My phone rings and I grab it from its place on the nightstand, I glance bleary-eyed at the clock and it's past six in the morning, you could say I'm hiding, seeing as I didn't go down stairs for dinner since the great fight. 

I had to find a room real quick since it's obvious the occupants of this house are mad at me, you can say I'm acting spoiled and sulky. 

"Hello" I whisper. 

"Hey girl, how's it going?" Jules' voice asks from the other line and I sink into the bed. 

"Not good" 

"What's wrong?" 

"We finally had the fight" I say to my friend, wrapping my hand around my pillow. 

"He almost go hurt Jules, that psycho set his car on fire and he was almost hurt" I say, my voice trembling, the fear I was feeling finally bleeding through. 

"Calm down girl, he's safe" she says and that goes a long way to calming me down. 

"I shouldn't be here Julie, my presence is making him unsafe, what if something happens to him? What if..." 

"Let's be logical about this, that place is right now the safest place you could ever be, Kane king is a man who can protect you and himself, I'm sure he will be fine" She says and I nod. 

"You think so?" 

"I know so" She says. 

"I'm glad you called Julie, I was going mad with worry, I had thoughts of leaving" I say. 

"That's a no no, you have to be safe, and don't worry, I pasted a leaflet on your studio door, everyone is aware that you went on vacation" She says and I suddenly realise that I didn't do anything about my students. 

"Oh, thank you Juliet" 

"No problem, I just called you to tell you that and to check in, you can post an update on the website, I hope you will talk care of your self" She says and I nod then realising she can't see me I say. 

"Yes, I will Juliet, thank you so much" I say and she rings off. 

I flop back on the bed, realizing that I sat up while talking. 

I rise again when a thought crosses my mind, I'm off the bed and across the room, my feet taking me past the hallway, down the stairs and outside the house. 

I run along the path that's so rarely used, the one besides the house and I come to a stop at the front of the the little cottage, the cottage Kane made for me. 

I'm suddenly afraid to go inside, is it still intact? Did he take it down when I left? I take a step forward my hand on the knob, suddenly I want to know, I jerk the door open and come to a stop. 

Everywhere looks pristine, everything looks clean and untouched, a laughing sob pours from my lips, everything is as it is, everything untouched but clean. 

I meet my eyes in the floor to ceiling mirror and I grin. 

I finally admit that maybe, just maybe I took too long to return to my family. 

I suddenly realize I have to tell Kane I'm sorry, I know we have to talk about things, we have to sort many things out but first I have to build a bridge that will get me back to him. 

Standing in this room I realize that he might have been wrong in some ways but his feelings for me are still there, this room is a proof. 

I have to talk to him. 

The sound of a car revving makes me turn and I know Kane is leaving for work, I'm out the door.

. That.. That... The car turns the corner as I do and he's gone. 

Shoot. 

I wanted us to talk. 

I don't know why but I need him to understand that... 

"Are you going to stand barefoot in the cold?" Linda's voice asks from behind me and I turn.

I glance down to see that I'm barefooted, when did that happen? 

I didn't leave the house like this right? I doubt it.. 

"Uh... I just really wanted to talk to Kane" I say. 

"Well, you can call him or wait for him to come back, Breakfast is served" She says and I smile wanely at her. 

"I think I will wait for him to return" I say, walking towards her. 

I feel like whatever I have to say is not something to be done on phone. 

But then... I glance at the phone in my arms, speed dialing Kane's number, he picks on the first ring. 

"Ani" 

"I wanted us to talk" I say quietly. 

"Okay, I'm listening..." 

"Kane.." 

"Speak Ani" He says, distractedly 

"I.. I wanted to tell you something" I say, glancing at Linda, she shrugs. 

"Go on" 

"Kane.. I.. I'm sorry.. I thought about things and I..." I begin, his voice stops me. 

"Ani..." 

"Yeah?" I whisper. 

"Let's talk when I get home, I'm feeling like I should be standing in front of you for this" He says and I realize he's making a joke. 

I laugh a little. 

"Yeah, sure" I say. 

"Okay?" He asks 

"Okay" I repeat, about to ring off. 

"Ani?" He calls. 

"Yeah?" 

"Don't think until I get there, okay?" 

"Okay Kane" I whisper. 

"You own me Ani" He says before ringing off and I stand frozen. Linda snaps her fingers in front of my face and a goofy smile encompasses me. 

"Let's get in" I whisper 

We walk inside and my sisters are already eating,i take my seat, wondering if the tension from yesterday is still there. 

"Good morning" Aroofa says, her eyes on her plate. 

"Good morning" I greet, seating down. 

"I think I should begin by apologizing for yesterday..." Aroofa stops when a car screeches into the driveway. 

We all turn towards the front door and the sight of Kane bloodied and bruised gets me up from my seat. 

"Kane?....." He bleeding from his head

"Ani..." 

"Oh my God" I whisper, my hands closing my mouth.
