She Did It - Episode 10

Next morning, Detective John was in his office as usual. He had been able to take down the report he got from Dominique. He boiled water with an electric kettle in his office and made a coffee which he drank slowly as he stared at some documents. 

While having his coffee and looking at some of the files, there was a knock on the door twice. It was Bolanle. 

"Good day and welcome", John said.

"Good day", Bolanle replied.

"Care for a coffee?", John asked.

"Yes", Bolanle said. John handed the kettle of hot water and a cup of coffee over to her. She scooped a spoon of coffee, and poured it in a ceramic cup, filled with hot water as she stared briskly.

"So, any latest development?", Bolanle asked. Detective John handed an A-4 paper he had used pen to write on to her. After Bolanle had finished reading it.

"I think this is somehow clear enough", Bolanle said. John nodded.

"Someone can be pushed to her limit", Bolanle said again.

"But what will a girl like that be doing with a gun? She could have used any other kitchen equipments. That's what most ladies that are abused, lastly resort to", John replied.

"You have a point. But how possible could she have been able to dispose the body that faraway except she connived with strong hearted people?", Bolanle queried rhetorically.

. She is a popular Lagos big girl who is into fashion", John said. He handed his phone to Bolanle. 

"Take a look. I was able to figure her instagram ID from her name with her phone number", John said. "That's her friends", John continued. Bolanle stared and visited various pages of Sheila's friend.

"These are big girls. A lawyer working in a big firm and not so known TV presenter in a big TV station" Bolanle said. "I don't think these girls will have the morale to help her friends to dispose the body in a faraway village except they are an accomplice. And the Barrister will know the rudiments that implicate one in a crime", Bolanle said.

"Hmmm", John made a sound. Bolanle stood and told him that she has an idea but she needs to plan more to execute it. She left immediately. Some thoughts started racing through John's mind.

Sheila drove Bimpe to the grocery outlet. After about forty minutes, they were done shopping and paid for everything. Instead of the road leading to her house, she reversed to another road leading to Coker's house. She got to the gate, honked and the gateman opened the gate. She gave Bimpe her phone since she didn't want to follow her in.

"Good evening", Sheila said after she had checked her wristwatch and it was 4:00pm on the dot.

. Dominique was arranging the dining table. Dominique gave her a frowned face, which she noticed before she could fake a friendly one.

"Welcome, Sheila", Dominique came and gave her a hug. Sheila felt uncomfortable.

"Where is mum and dad?", Sheila asked.

"They are in", Dominique said. The parlour looked scanty and the family portrait that hung on the wall, swung left and right slowly by the effect of the hanging fan that blew so well. In less than ten minutes, Mr and Mrs Coker entered the room.

"Welcome, my daughter", Mrs Coker hugged Sheila by the neck as she made attempt to stand up. She led her to the dining table.

Meanwhile, outside the compound, Sheila's phone was ringing. The number calling wasn't saved, but Bimpe picked it.

"Hello", Bimpe said.

"Hello, young woman Sheila, I have a proof that you murdered Rowland", the voice said. Bimpe laughed in her mind, she had detected what was happening.

"Murdered who? The boyfriend I love? Please, get off this line", Bimpe said with a fake cry. The call ended immediately. She knew who it was already coupled by the truecaller help, and laughed briskly in her mind.

At the dining table, Mr and Mrs Coker told Sheila about the detective who is paid and is helping them to get details of who killed Rowland. She thanked them, and it reassured Dominique more that it was not Sheila that murdered her brother.
