it was resumption day and everybody seemed so excited
'Hey amara who's the new guy'i asked my friend as i walk behind her
"i wonder,i hope he is in our class"
i laughed
"why?"
"because he's cute and a new student would be fun"
"yea..i concur"
We had just finished morning assembly and were matching to our various
classes when i noticed him..He is really goodlooking..tall, fair and
slim but not skinny. I have a feeling this is the start of my very
first crush!
Getting to the class, everybody kept talking about how they spent
their holiday..i walked over to a group standing and chatting about
the holiday pool party our class organised during the holidays at the
swimming pool of the newly opened hotel by our school which i wasn't
able to attend . My class always find excuses to throw parties and as
many of them were from rich homes, they always did.
Feeling left out because i didn't have anything to contribute and
because i didn't want to talk about my holiday, i walked away. My baby
sister, olivia was sick through out the holiday and i had to look
after her because my mom wouldn't

She wasn't like this seven years ago when my dad was still with us.
She had been attentive and caring. She was my role model. But as soon
as my dad abandoned us for another woman, she changed. She started
drinking, smoking and flirting around town.

pregnant with olivia. She doesn't even know who her father is and she
doesn't even care about the little girl. Now, am the one doing her
motherly duties. I take care of olivia and i am not complaining,
because she is the most well behaved and adorable five years old child
i have ever seen. I love her so much and i can do anything for her.
So missing a high school party to take care of her wasn't a big
sacrifice for me. I just hope my mom comes to her senses and see what
she is missing by not giving olivia the love she deserves.
My dad's disappearance didn't affect me like my mom. It just made me
more determined to succeed, so nobody would abandon me ever again.
I walked to my desk to get ready for the class. Noticing that the
class had gotten quiet, i turned hoping to see a teacher had walked in
but instead i see the new guy at the front of the class. He looked
lost and everybody was just staring at him. He didn't seem to mind
that every body's eyes were on him. He just looked around as if
searching for someone, till he met my eyes and that was when i felt
the tingles.
He was watching me intently and that was when i understood what
romance novel writers meant about butterflies dancing in your stomach.
My stomach felt warm and i straightened as i saw him walk towards me.
