The Twist - Episode 25

 

Mark was heading to the building site.

The new site was located in the outskirt of Lagos and Mark have a 30 minutes drive to think about his present situation before he reach the site.

He tried his wife number again but her phone was still off.

Where the hell is Amaka? What has she done with the pictures? Did she tore them into shreds or has she kept it for future use? Mark pondered this over and over again in his mind.

He logged into his social media accounts and check on her Status.

Her instagram showed she was last seen online 21 hours ago.

Her Facebook account revealed the same thing.

Which means She was online last around 7pm last night.

He was about to text her when he looked at the rear view mirror and noticed that a black Toyota car was tailing him.

He had featured in so many action movies in Nollywood action series to know when a car is being followed.

He slowly increased speed and the Toyota began to gain on him.

In front of him was a big Kawasaki power bike with two passengers.

He overtook the power bike, likewise the Toyota and the power bike equally increased speed.

Well, his All Wheel Drive Range Rover Sport was built for speed.

Let's see how long the Toyota car will keep on his tail.

He maintained the car speed until he reached the open expressway that lead to the outskirt of Lagos.

Ahead of him was a long stretch of open highway.

He suddenly adjusted the gear lever to 2D and press on the gas pedal.

The SUV surged forward; tearing through the road like a possessed bat and within seconds Mark could no longer see the Toyota or the power bike.

He was an expert driver and pride himself on it when shooting action movies. The speedometer was clocking 160 km/pH.

The car seemed to be zipping through the air.

With a grin, he glanced at the side mirror and the smile froze on his face.

He was shocked to see the Toyota and the power bike behind him.

Who are they? Robbers? Kidnappers? He raced on and keep on looking at the rear view mirror.

A few kilometers away was an old paper mill and behind it was a small village market.

An old track road by the market led to the custom quarters.

Mark knew the custom quarter had sentries and tower securities.

He will divert to the road leading to the paper mill and led them into the small village, then down to the custom quarters.

He knew once he reach the custom quarters he is safe from his pursuers.

The Toyota was blinking its head lamps for him to stop.

Mark have seen such trick before.

To gain on him, corner him and box him in with the bike and car on either side of the road.

He was approaching the road leading to the paper mill when the power bike swerved and overtook him with a thundering noise.

His heart hammering against his ribs, Mark applied the break, swung the car to the left, skidded Off the road and jumped into the other lane.

From the corner of his eyes, he saw the Toyota sped past him, trying in vain to control its speed.

It spun around with squealing of tyres and rammed its front into a fence off the road.

Mark controlled the SUV into the opposite lane, the power bike suddenly jumped into the lane and appeared in front of him.

The boy sitting on the passenger's seat jumped down from the bike and removed his helmet.

Mark saw the vicious face of Jack and his heart did a somersault.

He adjusted the gear to R and began to reverse back.

He heard a bang and out of fear applied the break with his head bent low.

He thought the occupants of the bike was shooting at him.

He looked up, the figure in front of him was on the ground clutching his leg and whimpering like a kid.

The bike rider swung the bike with revving engine to escape but another gunshot lifted the rider off the power bike and tossed him into the gutter.

Panic stricken, Mark looked around for the shooter.
