Levi.

My phone rings and I turn around to get it from the night stand, I mutter into it sleepily.

"Yeah?"

"It's morning, Levi Carter, I want to see you" I almost sigh in frustration, it's Mrs Carter.

"Good morning ma,"

"Young man, I don't think I'm your ma, you treat me like horse sh*t boy"

"You said a curse word ma" I say, all the sleep cleared from my voice now, I slip out of bed so I don't disturb Addie.

"Come home Levi" She says with finality.

"Yes ma" I say, I know I won't be able to escape this time, and also it's time I let her know of my plans, she doesn't have to worry about me getting a wife anymore.

I disconnect the phone and turn to pad to the bed, Addie's sitting up, she raises her head with a smile.

"Good morning kiss babe" I say to her and she closes the distance between us.

I kiss her slowly and she sighs into my mouth, her hand come to my chest and I break off, wincing.

She immediately notices.

"What's wrong?" She asks in concern. I shake my head and she frowns, her hands already undoing the buttons in my sleeve.

She gasps when she sees the red flesh, her eyes fills with tears, that is so not the reaction I expected.

. You sweet man" She sobs and I pull her head to me.

"You okay baby?"

"You got a tattoo of my name on your body"

"It's yours, the body, you own it, I had to make it official"

"And I didn't know, I even acted like a brat.."

"Hey.. Hey... That's enough, it's enough.." She nods and pulls back to look at it again, she bends her head and gently kisses the area around the black ink.

"I love you "She says simply and I nod.

"I love you too, baby" She beams.

"I have to go somewhere, will be back soon " I tell her, I don't want a repeat of yesterday, I have to check in with her. Already programmed my number into her phone.

She nods, still staring at my chest.

"Honey! I'm home " I say dramatically as I step in the foyer of my parents home, I'm sure they heard my car pull up.

"No need to shout you idiot, we are old not deaf" Mrs Carter says and I nod, bending to kiss her cheek.

"I missed you ma" I say softly and her face melts.

"I missed you too baby" She says and I smile, looking around for my father.

"Where's Pa?"

"Right here, right here" He walks in, holding a small cat and I roll my eyes.

"Where did you get that fuzz ball?" I ask him and he pet's the thing.

"On our trip, it's pretty isn't it?" Mrs Carter says and I acquiesce, it will be useless not to.

"So.., You did a good job of making me worry whilst you were on your trip to London" She says and I sit down on the couch, ready for whatever they are going to dish out.

"I'm sorry, it was impromptu" I say, the ever loving son.

"Well.. That's that, who is the girl you were with? I take it it's that girl.... The one.. The housekeeper"

I knew this was were she was coming to eventually, it's obvious she didn't see the face of Addie because she would have realized it's her, but what's this housekeeper thing?

"What housekeeper?"

"The last time I was there, there was a girl, Aaron said she was an housekeeper, your housekeeper" She says and I frown. Before I can speak she continues. 

"You really have to stop this Levi, you are hurting me with your actions, I thought we agreed you would get to know Adélie better?"

I think there's been a misunderstanding.

"Mom, the girl, the one I was kissing in the picture was Adélie, I don't know about any housekeeper"

She frowns. Her face showing her disappointment in me.

"I didn't know you had it in you to be deceitful Levi, all you had to do was say no, you didn't have to lie" She says sounding wounded.

"Mom, I don't understand"

She shakes her head.

"When your sister died, you were all I had, I wanted the best for you, i still do, I Know you don't date and that's why I went out of my way to introduce you to Adélie, I thought you would understand since that happened to her, you had that mysterious girl to help you but she had no one"

That's when it hits me. All those times, all those feelings I got that she was going to leave me, it all hits me. 

She was never mine in the first place. 

"Mom, I have to go " I say to Mrs Carter grabbing my keys as I exit. 

Her signature.. I have to confirm.. It can't be. 

She loves me right? She couldn't have deceived me this bad, right? 

I hear Mrs Carter calling for me but I don't turn. 

Sh*t.

Adeline. 

I stand in front of the restaurant as I wait for Pam's. 

She was supposed to be here with a bag for me, we already made plans that I will be leaving Levi's tomorrow, she was supposed to be here with my savings and clothes. 

I turn around again to look, I'm scared that I have to be here in the open. 

What if I get caught by James or one of his cronies? 

Where is Pamela? 

I feel a tap on my shoulder and I startle. 

I turn around to see a guy in a chef outfit standing there. 

"You think you escaped right?" 

"What?" I ask in fear. 

"You get back in there and sit your ass,you don't get to drop a bomb like that and skedaddle" 

"I'm sorry, do I know you?" I ask slowly and he frowns taking a step back, looking me over before looking into my eyes. 

"Who in the f*ck are you?" He growls, his nose ring nose catching the light. 

A gasp behind him gets us to turn and standing there is me, but not me. 

She looks too clean, too put together, too innocent, too young and fresh-faced. 

I take a step back, she takes one forward, her hands outstretched. 

I stumble back. 

"Ad.. Addie?" She whispers and I freeze as memories rip through my skull. I gasp 

I stumble back and turn to run but her voice cries out. 

"Adeline!!" 

it takes everything In me not to turn and stop. 

I hear the man telling her to 'calm down cat', she is crying and I want to console her, an inbred need in me wants to respond to her command but I have to run. 

I can't let those demons catch me.
