"Yes, he beat her", Dominique said.

"How did you know?", John asked.

"I just finished from the University and completed my NYSC. Before that, I often visit and stay with Aunt Sheila because my Mum is strict and hardly allowed me to do whatever I want to", Dominique said and paused.

"Continue please", John said.

She continued, "As usual, I was on break and visited Sheila . I went out to buy ingredients which I'd use to cook. When I came back, I saw my brother beating Sheila".

"Afterwards, I advised her to leave my brother. He smoked and took hard drugs, and when I found out, he threatened to beat me if I ever report to our daddy", Dominique said.

"And did she heed?", John asked.

"No. She loved my brother dearly as she always told me and from what I have observed, I don't think she can kill him", Dominique said.

"It's okay", John said and moved close to Dominique to console her. Dominique eyes were dropping tears in bit.

"Can I have Demilade and Sheila's number?", John asked

. She brought out her phone and called out the two numbers for him. He penned them down.

"Thank you", John said. Dominique left.

It was morning, Sheila was awake from sleep and had finished getting dressed and applying makeups. There was a knock on the door. Sheila was sitting on a sofa, trying to draw her skirt down to prevent exposing her thigh. Tola staggered from her room in a night gown and net. She was free from work today.

"Come in, the door is open", Tola said as she yawned. The door made a cracking sound and opened. Bimpe was standing at the door.

"Babes, forgive me", Bimpe begged with a fake cry. She knelt down. Tola stared at Sheila but she wasn't staring back. She was shocked at Bimpe's sudden behavior.

"You are getting me uncomfortable. I don't know why you are doing all these?", Sheila asked.

"Me too oo", Tola shouted. Bimpe hissed loudly at Tola and gave her a side eye. 

"Na you sabi", Tola said and snapped her fingers. Bimpe stood immediately.

"I am just apologising on walking out on you girls. I don't know what got all over me", Bimpe said.

"It is okay", Sheila said.

"So, what really got over you?", Tola queried.

"See girl, this is about my legal profession. Not that serious", Bimpe said. She was full of pretence.
 
"Awww. It's well", Tola said. They all conglomerated together and hugged each other.

"I will make it up for you, I'm on leave", Bimpe said to Sheila. They both bade goodbye to Tola and drove their cars to Sheila's apartment.

Sheila's apartment still looked like it was new. She pictured it so dusty because she hardly stayed at home these days. They entered the room, she put on the light switch and everywhere sparkled. She sat down, brought out her phone to check messages.

"Please, I am hungry", Bimpe said.

"I have not gone to get groceries, but I have rice and few ingredients to cook it. I will surely do that tomorrow after which I visit Mr and Mrs Coker", Sheila said. Bimpe swung her hand to show whatever suits Sheila.

. Bimpe entered the kitchen to make jollof rice, in less than an hour, her food was ready.

"Hey, babes, you are not interested in eating?", Bimpe said.

"No, I am full, and there is no appetite to heap further", Sheila said. Bimpe continued with her spoon scoops of rice until she finished it. She went to the kitchen and dished more, until she virtually finished the whole pot of rice. The pot of rice four people can finish, she ate the one meant for three at a go. Sheila entered the kitchen to get a glass cup filled with water because she was feeling dehydrated, she decided to open the pot.

"Chai! So you finished the rice?. I duff my hat for you", Sheila exclaimed. Bimpe hissed as she stood like a pregnant woman. They both sat on the sofa in the sitting room, and Sheila changed from stations to another station, until they settled for E! Entertainment currently airing, "Keeping up with the Kardashian". They watched, laughed and chatted away until Bimpe slept off. Sheila was feeling sleepy, so she stood, moved to the switch and put off the light. She put off the television, patted Bimpe, she woke up and they moved to the bedroom to sleep.
