Tomorrow - Episode 8
Uncle Uche called Jason a day before his departure to have some words with him. He told him to always follow Martha's instructions. Jason just sat down nodding to all what his Uncle was saying. The following morning his uncle left.
During the first weekend in August 2007 after Uche had gone to school, Uncle Charles came in from Kano. He was happy to see Jason in his family
. He bought many goodies for everyone, knowing fully well that his children were on vacation, he got them bicycles. One for each of his children, he even teased Jason that this small bicycles are not for his mates that Jason has ridden bigger ones in the village. He was amazed at Jason's spoken English, he asked whether it was the few months he had spent with them that it's changed or how come?
Jason responded that they were taught in English in their village school although sometimes their teachers used their language to portray their points.
OK that's good meaning we are progressing in our education at home said Uncle Charles.
The house was bubbling due to the presence of the number one person of the house, at least let them enjoy it while it lasts because they knew that the following morning he will be on his way back to Kano.
Martha treated Jason like her son during this few days that her husband was at home. It got Jason thinking what really she was up to whether it was a scenario of treating you well before punishment

. This was one of the technique used by one of his friends mother in the village, once she gets you a plate of Rice with soft drinks to top it, just know that you are in a big trouble.
His uncle travelled back to Kano, everything got back to normal.
Jason! Jason! Jason it's 6am and you are still sleeping, haven't I told you to always wake up by 5am to clean up the house before every other person wakes up. Jason came out with sleepy eyes, before he could utter a word slap landed on his face. Then it down on him that the real woman she has heard about has came out. With tears in his eyes he picked up the broom and started sweeping, after which he mopped. Jason's was deprived of breakfast and lunch that day for failing to be up early.
Jason was in charge of washing clothes,dishes,toilets, fetching water, and ensuring that her children had their bath in the morning before eating even though she was an house wife.
Martha will sleep and wake up everyday complaining that the house was not either swept or properly mopped. She will cause him from head to toe in Yoruba language. Jason was easily swayed away by words, he would rather prefer beating to speaking abusive words to him.
After every day before he sleeps, he would replay all she had said to him and soaked his pillow with tears asking God why him.
The next morning he would encourage himself and face the day's work, he had told himself that he can't remain there forever that it's just a matter of time and "Tomorrow will come".
Nothing he does impressed Madam Martha, when his children does anything wrong at home when she was not around, by the time she comes back Jason will take all the blame.
Her children Precious who was 8yrs, Blessing 7yrs and Ugo 5yrs sometimes pleaded guilty to some offenses but she will shut them up that Jason was responsible.
One particular day Jason was asked whether he had swept the corridor which he said yes, she went in there to inspect it and found out that there were still dust in there, forgotten that there was an heavy storm earlier that morning, she called Jason to come and show her where he claimed he swept, Jason came and two slaps again on his face. Jason fell to floor unconscious gasping for breath.
