In the night, under the glare of a full moon, seven birds landed on top of a tree and flew down to its trunk. They transformed into four women and three men. All of them had evil glares and all were naked. Eyes wide open with their eyes completely black. They formed a circle and began to whisper amongst themselves.

"This preacher is seriously causing issues for us," a fat woman said.

"You are right, there is a force with that man threatening our authority in his village," a pot bellied man replied.

"I thought I was the only one that noticed. The other night, I went to Mr Azikwe’s house to drink some of his blood and suck out his life force as his spirit wife but I wasn’t able to enter his house.

. Instead I heard flapping of wings and I felt afraid for no reason, fear came from nowhere, I suddenly knew that I had to get away immediately and that was what I did. Since then I have not been able to enter his house," a fair woman narrated.

"You mean Mr Azikwe, that drunkard, that arrogant fool. You had problems with him? Hahaha, you must be joking," a short man laughed.

"I heard Mr Azikwe has been attending that preacher’s church for a while now and that he has stopped drinking

. I have not seen him in my bar for some time now. Before, he comes to buy drinks as in lots of bottles from my shop and I watch him as he drinks. You know everyone is addicted to my bar, I serve pepper soup mixed with my blood and drinks diluted with my special ingredients but lately Mr Azikwe hasn’t visited my bar. I was beginning to worry, he used to be my biggest customer and I enjoyed using his glory, not that it was anything great to begin with sef," the fat woman reported.

"Hmm, this is serious. I heard from Madam Dorcas that she was unable to enter Mummy Chima’s house too and also heard the flapping of wings and the sudden urge to run. I don’t understand what is going on," a lanky man said.

"I don’t know about those sounds of flapping wings but I do know all these started because of that man, that preacher," a short woman with a birthmark on her forehead said.

"Do we have to alert the high priest," the fair woman asked.

"No, we can handle this situation by ourselves," an old woman with grey hair called.

"Isn’t Ifeyinwa close to the boy, the preacher’s son, let us use him," the short man said.

"You know we can’t, we can’t do anything like that until the High Priest approves. Let us attack the preacher together, he won’t be able to stand against us," the fat woman said.

"Yes you are right. Who are we?" the grey haired woman shouted.

"The Eaters of flesh," they all responded.

"Who are we?" the fair woman shouted.

"The drinkers of blood, the ones who soar the sky under the cover of darkness spreading chaos and despair," they responded.

"Who do we serve?" the pot bellied man shouted.

"The gods of our ancestors," they bowed, "and Ekwensu, the great one."

They transformed into birds and flew away.
