The Missionary's Journey - Episode 7
The next day at school, Gabriel went to school a little livelier and refreshed, very eager to meet Ifeyinwa again. He hummed a song as he walked to school. He was about to enter his classroom, when he saw Ifeyinwa at the entrance, leaning against the door.
"Why is this one smiling? Don’t you know that you are late," she smiled and said to herself, rolled her eyes at him.
"Oh so you were waiting for me, isn’t that sweet?" Gabriel smiled and said, getting close to her.
"Ah, see this one o, don’t flatter yourself, I just happened to be here when you arrived. Hmm, this one you seem happy this morning, what happened?"
He leaned close to her and whispered into her ear, "don’t tell anyone but I made a friend yesterday, one yeye girl like that she seems nice."
"Really? I am happy for you o, so our damsel in distress has finally seen his prince charming," she jested.
"Wait, what, who is the damsel? You can be infuriating at times," Gabriel frowned.
"It’s part of my charm," she said back . "Now go to your class, see you later." She turned to leave.
"Umm..wait so does this mean you will be free and meet up during break?"
"Err, we will see," he replied.
Ifeyinwa walked into her class. Gabriel walked into his class, and all eyes were on him.

. He could hear the whispers that passed between the students. They were talking about him and Ifeyinwa. He held his head high and grinned.
He didn't care about what they were talking about. They could gossip for all they care. He walked to his desk and sat down with the other students as they waited for the teacher to arrive. He had a friend and he was glad.
For several weeks, Gabriel and Ifeyinwa spent much of their time together, ate lunch, played together and walked home together. People began to assume they were dating each other, even his sister talked about her one night during family dinner.
"Who is the girl that you are always walking with? You guys are the hottest topic in school," she said as she leaned forward expecting a gist.
"She is just my friend. Is it wrong to have female friends?" he scowled at her.
"Naso, what will you say before. I am happy that you have found a friend unlike before where you will carry your big head walking alone and looking gloomy."
Gabriel hissed at her, "It’s like you have nothing to do abi."
"Don’t shout at me o," she shot back. "Small small with her sha before we hear story."
"Hey, I told you nothing is going on, okay," he responded.
His parents smiled. "Anita, leave your brother alone and eat your food before it gets cold," Mrs Onyinmadu said.
