The Twist - Episode 40
Mark drove like a mad man to the hospital.
He blew his horn continuously as he swept past the taxi drivers and trucks.
He was baffled when he saw the number of police cars roaming the road.
He spotted the police helicopter a couple of times and wondered if the president is visiting the state.
To hell with the politicians! He drove on, praying the policemen won't stop him for speeding.
On reaching the Hospital, he entered the big building and enquired about his daughter in the reception desk.
He was shown into the theatre where the doctor just finished stitching his daughter's head.
Ruby was standing near the door when Mark entered.
"What happened?"
"I don't really know. There was a terrible shooting going on . I came out and saw Chidimma on the road bleeding. Bashir instructed me to take her to the hospital and move after the men"
Ruby explained.
"What shootings? Why would Bashir abandoned his duty post to pursue robbers?"
Ruby shrugged and bent her head.
The doctor turned and removed his gloves.
"Are you the father?"
"Yes doctor, how is she? Was she shot?"
"No, but he has a nasty injury on her head and she lost a lot of blood. She will need a blood transfer as quickly as possible so we can commence with our treatment"
The doctor said and Mark went to where his daughter was lying down.
She looked tired and weak with her bandaged head

"Well doctor I am here now, can we start please?"
"Come to the laboratory so we can carry out the blood test"
The doctor led Mark out of the room and instructed the nurse in charge to take the child to a special ward.
"Doctor I want you to do your best. She is my only child. Money is not the problem. Just save her"
Mark was saying as they moved to the laboratory.
From Dr.Uche 's POV.
Dr. Uche was about to study and X-ray result his radiologist brought to his office a few hours ago when he heard a phone ringing.
He looked around and saw Mark's phone on the thick rug that covered the floor.
He examined the anonymous caller and decided not to pick it.
Mark can always come back for his phone.
He wanted to concentrate on his work but the constant ringing of the phone made him to change his mind.
He decided to take the phone to Mark in the hospital where his daughter was admitted.
Who ever that is calling has something important to tell Mark.
He pulled out the hospital lists from his drawer and scanned through the number of hospitals located in the area.
He tried the number of the first hospital and was lucky.
The nurse told him Mark arrived there a few minutes ago.
She gave him their address and Dr. Uche picked his car key with Mark's phone and walked out of his office.
He told his nurse to conceal his appointments for the next two hours and made immediate arrangement for his night shift.
He will be coming back in the evening to attend to the patients.
He entered his Nissan Pathfinder SUV and drove out of the hospital garage....
