Salvation (An Arranged Marriage ll) - Episode 6

 

Nothing's changed.

The house on the hill is just how I remembered it.

The car approaches and my body tendes when I see all of them standing at the great doors.

My hands unconsciously finds Kane's and he squeezes.

The car comes to a stop and I wait for the driver to open the door, using the little time to gather my courage.

The doors opens and I'm out, I take two steps and a ball of Aroofa is hitting me, I drop my clutch, squeezing her as I hug her back, tears coming as I breath in her scent.

"I've missed you baby" I say and the moment I lift my body Linda is taking me into her arms.

"I'm sooo soo sorry" She whispers and I give a laughing sob.

"It's fine baby" I say.

She lifts her self and my body tenses when my eyes finds Aroos's and Anaya's.

"It's good to see you are doing good sister" Anaya says and I nod, I know she knows everything, she's too inquisitive not to know, I look to Aroos, she just nods at me before matching up the stairs and through the door.

My heart breaks.

"Are you back? Like for reals?" Aroofa asks and I glance at Kane's cool eyes before nodding.

Cash is not present but I know he's around.

"Well, were are your bags?" Aroofa asks.

"Let's get inside first little sister" Kane says and Aroofa nods immediately.

It does my heart glad to see them getting well so well.

We get to the sitting room and Aroos is there, doing something on her tab, I know, I know it's going to take awhile for we to go back to being like we always were.

"So.. We are inside, why didn't you bring your bags? Is there another car bringing them? Or you are donating all of them?" She asks.

. Uh.. The thing is..."

"Ani is being stalked, she needs a place to stay for a while" Kane says and Aroofa gasp, Anaya's eyes comes to me in concern and I shake my head slowly at her,later we will talk. 

Kane could have handled that better. 

"So.." a quiet voice says  

"You wouldn't have returned if you weren't stalked?" Aroos asks and I turn my eyes to her. 

"You would have gone into the wind again if you didn't need a place to lie low?" Her voice cracks and I shake my head slowly, my hands fisting in my clothes. 

"Why did you even return?" She says. 

"What?" 

"Why did you return? You were comfortable in staying away for three years, you should have stayed away for thirty more" She says and my heart breaks. 

"That's enough Aroos" Kane says

"No! It isn't enough, I don't understand what happened, I don't know but three years was too much for her to leave, does she think she can... I don't know, waltz back into our life and everything will be dandy? Hell no" 

"Aroos...." I start. 

"No, everything's not going to be fine because you are back, I'm sorry you have people after you or whatever is going on in your life but please, when you are done, kindly go back to the hell hole you've been holed up in" She says and I nod. 

"You don't have to ask that of me, I know what I will do, I know that it will be too much of me to ask that you immediately accept as soon as I get back but I'm asking you to give me a chance." I say

"Please, give me a chance to ask for your forgiveness, that's all I ask, please" I say. 

"Don't sit around waiting for it" She says, before bounding up the stairs. 

Well, that went well. 

My shoulders droop and I turn to the rest of my family. 

"Aroos took it the worse when you left, and when you still didn't show up except that letter she thought the worst" Linda says and I nod. 

"I'm sorry I left you guys, I couldn't deal with..." I begin. 

"We know you must have felt really alone when you lost..." Anaya starts and my body tenses, I feel Kane's tense too. 

I realize that the twins don't know the reason I left, Anaya was trying to deflect and in her deflection she opened an old wound. 

"Well, let's not stand around, let's get you settled" Linda says and another dilemma arises. 

Where... What room am I staying in? The hill house has many rooms but... 

"You can stay with me! You have to see what I did with my room" Aroofa says, bless her heart. 

I look at Kane and he's staring back at me.

"Your things were not touched, the room is as you left it, I moved out after you left, you can stay there if you want" He says and my heart thumps. 

"No it's fine, I wouldn't want to rob you of your room" I say. 

"I said I moved out Ani" He says, and I nod again. 

I'm not going to step a feet into that room, it's going to cost me too much, it's going to bring back memories I've longed buried. 

"You don't have to bother yourself Kane, I will stay with Aroofa, thank you so much for housing me, I will be out of your hair as soon as I get down to the local precinct" I say and I'm rambling. 

I begin to troop up the stairs, my feet automatically knowing where it's going. 

A hand at my wrist makes me stop.

I turn to Kane. 

"My guys are on it, I'm sure will we get the bastard soon, if it makes you feel better then we will go to the police but not today, tomorrow" He says. 

"But.. No, the sooner I get there the better it will be for all of us, it means I can get out of your hair sooner." I say.

All the while he had been talking to me his body had been fluid, his eyes soft, right before my eyes it hardens. 

"Is there a vibe around this house that is screaming for you to run for the hills?" He asks and maybe I've gone too far, I've only tried to make them comfortable with my presence. 

"No..i..." 

"Then shut your mouth and enjoy the time with your family, besides we need evidence for the police to take you seriously, do you understand?" He asks and I nod. 

He steps away from me, going towards the direction of our... Uh, his wing. 

I turn to Anaya and Linda. 

" Why did you cut your hair? "Linda asks and I grimace. 

"You don't have to say anything" She says. 

I nod, biting my lip before following them towards Aroofa's room. 

Aroofa holds my hand and I get the strange feeling she's trying to make sure I don't leave.

So this is the update I promised, love hate relationship on the way. 

I'm travelling today again and it's rainy and there's massive holdup. 

Ugh.
