She Did It - Episode 11

 

The next day, Bolanle walked into John's office. Not so usual, the receptionist stopped her.

"Good day, Ma'am", the receptionist said and smiled.

"Good day", Bolanle replied and continued walking. The receptionist stood immediately, and walked up to her, then tapped her at the back.

"Excuse me? Any problem?", Bolanle asked.

"Errm, not really, but oga John hasn't come to work", the receptionist said.

"Hmm, I had been trying his number to tell him about the latest development, but his number has been ringing and he wasn't picking. But let me still check inside, maybe you weren't aware when he entered", Bolanle made a sound and said.

"Even the security man knows he hasn't come because they normally sign before they enter", the receptionist said.

"Urghh", she grumbled.

"Thing is I can't allow anybody to enter any office here, except the person is around but I can accompany you to check him out", the receptionist said.

"Okay, thank you", Bolanle thanked her . They climbed up the staircase that led to the office. They got to the door and didn't knock

. Bolanle held the door handle, and opened it immediately. It was not locked. Sitting on the chair with the head bowed to the table was Detective John. Blood had flown from the chair side he sat, to the middle of the office.

"Jesus!!!!", they both screamed. Everybody in the office gathered there. The noise was unusual hence the attraction.

"But you attested that you saw him leaving yesterday?", a man pointed at a security personnel.

"Yes, I saw his car but not the person inside", he answered.

"But did you see when someone entered to visit him", another asked.

"Notttt rea.....llly", he stuttered. "But he called, telling me he was the only one in the office and I shouldn't allow anybody in, except in urgent cases," he said.

"So, did you?", Bolanle said.

"No, but one hefty man came around and I told him I can't allow him in, and he left, he didn't come again", he said.

"Okay, case closed", Bolanle said and dashed out of the office.

The inspector General of police informed the Coker's of what had happened. Dominique was in tears. Mrs Coker told her husband to drop the case. Mr Coker invited the Inspector General of police, to his house. He came with Bolanle. They were served with food which they ate and chatted away.

. In the middle of the chat, Mr Coker told them to drop the case.

"I am ready to drop the case but...", Inspector General said.

"But what?", Mr Coker said. 

Bolanle interrupted, "but we were getting to the root until, tragedy befell us". She continued as drops of tears flown from her eyes down her cheeks, "I'm doing this for John and your family, most importantly. Just be by my side". Bolanle said and quickly dashed out from the house. They all gazed at her as she left.

"Thank you so much", Mr Coker said to the inspector general. He did the same with Mrs Coker and Dominique before he left their house.

During the evening dinner, Dominique broke the silence.

"Dad, Mum, I think I have something to tell you both", she said.

"Say right away", Mrs Coker said.

" When John was alive, he invited me to his office and queried me. He said that from their research, Demilade and Sheila are the main suspect", Dominique said.

"Sheila? Definitely not her", they both chorused.

"Same thing I thought, but John was murdered the next day after we told her about him being on the helm of investigating the case", Dominique said.

"You have a point, but we don't just rush into things. I will summon Bolanle sooner", Mr Coker said.

"Y'all know Demilade whereabouts is still unknown till now?, he is still one of the main suspect", Mrs Coker said.

"Yes, we can't just trust anybody. I would have told you all, so that you'll sheild it away from her, but John said I shouldn't tell anyone yet until he is done with his investigations", Dominique said.

"There is no way Sheila can murder my son, anyway", Mrs Coker said.

"Anything is possible", .Mr Coker said. Mrs Coker had lost appetite for her food, as she shifted it forward, stood and walked away. She entered her room, locked the door and started crying.
