She Did It - Episode 16

As Wale entered, Bolanle smiled at him.

"Who are they?", Bolanle said with a smile.

"Madam Sheila with her friends. The one that's same height with her is Bimpe", Wale said.

"Oh, I see!", Bolanle replied and nodded her head.

"So, you have not told me why you came here?", Wale queried.

"You love me abi?", Bolanle asked with a mischievous face.

"Yes!", Wale replied quickly.

"Nice, I'm a detective, by the name Bolanle and I'm here to get some things which will help me in gathering some evidence", Bolanle said immediately, and stood. She commanded so much agility as she stood. Wale freaked out.

"You mean you are a police?. Never seen a fine policewoman like this", Wale said.

"I'm not really a police. But you get the gist", Bolanle replied and bent below facing Wale who was sitting on a sofa. Wale shrugged off his face and stood.

"So, how can I help you?", Wale asked.

"Do you know Mr. Rowland Coker?", Bolanle asked.

"I don't know that one, but I know one oga Rowland that paraded as Madam Sheila's boyfriend. He was generous and gave me money on daily basis", Wale said.

"Hmm! Nice", Bolanle made a 'humming' sound

. She continued asking, "when did you see him last?".

"I don't know. Its been long", Wale replied.

"You know he is dead?", Bolanle said, sat down and bowed her head. Wale came closer. "You say what?", he asked with a mixed feeling.

"What you heard", Bolanle replied with her face upward. She continued, "do you know the last time he came here?".

"I can't remember", Wale said.

"But can you remember if Sheila ever drove at an odd hour? Anytime?", Bolanle asked. She figured that anyone who committed the murder definitely disposed the body in the night.

"Yesterday", he replied.

"Yesterday?", she asked devastated.

"Yes, these ladies go to parties virtually everyday", he said. "But.....", he blurted out.

"But what?", she asked.

"But, there was a day, they came back looking sad the following morning", he said.

"Can you remember the activity that went on the day before that day", he asked.

"Yes, I know. Oga Rowland came to visit her, about thirty minutes, a well built man came and said he was looking for Sheila. He looked familiar, but I can't remember where I saw the face before", he said.

"I think I'm getting into the root of this matter", Bolanle said inwardly..

"But wait, what are you going to give me for this information I'm giving out?", Wale asked. Bolanle counted five thousand naira from her purse, and handed it over to him.

"Wow! Thank you Ma. Ask more. I'm ready to answer", Wale said.

"What happened later?. Can you go on, please", Bolanle said.

"I saw him came out later, a few minute after, Bimpe entered. She was being nice which was unusual but after that day, I thought she had changed but reversed to her rudeness. As she was trying to be nice, their third friend Tola entered. She ignored me and left for Sheila's apartment with her", he said.

"Good. Do you remember what happened after?", Bolanle queried.

"They went for their usual party that night. When they came back, I opened the gate for them and came back to this my room because I was tired. I saw Sheila in the morning and she looked sullen", Wale said.

. Meanwhile, Bolanle put her sound recorder on, but it wasn't recording and she didn't know. Bimpe was tired and had left Sheila's apartment to return to her house. Unlikely, she didn't see Wale at the gate, but overheard him having discussions with somebody. She went to the back of the gateman's boy squatter which had a window, bent low and was eaves dropping. She heard Wale's last statement and bit her index finger.

"This is getting interesting", Bolanle said. She continued, "Can you describe the man for me?".

"He is hefty, he has moustache and bald hair. Dark in complexioned", Wale said. Bolanle thanked him and left. After she had left, ignited her car engine and zoomed off, Bimpe came out and pretended she hadn't heard anything. She made an eye contact with Wale, which he removed his eyes. She opened the gate and left.
