him out..

"But then Isabel would be busy.."Jess said" I don't have anything going on anytime soon so I'm in"

"I'm finishing soon, maybe then"Is chirped in" it'd be fun, can't wait "she met Raymond's gaze and smiled

"Yeah, I forgot my baby would soon be done with her service" Richard said and kissed her on the cheek, she smiled, Raymond stared at them, their love was almost believable

"I think we should dance...baby"Jess was saying to him 

"Yeah.." Raymond said and dropped his drink"but I need to use the bathroom"he said and walked away, when he came out he saw Isabel and his brother making out, he stared at them as he realised with a gut wrenching feeling that he wanted his brother's girlfriend.

*yeah he finally admitted it...
