Maya;

"Thanks for helping me Maya." Rose says with an appreciative smile and I nod. The intimate moment I think I saw earlier is still playing in my head but I keep reminding myself that she's hurt and Derrick is just being a good brother in law.
I hold her up as she does her business.
"Thanks. You should wash your hands over here." She says once she's done and I don't argue as she pulls me gently to the tap . I absentmindedly wash my hands off and wipe it off with some wipes.
"I'm sorry about the scene you walked into earlier." She says softly and blush. I just shake my head.
"Oh. You are hurt. Derrick was really worried. We all were. We are just glad you are okay now."
"Oh Derrick. He is always worrying about me. Even after I rejected him for his brother." My heart drops along with these words.
"What?"
"Oh. I'm sorry. He didn't tell you? I shouldn't have said anything! Stupid stupid Rose." She hit her mouth several times but I'm too curious now to let her stop talking.
"What do you mean by you rejected him for his brother?"
"Never mind Maya. He'll tell you when he's ready

. I mean, it can't be easy on him seeing as he's loved me since we were kids." She says. She must have noticed my look of shock because she suddenly clamp her mouth shut.
"You shouldn't worry. You guys are married right? Moreover, I'm tied to his brother even though it's against my will." She continues.
This can't be true! Different thoughts are now passing through my mind. Why didn't Derrick tell me? Does he still love her? Why did he marry me then?
"Hey, Maya. Don't worry your pretty head okay. Derrick did get the company because he married and made you pregnant right? He should be grateful for your help if not anything else." She squeeze my han reassuringly but these last words only serve to devastate me the more.
Did Derrick marry me for the company?! No. That can't be. He said he loves me. *how can he love you in just few days then ask to marry him?* my mind scream at me.
"No." I whisper as the restroom starts spinning.
"Hey! Are you okay?" I stagger back but weak hands manage to keep me from falling to the ground.
"What's happening? Are you okay?" Rose's voice sounds so far away as black spots assault my vision.
"What happened?! What did you do to her?!" Derrick's panicked voice filter into my ears as I feel my body bundled into strong familiar arms.
"Baby are you okay!?! Sweet girl, please open your eyes. Can you hear me baby? Please say something!" He rambles on as he carries me out of the restroom. I can't seem to lift my eyelids though.

Derrick:

"If something like this happens again, you might lose your baby. She's pregnant so minimize her stress. No bad news or anything that would put her in shock. Do you understand?" I nod quietly at the doctor.
" I'm going to put her on bed rest for a few weeks to avoid any complications. She should wake up once the medications wear off. Then she can be discharged tomorrow" She says then walk out of the room.
"I'm sorry Derry. I didn't mean for this to happen." Rose who has been standing beside me for a while now says quietly and I sigh.
"What happened?" I ask while staring down at my sweet girl who's lying motionless on the bed with her hand flat on her stomach. Even in her state, she's being a mother to our baby.
"I don't know. She was asking what that hug she saw was all about. I was trying to explain that it was nothing but she just started hyperventilating and that was when you came in." I sigh deeply. Today has been nothing but a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
I still can't wrap my head around the fact that Rose might not have betrayed me but was forced to do it by my own brother. I just need Nelson to wake up so I can know the truth of it all. *and then what, derrick?* my mind ask me. I have a pregnant wife lying on a hospital bed who I can't bring myself to hurt. On the other hand is a woman I loved for most of my life who I might have betrayed by letting my brother threaten and torture while I married someone else. What do I do with such a situation? Confusion doesn't quite explain how I am right now.
Maya takes in a deep breath in her sleep and I watch as her pretty lips open slightly to let out the breath. Everything about this woman fascinates me. I take her fragile hand from her stomach and entwine my fingers in hers before placing it back on her stomach.
"It's going to be okay." Rose says then rest her chin on my head as she hug my sitting form from behind. There's no spark like there is with Maya. Even now when she isn't conscious, holding her hand ignites sparks that coil my toes in pleasure.
"You are so tense." Rose continues as she massage my shoulder softly with her left hand. My eyes flutter close as she loosen the knots in my shoulder.
"That's it. Relax for me." She coos
"Derrick?" My eyes fly open at Maya's soft calling.
"Baby. Thank God. You're awake. I've been so worried. Are you okay? Does anything hurt?" I ramble on. Maya's eyes are focused on something else though. They are on Rose's hands on my shoulder. I quickly jerk off my seat and move away from Rose. I watch Rose's face fall before she sigh.
"I'm sorry if I did anything uncalled for Maya. Hope you get well soon. I should take my leave now." I catch a glint of tears in her eyes as she walks out of the room and close the door behind her.

Maya:

  Uncomfortable silence fall on the room as the door close behind Rose. I just stare at Derrick, trying to decipher if he could be hiding something from me. He looks uncomfortable as hell and for a moment, I'm tempted to yell at him to tell me the truth but can I take it? I sigh deeply and he's by my side in minutes.
"Hey. Are you okay? Does anything hurt?" He asks again. I want to tell him that my heart does but I just such deeply again. I see his shoulders droop.
"I'm sorry."  He says but then for what? What are you sorry for?
"That hug wasn't what it looked like okay? She was crying. I was just consoling her.

. I swear it meant nothing to me." He says. I want to believe him. Really, I do but did he marry me for the company? That's the worst thing he can tell me right now. I don't want to hear more so I start getting up from the bed
"What are you doing?"
"Take me home Derrick."
"But the doctor insisted you remain here till tomorrow. And I--"
"Please." I interrupt his rambling with a soft touch of my palm on his forearm. His eyes meet mine and he gives in.
"Fine. But I'm carrying you though. No arguments." As soon as he finishes the statement, I'm swept off my feet and I gladly rest my head against his chest an listen to his steady heartbeat.
  The room door opens before we reach it and a confused nurse narrow her eyes at us
"Where are you taking her?!" She screech.
"Home." Derrick growls flatly and continue to walk pass her out of the door.
"The doctor said we can't discharge her till tomorrow. Bring her back here!" She yell after us. Derrick looks down at my face and I shake my head.
"I'll take care of my woman in our home." He states and doesn't stop for anyone. My heart feels heavy.
I'm his woman right? He does love me right? He won't leave my baby and I right?
