Pregnant?? "No am not pregnant", this were the exact words of Rose to her mother and those that noticed the changes in her behaviour. Her widow mother who was a trader took her round their small village in Rivers State meeting with different groups of elders for them to plead with her daughter who was 18years to confess if she was pregnant but she still denied it.
At some point she was giving breathing space but it was done on her when she could not hide the pregnancy any longer. The baby bumps answered all the questions that required answers . Rose only had to tell them who was responsible for the pregnancy which she did with head bowed down because she has dissapointed many people that had so much confidence in her and used her as a model that their children should emulate because of her homely and academic qualities coupled with her beauty.
Dasa, Rose mother could not send her out because she was a victim of same circumstances and in her words "children are gift from God and no one knows tomorrow", even though she was an hardened traditional faithful.
Uti who impregnated Rose came with his people to ask for her hand in marriage so that she can give birth under his watch. His proposal was turned down by her mother even though Rose loved him, the reason being that she wants to further her education and Uti a bicycle repairer was not man enough to take of her talk much of the awaiting addition

At exactly 9 months she put to bed of a bouncing baby boy at the early hours of May 17,1995. The boy was fair in complexion that made people tag him Oyinbo( Foreigner) because her mom was popularly known as Ngbocha( white woman) because of the colour of her skin. The baby was named Jason Chukwuka Akugo.
Rose left Jason in the village with her mum after a year to go hustle and further her education but she got pregnant in the process.
