The Emerald Chase - Episode 38

 

*Elvis knew he couldn't hide it any longer.. Sooner or later, he will still find out anyway...

"I took this pictures out of a video my parents left before they died.. My parents and two siblings were murdered because of this same evidence...by your dad... Your dad killed them to keep their mouths shut after they refused to give him the evidence incriminating him.."

"Say that again??"

Darren's mouth drops open in utter shock and dismay.

He clenched his fists in anger as he stared at the scattered pictures on the table, a pang of fear lingering in his heart.

"Stone!!! Tyrone!!!!!"

He yells louder than necessary In a few seconds, they rushed into the study

"Yes Sir"

"Who delivered these pictures?"

He questioned pointing to the scattered pictures and large brown envelope

"A delivery man sir. It arrived early this morning"

Stone answers..

"Do you know what this means? Huh? Those kids I asked you to search for all these years had probably sent this to warn me . Now listen with rapt attention, find out the particular delivery company from where these pictures were brought... If you have to go to all the delivery company's in this country then do it.

He orders and they nod before rushing out..

"Relax girlfriend. He's probably stuck in traffic"

Tonia says as she watched her friend pace about in the hospital ward anxiously

"It's been more than an hour since he left. He was going to get me chocolates and flowers to propose but..."

"Wait!! Did you say propose? I thought you said he had gone to change clothes"

Tonia raises an eyebrow

"Oh did I say that? Umm well... He....He.... He..."

"Okay now stop stammering.... If he were to walk right through that door and propose, will you say yes?"

"I wouldn't think twice Tonia..."

She blushes

"Aww come here and give me a hug you cute little bunny"

Tonia pouts pulling Emerald into a hug

"I would have said yes to Darren if you had refused"

She whispers

"And what about Steven?"

"Haven't you heard that variety is the spice of life?"

"You're crazy"

She chuckles

"I love you too"

ELVIS' APARTMENT..

"We're here now. Will you start talking?"

Darren demands as soon as they step inside the apartment

"I really don't want you involved. This is between my sister and I"

"Well I'm already involved especially because it has to do with my mother's death so start talking!!"

"Fine!!"

Elvis lifts both arms in the air and goes to bring his laptop..

"But remember one thing. I'm still going to make sure you father pays for ruining my life"

He turns the laptop on and places it on the glass table.. Soon, a video began playing. It was the second CD they had found in the safe at the bank.

Two men in their early thirties were seen arguing In a warehouse.

"I said no Benson!! No!"

Benjamin Arthur, Elvis and Emerald's father screamed at his friend

"We are business partners and friends. Are you really going to report me to the police?"

Chief Benson questions.

"Yes. I can't believe you have been dealing in drugs under the pretence of shipping goods. And you want me to sign that deal with you? No way!!! It's either you terminate this drug dealings or I report you"

"Are you threatening me Ben?"

"Just take it as a warning. Try to understand, this is illegal. Think of your wife, and your little son. Please! She..."

"My wife came to talk you about this? My business?"

Benson asked unbelievably

"Yes. And for her sake please mend your ways"

"Damn it!! I need to go.. And to you Ben, don't even think of reporting me to the police else.. You will see my rotten side"

"Are you threatening me Benson?"

"More like an advice"

and he walked out on him.

Elvis pauses the video and turns to Darren who was having a hardtime digesting everything

"You see that man? He was my father...

"This is absurd!! I mean.."

"Don't speak Darren... Just watch this"

Elvis interrupts and presses on next... A different video comes into view and they could see a man who's back was turned to the camera and a pretty fair woman talking in muted voices. There was a little boy asleep in the room..

Darren recognized the woman immediately as his mother and she seemed to be arguing with his father.

She was holding out a tiny plastic rubber which contained a powdery substance...

She made to walk away when the man pulled her back... The struggled continued until the man grabbed a knife from the nearby table and slit her throat..

Darren shut the laptop immediately and threw it onto the couch, his breath hitching..

"This is nonsense!! This isn't true!! My father may be insensitive, cold, unloving and many other things but he is not a murderer.. He would never kill his own wife, my mother. No!!"

He screams trying hard to believe his words.

Suddenly his head began to ache... He began to get flashes. The images of that night flashing in his head.

Why was he remembering it now? Why hasn't he remembered all these years.. What was happening? Another pain courses through his head and he groans again...
